BBC2 Wednesday 10.00.

I love it

Doodle Fri 10-May-19 12:31:05

Me too ?. I love all the characters. So nice to have a gentle wry comedy.

Lisagran Fri 10-May-19 13:31:17

Excellent! Look forward to it

JoyBloggs Fri 10-May-19 13:38:53

Can't wait! Just wish there were more programmes similarly gentle and imaginative. I read that this is the final series sad

David1968 Fri 10-May-19 13:45:16

Both DH & I love it. Yes, sadly it's the final series, but perhaps it's best to finish it while it's still good?

Day6 Fri 10-May-19 13:45:25

Oh good! Thank you for the reminder kitty.

Namsnanny Fri 10-May-19 14:05:00

Kitty...Thanks for posting this reminder.
I’ve bought a recorder especially to use for this, one of my favourite programs.
I love the brother (forgotten the actors name)!!

Alima Fri 10-May-19 14:06:46

Thank you, love this!

shysal Fri 10-May-19 15:25:42

I find the characters very irritating, but at the same time enjoy it! Good to know it is back.

Squiffy Fri 10-May-19 15:34:45

Thanks for the reminder Kitty, love the series. Hope they decide to do more of them.

Labaik Fri 10-May-19 16:06:47

Oh great; saw an advert but I just thought it was a re run. What with Ghosts and Fleabag there's some great stuff on tv at the moment.

JessK Fri 10-May-19 16:40:27

Great. I really love this programme. One of the best comedies on TV. Will definitely be watching.

Shirleyw Sat 11-May-19 04:48:06

Great, thanks for that...love mum.

Sorry to disagree with everyone. I watched all the first series, but just didn’t like it. I thought both the son and girlfriend were unlikeable characters, as were the elderly parents and sister-in-law. Poor Lesley Manville seemed so sad and used. Felt so sorry for the neighbour who liked her.
Didn’t watch any of second series, perhaps I would have got into it more.

I saw it was coming back on so watched the first two series again on the i-player. I loved everything about it and I'm sure this series will be as good. Can't believe Lesley Manville is 63!! Only problem is with the theme tune - I can't get it out of my head but that's not really a complaint!!

Urmstongran Sat 11-May-19 08:25:23

I don’t really watch tv (I know, I’m sad) but I do hear this mentioned as being very good. If I tune in on Wednesday night will it matter I’ve not watched the two previous series?

Badenkate Sat 11-May-19 08:31:25

I'm with you Calendargirl. I just wanted to give mum a good shaking and tell her not to be such a doormat, such a drippy character, which clearly wasn't the effect the writers wanted.

Alima Sat 11-May-19 08:45:26

Not really Urmstongran but you will miss the delightfully developing relationship between Mum and her admirer. (Described thus as have forgotten their names!)

Framilode Sat 11-May-19 09:02:05

I have just discovered this and binge watched series 1 and 2. I'm delighted there is to be another series and hope her relationship with Michael doesn't go wrong. I just love the way he looks at her, such love.

I do find the constant interruptions, which means no one ever seems to get to the end of a conversation, annoying. That said I think it is wonderful comedy/pathos and spend time thinking about the back story to the characters.

My daughter laughs whenever the old couple are on, she says they are similar to me and the husband. Can't see it myself.

AyjayF Sat 11-May-19 17:39:05

I love this programme. I binged watched the first 2 series on iPlayer too. It is so gentle and the acting is superb. I particularly love the odious partner of Mum's brother. (Pauline?)

Harris27 Sat 11-May-19 17:57:06

I love it too can't wait x

annep1 Sat 11-May-19 18:51:39

Oh good! Thanks for the info. I must tell hubby...?

Ohmother Sat 11-May-19 22:14:20

Love it but get irritated by doormat behaviour of mum.

notanan2 Sat 11-May-19 23:38:39

I find the main chatacter unbearable. So patronising/passive aggressive. Looks down on everyone around her... but its very watchable for that reason

Namsnanny Sun 12-May-19 01:41:27

notanan…...are you talking about Kathy (Leslie Manville)?
Do you really find her patronising or passive aggressive.?
Gosh, that is surprising!
