I'm inspired to ask by another thread.

Restricting myself to those I sat right through and didn't turn off/walk out of, I'd like to start the roll of shame with

Braveheart
Pretty Woman
The Postman Always Rings Twice (the Jack Nicholson/Jessica Lange remake not the original)
Top Gun
Beetlejuice

Yes, that's what makes a thread like this so interesting! We saw TWWW when we weren't long married, thinking we would love it as we do What's Up Doc? (probably our favourite film of all time) but found it very depressing. Anyway, I'm glad you like it so that it isn't friendless, poor film! smile

Allelujah has got to be one of them!

AskAlice Tue 28-Mar-23 18:20:00

Without a doubt Blue Velvet. Closely followed by Shampoo and Withnail and I.

Saw a film on Netflix last week. ‘Four Scandalous People’ I have never seen anything so bad. Laughable in its awfulness. You have been warned

I can’t decide between The way we were^😥 or ^Laurence of Arabia
You hated The bridges of Maddison county One of the saddest films I’ve seen, I loved it 🥰

Boz Tue 28-Mar-23 18:47:01

Nothing is as bad as "Cats". Direst film ever.

NotAGran55 Tue 28-Mar-23 18:51:56

Ghost 👻 Utterly ridiculous.

Kate1949 Tue 28-Mar-23 19:00:21

Once again Meryl we're all different!

Grammaretto Tue 28-Mar-23 19:05:28

The life of Brian.

Grammaretto Tue 28-Mar-23 19:08:30

I saw Banshees of Innisherrin very recently.
It was sad but not bad. Sago
Super acting but I agree it wouldn't be attracting tourism!

La La Land
2001 A Space Odyssey
Les Miserables

Spring to mind.

The last 10 minutes if La La Land were actually very good. But not worth having to sit through the rest of it.

MerylStreep Tue 28-Mar-23 19:10:02

Grammaretto

The life of Brian.

I practically know that film word for word.
He’s not the Messiah, he’s a naughty boy 😂

Ghost 👻 Utterly ridiculous.

Also the poor woman's Truly Madly Deeply.

Grammaretto Tue 28-Mar-23 19:19:52

Sorry Meryl I have sat through it more than once. Awful 😞

Maggiemaybe Tue 28-Mar-23 19:31:08

Life of Brian is one of our family favourites smile, along with Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.

I hated Lost in Translation (pretentious and racist imho) and Taken (recommended to us by more than one person, but I couldn’t believe just how bad it was).

And Mamma Mia, though it may have improved after I switched it off 10 minutes in.

Bakingmad0203 Tue 28-Mar-23 19:38:13

Looking for Mr Goodbar It really upset me and gave me nightmares as did Clockwork Orange and Reservoir Dogs , neither of which I could watch until the end. Too violent for me!

Kate1949 Tue 28-Mar-23 19:44:48

Another two have just come to mind.
Nomadland was dire and depressing. Once Upon A Time In Hollywood. Unnecessarily violent.
(All in my opinion obviously).

Lomo123 Tue 28-Mar-23 21:42:38

Deer Hunter

Ladyleftfieldlover Tue 28-Mar-23 22:10:34

Australia with Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman. We weren’t sure if it was a comedy. (I love Tarantino films. Pulp Fiction is my favourite film ever.)
