Theresa May & Trump, why the negative slant ?

Am I alone in thinking that Reporters & Journalists seemed hell bent on reporting the meeting of DT & TM in a particularly negative way, despite the fact that both of them were obviously making positive efforts & remarks in a civilised & mature manner?

Don't blame his mother Jalima, she probably did her best, as we all do. She could only work with the material she was presented with - she failed to help him become an ordinary human being. Poor woman!

Trisher, I would think a PM has other things to concentrate on than - will he touch my hand, how can I avoid this , only twice the first time cannot be counted , she removed her hand , they were not holding hands he took her hand , she removed her hand. What nit picking

Some mothers of that era idolised their sons to the extent that they turn them into egocentric men.

Strange that they rarely seem to do this with daughters.

Iam64 Sat 14-Jul-18 20:29:00

True enough Jalima but, we're back to to the old question as to whether adults become responsible for their own disgusting behaviour.

Jalima1108 Sat 14-Jul-18 20:30:19

Yes, we could debate this for ever more - and was it nature or nurture?

He probably inherited traits from his father too.

Iam64 Sat 14-Jul-18 20:38:43

that made me smile Jalima, yes I expect he did inherit traits from his father as well.

It was comical - as he walked alongside HM, supposedly to inspect the Coldstream Guards, he appeared to have some directional issues - and BLOCKED her.

The Queen then oontsvto where he should walk as they inspect the troops. Even then he didn’t actually inspect the troops did he....he hadn’t a clue what he should be doing.

I bet HM and Philip has a good laugh about it later!

OldMeg Sat 14-Jul-18 20:55:18

The Queen then pointed out...

It would be interesting to know what Philip said.
Since watching The Crine, and as I found it impossible not to admire the way he walked into the recent Royal Wedding, six weeks after having a hip replacement, I've become a bit of a fan.
I know, I'm lost and hopeless.

Lordy Iam64, you are beyond all redemption.wink

Jalima1108 Sun 15-Jul-18 09:46:13

He was an extremely good looking young man

Yearoff Sun 15-Jul-18 09:49:11

He is the most arrogant man I’ve ever seen. Walking in front of the queen! Whether your a royal lover or not he broke protocol. I bet he did it on purpose.

Jalima1108 Sun 15-Jul-18 09:54:56

Just to clarify - I did mean Prince Philip and not Trump
grin

Jalima1108 Sun 15-Jul-18 09:55:35

and - just to clarify as well - I am not a Royal Lover. He's too old for me.

The media is heavily biased towards the left so is naturally against anything to the right i.e. Brexit, Trump, Jacob Rees-Mogg. However, in spite of that people voted for Brexit, Trump and, hopefully, Mr Rees-Mogg will be Prime Minister one day.
I wonder how much publicity the BBC will give to the Sadiq Kahn baby balloon which someone has crowd-funded to raise over £50,000 for ( more than was raised for the Trump one). Mr Trump feels that the EU is bullying Mrs May into a weak position so why shouldn't he say it. You must all prefer politicians who lie and are weak. Here's to a second term for Donald; he hasn't started that wall yet.

quizqueen I was going to ask you which media producers you thought were left -wing biased. Then I re-read and realised you are a supporter of JRM and your last sentence says it all. Our right wing media is far to the left of you. That doesn't make it left wing. It means you are endorsing the policies of a racist mysogynist who borderson fascism and certainly gives credence to fascist ideas for many.

coast35 Sun 15-Jul-18 10:47:42

I agree with the comments about the truly awful Mr Trump but I do think we somehow need to keep him on side because he could be a very difficult and horrible enemy. Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.

GoldenAge Sun 15-Jul-18 10:58:23

Sorry Bridgeit but there's no way anybody can observe Trump's behaviour and call him civilised - really?! Did you see how he responded to the Queen? Are we actually going to say that he simply couldn't follow the protocol and walked right in front of her? If so, then he should be nowhere near the nuclear button. No, the truth is that he's a misogynist and every woman in the world should recognise this for the sake of the millions of younger women whose lives will be negatively affected by his policies - so he's not conducting anything in a civilised way and the reporting if anything, is giving him the benefit of the doubt rather than painting a poorer picture of him than is the reality.

MawBroon Sun 15-Jul-18 11:12:52

*MawBroon*, you're advocating a potential murder and you think Trump has a bad attitude. Take a look in the mirror
WTF are you talking about?
I was thinking of a gentle poke in the buttocks as it happens but you clearly view things differently.
Good grief, SOH? No chance!
Pots, Kettles, , Black.

Bridgeit Sun 15-Jul-18 11:45:36

I’m no advocate of DT, but on this occasion I thought he made an effort to be ‘less bullish’

paddyann Sun 15-Jul-18 11:51:41

Good grief ..where is this left wing biased media? Its not on any "British" TV channel or newspaper ,even the Scottish ones appear to support the tories.
I must go out and scour the newspaper stands and see if I can find ANY evidence of left wing interest ...never mind bias.Actually ... left wing bias ... thats laughable its so wrong .

Jane43 Sun 15-Jul-18 12:28:02

It is a two way street and he is treated by the press in the way that he deserves. There is a programme on BBC about his first year in office and it features The New York Times journalists. The way he berated the press in attendance reporting one of his rallies was appalling. He turned the audience into a baying mob against the press.

Jalima1108 Sun 15-Jul-18 12:32:44

^ Here's to a second term for Donald; he hasn't started that wall yet.^
I thought that was a typo quizqueen and that you meant he hasn't started that well yet

then I realised what you meant.
Please, please, no.

Jane43 Sun 15-Jul-18 12:34:22

Jalima1108. Thank goodness you were referring to Prince Phillip not Trump. I agree, Prince Phillip resembled a Greek God in his youth and he is still a fine figure of a man. I also thought it was amazing how he walked without a stick at the wedding of Prince Harry and Megan.
