Am I alone in thinking that Reporters & Journalists seemed hell bent on reporting the meeting of DT & TM in a particularly negative way, despite the fact that both of them were obviously making positive efforts & remarks in a civilised & mature manner?

Jalima1108 Sun 15-Jul-18 12:35:00

where is this left wing biased media?
I think trisher explained it very well, paddyann

Jalima1108 Sun 15-Jul-18 12:36:14

Thank goodness you were referring to Prince Phillip not Trump
I hope no-one thought otherwise Jane43!!

I agree Quizqueen ...and good for you speaking out shame your comment deleted...what happened to free speech everyone else has it on here apparently!!!!!!

MawBroon Sun 15-Jul-18 12:49:23

It was deleted maryeve because it was an entirely slanderous accusation that I wanted a murder to be committed.
Thank goodness GNHQ has the common sense to distinguish between a light hearted remark and incitement to murder.
Sorry you were unable to do likewise.

NfkDumpling So what makes you think we can then breathe a sigh of relief.? 'Won't be there' is the part that you should be concerned about
Better the devil you know?.
So, who next could be sitting in the vacant WH chair.?Another war monger who was responsible for the demise of thousands of innocent people or a another 'Back ' of the queue. The latter who did not disguise his feelings for the British that he held from the past and made obvious by his actions when installed in the WH.

NfkDumpling Sun 15-Jul-18 13:07:52

I’m an optimist sara. Can’t help it. Next time will be better.

Jalima1108 Sun 15-Jul-18 13:15:08

MawBroon shock

MawBroon Sun 15-Jul-18 13:26:46

See today’s at 11.12
grin

Can't get worked up about this subject but I have heard Mr Trump say 'America first' and he seems to be practising it. How I wish I could see evidence of even one British MP showing signs of 'Britain first' in these turbulent times.

NannyC2 Sun 15-Jul-18 15:15:15

Simple answer to question is.....YES

patriciageegee Sun 15-Jul-18 16:02:49

This is a man who, amongst many many other examples of his disgraceful behaviour, physically ridiculed a disabled reporter. He's repulsive.

montymops Sun 15-Jul-18 16:08:40

It’s true that the press and media like to report negatively on everything. I read the transcript of the Sun interview and noted some deliberate press exaggerations to fit their own view. I’m not sure that Trump is all those things he is accused of. I think he is rather ignorant of world affairs and playing politics - as are many Americans- for instance - up until recently, only 10% of them had passports. May he also have in mind the devastating loss of life on 9/11? Politics is a game and one that I am getting increasingly tired of in this country. Trump is a businessman not a politician in any way. What you see is what you get - like it or lump it - and I think the balloon in London was disrespectful actually- not really surprising that he hit back! Why were all those protesters on Friday not at work by the way?

MawBroon Sun 15-Jul-18 16:20:59

why were these protesters on Friday not at work by the way?

Goodness!
Not everybody works 9-5 five days a week you know. Some people work flexitime or shifts, some may have taken a day of their annual leave, some might be self-employed, some might work from home, some might not be in work, (OMG-surely not on benefits?)
Quite a few I know are retired. Why on earth question this, are you easily shocked? Do you think they were not entitled to be there?

trisher Sun 15-Jul-18 16:30:17

Of course they shouldn't be there Maw and when proper law and order is established, women return to their true places in the kitchen and bed, immigrants are locked up or deported, disabled people are got rid of and Trump brings order to the Western world, only official demonstrations will be permitted. By groups wearing the right uniforms (oh hang on didn't someone else try this?)

MawBroon Sun 15-Jul-18 16:33:48

I do sometimes wonder what century some people are living in when I read some comments hmm

patriciageegee Sun 15-Jul-18 16:35:47

If he's not a politician with all that implies good and bad but hopefully at least time served what the eff is he doing in politics?

Elegran Sun 15-Jul-18 16:44:34

That does seem a weakness of the US political system - the POTUS is elected from absolutely anywhere. He/she may be a great guy in their own field, but not have the least notion of the mechanics and nuances of governing an enormous and diverse country or of interacting with his/her equivalents from other countries. Add to that the incomprehensible electoral college voting system and the way that "money talks shouts"

Deedaa Sun 15-Jul-18 16:51:38

I heard one of Trump's advisors saying that the President is promoting a Christian/ Judean society which seems to suggest that the rest of the world doesn't really matter. Of course we know that he thinks the rest of the world is s**t hole countries full of terrorists, but once you start using religion to jusify racism you are on the slippery slope.

Sheilasue Sun 15-Jul-18 17:01:54

As they say in America ‘he’s a bum’

montymops Sun 15-Jul-18 17:06:57

What extraordinary and bigoted assumptions some people make about others on this site!

varian Sun 15-Jul-18 17:52:24

Having read through this thread, I am not sure which posters you are accusing of bigotry, montymops

MawBroon Sun 15-Jul-18 18:15:33

Would you care to elaborate on that montymops? confused too

Jimbow15 Sun 15-Jul-18 18:53:55

Why don't people spend their time criticizing the real evil dictators in this rotten world like Syria and Iran.
America and the UK stand for all that is good and great.
Leave Donald and Theresa alone. We have now crime ridden cities due to mass immigration and that is a fact and the same in Germany

Elegran Sun 15-Jul-18 18:59:52

We had crime in cities already.

montymops Sun 15-Jul-18 19:09:32

Couldn’t agree more Jimbowl5 - no - I don’t want to elaborate on my message - if someone makes assumptions and demonstrates bigotry - they know who they are.
