Where to buy quality underwear?

I recently bought 2 multi packs of knickers from a well-known store, in a style and size I've worn for years.
They didn't seem to fit right. Theres not enough material in the back and way too much stretchy material in the front.
I've compared them with my older pairs (5 years old and more) and there is now definitely more material in the crotch area! (almost a pouchy effect on some of the pairs, a bit like men's underpants confused)

I went online to read some of the reviews and there are male people raving about these knickers, saying that "there's enough room for men to wear them" basically they can fit their their male bits in them.

Aibu for being shocked that even women's underwear is now under attack?
So now we have to wear saggy, pouchy underwear, just because transwomen might get upset if there isn't enough room for them to fit their junk in?
(most transwomen these days don't have bottom surgery and choose to keep their male penises and testicles). I'm not sure if many Gransnetters are aware of that)

Aibu to think there should be a separate section for transwomens underwear?
Manufacturersshould not be changing and messing around with women's underware and shoving extra material into areas that have no need of extra material.
Why do women always have to budge up to accommodate others?
I'm prepared to be told to shut up and #bekind.
Which is what usually happens.

Oh and I would have put this in Feminism if we had such a section.

Not exactly made for women are they?

What a very strange observation (or obsession?)

It's a bit difficult to ignore when the lingerie review sections of a lot of major stores now have loads of men posting saying that women's pants fit them perfectly.

I think it strange to be a woman and NOT be concerned. confused

I have never been reduced to reading lingerie reviews.hmm
I know what I like and where I can buy it.

And I think you have a very valid point M0nica hmm

You could just go commando!

M0nica Tue 22-Feb-22 07:21:06

I must say it has never occurred to me to read any reviews of any knickers I might buy - nor write a review either.

Lucca, that's not an exaggeration.
By the time I've bought the odd supermarket multipack every few months (usually finding out they're rubbish), not to mention ordering online.
It quickly adds up.

Searching for the holy grail of knickersshocksmile

Sloggi pants are expensive but last at least five years. They are a good fit and stay in the right place with good coverage. I buy them one size bigger as I don't like them too snug. I don't rate their bras though.

I tried hunting for this 2 pack of knickers with reviews that accommodate men on the M&S site and came up empty. Who has the link to this? My curiosity has got the better of me.

M0nica Tue 22-Feb-22 09:22:32

If all these knickers are unsatisfactory snoberry what are you wearing in the meantime - and why keep buying supermarket pants if they are usually rubbish? Why not open a pack and inspect them before you buy them?

A quick look in Primark has convinced me that they must have a campaign going to get me to buy thongs( aka cheese wire)

There are no midi size to speak of and the colours are flesh flesh or flesh. Sooo booooring

Mollygo Tue 22-Feb-22 21:05:37

Primark is the only place I’ve ever bought knickers where the cashier said, “You do know you can’t bring these back?”
As if I would!

Granmarderby10 Tue 22-Feb-22 21:54:19

Well funnily enough…I did try to return a 2 packs of 3 “unopened-untouched-by-human-hand(or bum) boxer shorts because him indoors had picked up the wrong size in his bid to illustrate what an efficient shopper he is (to town and back in less than hour) that sort of thing.?
Local charity shop accepted them

Just a last thought snowberry - is it possible that you'd just put your pants on back to front?grin

Call them trants instead, for the lady who has everything

I really dislike this thread title. Wish it would disappear.

So do I. Just ridiculous.

Daisend1 Sun 06-Mar-22 14:50:09

For me, panty liners are ideal.I always carry a couple of spare liners with me if going to be out all day.

marionk Sun 06-Mar-22 14:55:17

Sound like you might have them on back to front ?

Granny23 Sun 06-Mar-22 15:03:37

I am what is euphemistically called a 'Tena Lady'and found that in most of my pants the gusset was not broad enough to keep the pad secure. Then I broke my arm and for a short time I had a carer calling 2 or 3 times a week to help me shower and dress. She recommended wearing 2 pairs of pants at all times - one pair as normal and one pair back to front. I have continued with this idea ever since because it works so well.

SiobhanSharpe Sun 06-Mar-22 15:22:09

Callistemon21

The larger gussets in some M&S knickers are to catch leaks.

If men have periods they could be ideal.

grin
Yes indeed. Except ….. they don’t. As the song says - only women bleed.

I rolled up laughing when I read this one - and didn't bother answering. Now, I'm just astounded that there's six pages of replies! Honestly, who writes these things? (Only on GN, the obsessions with underwear!)

Me too! Even I'm fed up with it now.
And I started it.grin
I will try and report myself. Maybe that'll get rid of it.
Watch this space!

Anything is possibleblush

If we wrote 852 posts just saying “pants” there would be 1000 posts and the thread would disappear.
Alternatively some posters seem to relish the discussion……..

I've been avoiding this thread for a while on the grounds of
?Que? but dived in this morning. I think Gussetgate has given me the most diversion I've had on GN for a long time, thank you!

Exits to rummage through her knicker drawer. They're pretty bog standard, Sainsbury's full cover, so not expecting anything dramatic.....

I've asked them to either change the title or delete it.
Nothing happening so far. Maybe HQ s still asleep!shock
