to feel sad that the Queen looks so frail.

Its popped up on my newsfeed that the Queen will be missing another royal engagement. There were also pictures of her looking even more frail still. Yes I know it's understandable at her age.
And it struck me that even though I'm a a bit of a republican, I am going to really miss her when she's no longer here. I get the 'feeling' that all is not as well as we're being led to believe.
The Queen has been a big constant in all our lives for so long, that I think you'd have to be a hard hearted person not to feel saddened when she's no longer here.
She's done such a good job.

it is weird
but for example if asked why urms lives in Spain and doesn't want boat people in the UK this post would get deleted

Coarse and crude, Paddyann and Volver.

Oh now, lay off Sir David. I shall be devastated if anything happens to him.

I said to DH last night I can’t imagine the country without our beloved queen. We were discussing if she would step down after the jubilee but I said I think she swore to serve her whole life. I could be wrong.
It made me well up at the thought of her dying.
I’m waiting for my e mail to come to see if we’ve won tickets to the concert at the palace from the ballot. I think we’ve no chance but ???

I shall miss her presence.
It’s a shame paddyann has forgotten her manners if they exist.

JaneJudge Thu 14-Apr-22 19:14:00

paddyann just thinks we should worry more about people who need to be worried about
I think she has a point
I'm sorry I'm so common

Coarse and crude?

Okey dokey ?

Germanshepherdsmum Thu 14-Apr-22 19:26:01

Yes. Coarse and crude.

volver Thu 14-Apr-22 19:27:08

OK, sure you're right. I'll mention it to David at the next SNP meeting.

Yes its inevitable given her age, but in my view its very sad, I have nothing but admiration for our Queen. She is such an incredible lady, our Queen, strong and robust and to me its very sad to see and hear of her failing health.

I wouldn't call myself a royalist but I am proud of our Queen and admire her greatly.

snowberryZ Thu 14-Apr-22 19:33:30

As others have said, I can think of no-one else who has always "been there" since the day I was born. That constant presence will certainly leave a gap in my life.

This is it exactly.

I'm not a Royalist and I can understand Paddyanne's comments - up to a point. However, I fail to understand why she feels the need to be rude and, dare I say it, childish. It does little to further her cause.

Her most memorable speech, for me, made at the beginning of lockdown uplifted me and I wasn’t even in the UK.
I do hope she regains her strength and lives at least as long as her mother, l hope I am not being selfish.

Have a word with the person who said to ignore the Scots.

Then go and have a look at the Princess Anne thread.

Thanks.

volver take no notice, you were obviously the nerd. I was just the loner grin

mokryna I agree, her speech during lockdown was so needed ( by me ) its like I was drawn to needing to hear her words.

I have just heard that my mother’s cousin has died. She is exactly the same age as the Queen. She has looked much more frail for the past few years. The Aueen looks pretty good for her age.
I very much doubt the Queen will withdraw completely from public life, even if she doesn’t get out and about much. She made a promise years ago.
However, Charles is a different matter. I hope he will graciously step down after a few years to allow William to be King. I hope I live long enough to see William and Catherine crowned, as I saw the Queen crowned on TV.

i said to my friend a couple of months ago that i did not think the queen would last till next christmas, i think the death of the duke has just broken her, any of us that has been widowed will understand how she is feeling, when my husband died, even though i was only 39, i just felt like half of me was missing. i think our dear queen is suffering from broken heart syndrome.
