What are you making in the New Year? I'm going to have a stab at making crocheted socks. Wondering what other crafty grans are planning to make this coming new year.

Lovely dress Crystaltipps - enjoy the occasion smile

crystaltipps - did you make that? All those little buttons down the back too!
Well done, it's lovely.

Farmor I used to like knitting jumpers with pictures on the front for my DC.
I still have the pattern with a horse on the front somewhere in my stash!

Jalima - I've been requested to do another for the GS who liked the tractor - his sister got the horse. I think he'd like a dinosaur - have you any other old patterns?

I'm making two colour blanket squares with the yarn DH brought for me from the recent sale in Aldi. I found a pattern online and downloaded it. I'll post a photo when it's finished.

I would have to hunt them out Farmor, but I think so, one was a Postman Pat jumper. Not long ago I thought I'd do a Peppa Pig one for a little DGD but couldn't find a pattern and she's not interested in Peppa any more.
I'm practising crochet at the moment (nothing exciting though!).

I know I don't have a dinosaur - they weren't so "in" in those days!

jalima yes I did make the dress- have been going to a couture sewing class for years, everything is really slow but you do get a well fitted unique garment. There are 16 buttons down the back( needs someone else to get you in and out) fastened with hand made rouleaux loops. I would recommend a sewing class to anyone handy with a needle as you can always learn something new, it’s sociable and at the end of the day, you can wear the result ( even if it does take you 3 years!)

I am not nearly as talented as you ladies! I have recently taken up card making and have just discovered the art of iris folding, which is simple but effective. My first tries are pictured.

MiniMoon Wed 20-Feb-19 11:31:26

I finished this crochet top yesterday. I made it for my DGD, I hope it fits.

Auntieflo Wed 20-Feb-19 11:33:01

All these clever crafters, make me envious of your talents.
I have just finished a pair of socks for GGS.
I bought him a really colourful pair at Christmas and he was delighted with them. I had a ball of pretty random yarn, so thought, I can do that!
Trying to find a pattern for a 2 year old was difficult, but managed to find one in a charity shop. It is really too big, but I have adapted the size, and just hope they don't swamp him.
I think Gramaretto and somebody else, has done socks recently, so would be pleased to be pointed in the way of a small pattern.

crystaltipps, what a beautiful dress!

I don’t know if this counts but it is a hobby.

For the last 3 weeks I have been making leather laptop cases for my DD and friend. I make small leather goods but this is the most ambitious project I have tackled so far. Photo is of a couple of the pieces, but still lots to do.

I’m making salt dough wicker hearts. Hoping to be able to sell some

Mumble2 Wed 27-Feb-19 22:39:36

I have just started making bumble bees from salt dough too.

I am in complete awe of all of you, the quilts are absolutely stunning, I don't think I could ever achieve that.

These are my latest things, a pillow bed decorated with her favourite things for GD, a baby cardigan for the expected grandson that is now 3 days overdue, and a dress for another GD. The commission was 'a dress made by Granny with cats on' and I was given four days to make it from scratch!

I belong to a knitting group and knitting a cardigan for granddaughter at the mo, probably knitted around 40. I also sew and have fairly recently started making stuff out of stretch fabric. I feared this but bought some needles for stretch and use a stretch stitch for seams and it really isn't different to other cloth to sew. It doesn't fray so that's a bonus.

Oh wow! some brilliant articles have been made since I last looked.
Here’s my latest project. Finished tonight but started about 6 years ago !

Harris27 Tue 05-Mar-19 21:56:13

Just came across this as I'm browsing I have knitted this blanket at least 10 times and the edging never looks as neat as I would like. TRAVELASFAR.

Auntieflo Thu 21-Mar-19 09:46:43

At the weekend, I finished the little jumper that I was making for DGS.
I am now just waiting for him to come and fill it up.

With thanks to the GN’s who answered my query about how not to lose my cable needle.

Auntieflo Thu 21-Mar-19 09:48:47

Apologies, it is for GGS, as none of the 3 large DGS wouldn’t even get their hands into it ?

Jalima1108 Thu 21-Mar-19 15:04:53

It's lovely, Auntieflo and reminds me of my DM, not that she ever wore anything like that but she did knit lots of Aran jumpers.
