I’d started it for Gdcs’ primary school raffle - I’ve made a couple for their 🎄raffles before - they’ve always gone down well.
But found out the other week that they’re not having a raffle this year! Only a tombola, and I’m not donating it for that.

I asked dd to ask younger Gdd’s teacher whether they’d like it for the classroom (Y1, it’s a C of E school) or for anywhere else in the school, but haven’t heard yet.
We shall see…

They are lovely Witzend. I hope they take up your offer.

My church craft group are raffling similar sets off from next week. Maybe a local church raffle might appreciate it.

It looks lovely to me, and I couldn't make anything like this.

Exquisite Witzend, it really is, you are very talented. The true meaning of Christmas.

Beautiful work, Witzend, I would have loved a knitted Nativity set for my classroom when I taught Infants/ Early Years. So safe for the children to handle and become familiar with, learning and retelling each character's part of the Christmas Story.

I've seen some beautiful knitted sets in some of the schools I did supply teaching in before Lockdown.

Hope they find a good home.

That’s lovely Witzend. I hope a school will take you up on the offer. We had one very similar to it in our nursery class and the children loved it.

It's superb. Can you sell it and give the money to a charity of your choice or the school?
Someone will pay good money for

It is lovely. Maybe you could donate it to a church or charity raffle where the money will go to a good cause. You are very talented.

Witzend Tue 25-Nov-25 20:39:50

Thank you all for kind words. 🙂

Primrose53 Tue 25-Nov-25 20:45:12

Really lovely. You could also donate it to a charity shop in your area that you approve of. They could display it in their window and sell raffle tickets. About 15 years ago our charity shop did this and we easily raised £50 back then. Worth much more now.

Wow they’re fab! I hope you find a good home for them and raise some money at the same time

That's lovely, Witzend. I, too, had one in my classroom ( Early Years Teacher) and it was enjoyed by many children for many years.
I'm sure that any teacher of young children would appreciate it.

Witzend, that is so beautiful, I am sure any school would want it in reception or a local church..

Sarnia Wed 26-Nov-25 08:06:07

I hope the school accept your kind offer and have it in the entrance where everyone coming into the school can see and enjoy it.

Millie22 Wed 26-Nov-25 08:20:47

I think it's absolutely wonderful.

I crocheted a set just like that many moons ago when GC were very little and it comes out every year still. They loved putting Baby Cheeses in the crib!

Wyllow3 Wed 26-Nov-25 08:33:53

Its lovely, and very, very competent. wherever it finds a home, it will be loved. and bear in mind, if it doesn't find a home this year, you can enjoy it and next year start contacting folks early, it deserves a proper home.

I think it's good enough to be in a cathedral level place, and that could take some arranging in advance. I bet some places have a children's corner, but frankly its good enough for everyone to enjoy.

Wyllow3 Wed 26-Nov-25 08:35:53

..^it carries far more meaning in its bold simplicity than many a complex work^.

TBH I wouldn’t actually sell it. I’ve been asked before whether I would make one to order, but they involve such a huge amount of work, I just wouldn’t do it for what anyone would pay, only for e.g. a school, or for fundraising.

Anyway, this will positively be my last! First was for elder Gdcs when they were only 2 and 3, and Gds was still at the chuck and bash stage, and would have broken anything breakable in 5 minutes!
2nd was for their (C of E) pre school, and IIRC, 2 since for the primary school raffles.

I dare say this will finally find a suitable home somewhere! 🤞🎄
