Heartthrobs and Turn-offs

I was thinking recently about my favourite heart-throbs over the decades.
Also which actors/celebrities actually turned me off !
My heartthrobs are :
George Clooney (just think of the Nespresso ad!)
Aidan Turner (imagine Poldark)
Tom Hiddleston (remember The Night Manager)

My absolute turn off would be ... Arnold Swarznegger
So come on GN's ....three hearthrobs and one turn off.

There are quite a few gay chappies in the heartthrob lists there. (Just saying)

I wish I hadn't posted so early - lots of names have come up that I could have included! Ciaran Hinds is an interesting one. Would feel totally feminine and protected in his presence.

Andrew Lincoln, too - wasn't he in "Love Actually" the one who was secretly in love with Keira Knightley?

devongirl Wed 13-Sept-17 12:04:53

So many reading this thread! Don't know if anyone has mentioned him yet, but Adrian Dunbar (line of duty)!

Grandmasue - Colin Firth -' just out of the lake'! Ha ha, yes, OBVIOUSLY! grin

Perhaps we should have a 'heartthrob' (lust?) icon??? then again, perhaps not ...

quizqueen Wed 13-Sept-17 13:01:36

HEARTTHROBS- it's not just about looks but personality and beliefs
*Patrick Swayze- I was lucky enough to meet him several times and he was a really nice guy but unfortunately reeked of tobacco!
*Richard Gere- attractive and a Buddhist
*Jacob Rees-Mogg...sorry everyone, for his honesty and intelligence and I find his quirkiness attractive

TURN OFFs
*George Clooney-too smarmy and a lefty, likewise Benedict Cumberbatch
*Michael Caine- boring voice but he is a Brexiteer so maybe I should reconsider!
*Mick Jagger- he's looked like an old man even when he was young
* Johnny Depp- I used to fancy him but he looks like a washed up old druggie now

Lupin Wed 13-Sept-17 13:04:07

In my teens and watching old films on tele I really drooled over Robert Mitchum. That walk, that cleft chin.
In my mid years I liked Tom Berenger - sigh.
Now I like to look at Russell Crowe in Gladiator mode. What a hunk.
Because of his behaviour I can't take to Russell Brand - closely followed by Jonathan Ross.

Coconut Wed 13-Sept-17 13:09:57

As a teenager Yul Brynner, Steve McQueen, Paul Newman.
Now, Pierce Brosnan, Liam Neeson and Denzel Washington.
Turn offs : anyone arrogant i.e. Jeremy Clarkson, several MP's and that John McCirrick ( spelling ??) used to make me feel physically sick !!

LadyGracie Wed 13-Sept-17 13:43:59

Lucky you DanniRae, my OH was the spit of Robert Wagner in his younger days.
There are so many men who are/were heart throbs
Ty Hardin - Bronco
Clint Walker - Cheyenne Bodie
James Arness- Gunsmoke
Gary Cooper - High Noon
I was bought up on westerns and war films.

kittylester Alan Rickman when he was playing a villain was definitely my imaginery 'bit of rough' in a naughty way you understand!

grannysue05 Wed 13-Sept-17 14:19:25

What wonderful, wonderful posts.
I am glad that we all have someone to love/lust after.
I have loved reading the lists.
Interesting that Russell Brand and Jonathan Ross hit the turn off list frequently. (Behaviour ...Personality ? )

Nanny27 Wed 13-Sept-17 14:23:58

Agree with Missadventure about Idris Elba, lovely. Also Laurence Fishburn. Cant take my eyes of Jeff Hordley in Emmerdale either.
Turn off David Beckham.

W11girl Wed 13-Sept-17 14:25:54

Liam Neeson
Alan Rickman (never throught of him as a bit of rough!)
Ray Winstone
Idris Elba

All very strong males...mmmm!
