After yesterday's disaster is it over for Mrs May?

Anniebach Sat 07-Oct-17 15:25:29

True lemon, I am a Labour Party member I am not a Momentum - Corbyn devotee, I believe they want to destroy the Labour Party and are well on the way to doing so, much to the delight of the far left.

I will never vote Tory, I admire Mrs May and the cruel posts of her daring to speak publicly that she and her husband couldn't have children has sickened me . She is criticised for being so reserved, she opens up some emotions and is mocked by Corbynites, shame on them .

This nastiness has only started since Corbyn became leader, the bullying, threatening emails, threatening any MP who does not agree with Corbyn with deselection.

I have attended so many party conferences over the last fifty years, was present when Mandela joined us, when Stephen Lawrence's dad asked for help, when .kinnock spoke the truth about the militants , it's on uTube. I know my village of Aberfan was made to pay to have the tips removed because union bosses didn't want the NCB and the Labour Party at war. And was there when Blair said a labour government would give the money back to the village so the graves would have care after parents were dead.

The Labour Party has always been a family, bloody big rows but never threats aimed at it,s own MP's

Now we have a trot leading the party with a shadow cabinet of newbies to afraid to say boo.

Described in the press last week as - the new rising stars who failed to shine .

Yes I am distressed , I think of so many good people who served the party loyally, who cared deeply and worked hard. Now we have Corbynites, many as common as muck , many rough as old boots and I am ashamed to be a member of the same party even though a different branch

Baggs, loved your post on JRM , so funny

whitewave Sat 07-Oct-17 15:31:34

There are other theories about Mays position
One being that she is in the clutches of the loons who have everything to gain from crashing out of the EU, who are trying to get her away from the influence of the more moderate wing of her party by supporting her and propping her up -look at the way Gove has rushed to her support.

It is definately an enormous battle of wills as the loons know that they are loosing the argument which of course means the moderate wing have their tails up.

The catastrophe I think is that most of the Tory Party lack the integrity to put the country before self interest.

Anniebach Sat 07-Oct-17 15:46:52

And the Labour leadership lack integrity full stop.

GillT57 Sat 07-Oct-17 16:29:30

Cripes, this has all got a bit nasty and personal. All we were asked was whether we thought it was all over for Mrs May after the speech disaster! Surely all of us, irrespective of our politics can feel sorry for TM?

norose4 Sat 07-Oct-17 16:37:21

It's all a b ----y mess , why anyone listened to
Nigelweaslefarrage I will never know, stirred it all up then cut & run . It's been down hill ever since .

Anniebach Sat 07-Oct-17 16:37:50

I felt so very sorry for her Gill , she did not cause the idiot to give the sham P45, she was not responsible for two letters falling, even though it was described as the set disintegrating, and to keep going with miserable cough , I admire her.

Ilovecheese Sat 07-Oct-17 16:40:03

I think most of us did feel for her during the speech, but no Prime Minister wants the country to feel sorry for them, they want to country to trust them and maybe admire them.
Us feeling sorry for her must be the last thing she wants.

(says a Labour supporter who would probably be described by some as 'common as muck')

trisher Sat 07-Oct-17 16:58:51

You feel sorry for her- how bloody condescending! How many of you would feel sorry for a man in a similar position? Not many I bet. It would be "He hasn't got leadership qualities" "He made a bloody mess of it" "He needs to man up". Instead you go on about how sad it is that she had a cold (did she?) that she was subjected to a prank (she should be capable of responding and one of her speech writers/advisers jobs to equip her with jokes and repartee). She made a pig's arse of speech some of which was nicked from a US TV show. She's the PM for goodness sake. She's supposed to be negotiating the toughest deal of the century and she can't make a speech to the Tory faithful. Don't be sorry for her, be bloody worried about the rest of us!

Anniebach Sat 07-Oct-17 17:06:43

The thought of Corbyn being in power is enough to cause a panic attack , I can cope with worry, fear is much worse .

whitewave Sat 07-Oct-17 17:07:09

As soon as you feel sorry for a PM they have lost.

whitewave Sat 07-Oct-17 17:11:46

It shows that the Tories have no guts. May is finished, but at the moment none of the Tory Party has the guts to admit it.

I think that the Tory Party is in a long death throw. They haven’t the vote of either the young or the ethnic minorities. Their electorate are dying, it will be a while but it will happen

Anniebach Sat 07-Oct-17 17:12:09

Wrong, you may think that Trisher doesn't make it true . I would feel sorry male or female who had those three incidents happen none being their fault. You know she didn't have a cold? What inside info do you have?

So her script writers should have been prepared for the P45 stunt and written an appropriate reply in advanced ? Oh that we all had crystal balls

Anniebach Sat 07-Oct-17 17:14:08

The Labour Party is finished, we have a new party in it's place

whitewave Sat 07-Oct-17 17:19:56

Still bloody worried about the country. Feeling sorry for our PM cuts no ice abroad or indeed in the country if you are a family in a cockroach infested room paying £900 pm, or a family from Grenfell, or a public worker who has spent year after year having their salary cut or a student who leaves university with unimagenable debt to our age group.
On and on it goes

trisher Sat 07-Oct-17 17:21:17

So you are now the arbiter of what is the Labour Party Annie? delusions of grandeur or what?
"None being their fault" she chose her speech writers, she couldn't respond to a challenge, she coughed- never sneezed, never blew her nose, never sniffed. All present for colds. No cold just an excuse.
Watch some old speech clips when there were hecklers and people responded with wit and humour. It can be done.

Anniebach Sat 07-Oct-17 17:40:52

and you Trisher have a medical degree as well as having full knowledge of the thoughts of every politician ?

I do think a woman or man of breeding can make a good P
M, but I am not an inverted snob .

Big difference in being heckled in the past and now in times of terrorism have someone rush up to you . I have heard great responses from female politicians, Babara Castle was great at dealing with hecklers, she never had to deal with terrorism though.

mostlyharmless Sat 07-Oct-17 17:51:15

Theresa May cannot ad lib - it has to be scripted. Nicola Sturgeon says, in a one to one meeting, there are no pleasantries, no small talk, she pointedly ignores any sympathetic enquiries - just straight into the script which she reads from.
She preferred Cameron's welcoming manner and warmth.

Blinko Sat 07-Oct-17 17:55:32

I think in all this, the Tories have confirmed that they are indeed the nasty party!

maryeliza54 Sat 07-Oct-17 18:06:19

Breeding? You mean like wot they do wiv horses and dogs ( common as muck and rough as old boots I am despite not being a Corbynite) Breeding ? Breeding? Breeding?

GracesGranMK2 Sat 07-Oct-17 18:06:21

The Labour Party is finished, we have a new party in it's place

What world are you living in? Historically, when Blair turned the Labour Party into New Labour that is when they tried to end the Labour Party. It appeared to be finish - but obviously not. It's members have said what they want.

Now New Labour will have to go away and join New (or old) Conservatives and create another party - just a you do when you, without exception, join up with the Conservatives on here AB. My guess is that it will then appeal even more to the over 70s and slowly die out.

maryeliza54 Sat 07-Oct-17 18:07:12

Sorry - meant 'orses of course

Anniebach Sat 07-Oct-17 18:14:04

Yet Corbyn wears the red rose, hypocrite .

I do not side up with Tory supporters, to do support posters who do not bully and mock regardless of their politics

So Blair winning three elections was him trying to end the Labour Party, yet the far left causing the wilderness years is the true Labour Party?

Some need to step out of their comfort zone and talk to people of all parties.

GracesGranMK2 Sat 07-Oct-17 18:14:07

I do think a woman or man of breeding can make a good PM

Careful AB - you will be talking about eugenics next. Not nice at all. As for

but I am not an inverted snob

I think you will find that is for others to judge.

Anniebach Sat 07-Oct-17 18:17:40

No GG, no one joins this forum to be judged, decent people allow all to express their opinions, poisoned minds sadly do not .
