Phoenix it doesn't matter exactly where the diarrhea happened - you were covered in germs already and everything you touched would have had at least one noro microbe on it. It's amazing just how infectious that bug is, from what I've read!

Oh it was in the car park before you went into the shop! Not so bad then. Apparently they've been working on a jab against it for years but not a huge amount of luck as it refuses to grow in the lab without a human body.

Phoenix, please ask your GP practice for a sample bottle, the sooner a test is done in case it is not norovirus the better.
I had a very similar experience but the norovirus that was diagnosed turned out to be campylobacter.
It can travel to the heart and brain and is very serious.
I ended up being blue lighted to hospital, thankfully the sample I’d sent off previously was fast tracked and the right antibiotics were administered.

No don't go to the GP, you'll just end up giving it to a load of people with chronic illnesses who will become even sicker than you have been. Please, everyone with this common but unpleasant bug just stay home?

Went to bed just after 10, between then and around 7.30 I had to get up 8 times to go to the toilet. On one occasion had to change pants & pjs, as I wasn't quite quick enough.

Also quite a change in what is actually coming out. (Colour and consistency)

Don't know how much longer I can put up with pain in abdomen and lower back.

So do I phone 111 again, or wait until tomorrow and phone GP to request a home visit?

Noro virus is very efficient at reproducing and mutates all the time so nothing is going to stop it. The spread is not confined to things you touch but is in droplet form in the air.
DH once went into the gents at a service station, took one step through the door and turned on his heel as there was a man projectile vomiting, by the time we reached home DH was very ill.
I often wonder where this bug came from, I don't remember anything as vicious as this when I was a child.

I think when we were children, people were a lot stricter about isolating sick people and one was told to stay in bed when unwell. So things didn't spread quite as freely. Nowadays there tends to be a feeling that it's a bit wimpish to sit around when sick and people push themselves to carry on - so they meet more people while carrying germs.

Phoenix it's doctor time. This has gone on a bit long. You are at risk of dehydration. Call the doctor!

Phoning 111 should result in a visit btw I didn't mean waiting till tomorrow.

I agree with Jane10, this seems more than a 24 hour bug and perhaps it's time to have a test to find out what the appropriate treatment should be.

Phoenix, Do you by any chance take omeprazole or ranitidine for acid reflux or similar?

When DH recently had Cdiff (symptoms very similar to yours)
he was told to stop taking omeprazole as it can lead to Cdiff - even though his was caused by long term antibiotics.

Phoned 111, will get a call back from a doctor within 6 hours, but was advised they don't usually do visits for this sort of thing because of the risk of infecting others!

merlot no to both, only things I take regularly are my inhalers for COPD.

phoenix not sure how old you are and I know it should not matter but the older we get the more at risk we are. You have had the bug for over 24 hours and it still sounds bad possibly it is some kind of food poisoning as that often gives more abdomen pain than the usual bug.
Have you ever tried Imodium? it's for diarrhoea it is quite good and usually works quickly but of course professional advice could be what you need.

Some news, Doctor phoned back and wanted me to go to Barnstaple to be seen. She then realised how long it would take to get there (about 45 minutes minimum) and is sending a doctor to me.

I'll be interested to know if the doctor bothers to wear a mask. There have been accusations in the media that medical professionals are not as careful about spreading infection as they could be.

That's what they need to do, the doctor can give you the best advice and hopefully you will soon be on the mend.

Very nice Doctor has just been, given me codeine for pain relief, and a nice little tube with a small spatula in it.

Somehow I dont think it's for serving the salt at the table, but pretty sure it's designed to be single use!
