Hello all,

Feeling rather less than tickety boo confused

Freezing cold and shivering (heating is on and turned up to almost 23 shock) headache.

Was fine this morning, until halfway through my mug of tea, when I suddenly had to dash to the loo.

It wasnt pretty, a mop and bucket had to be deployed blush

Had a shower, and a slice of dry toast, waited until I thought it was safe, and set off to Lidl.

Gentle reader, if you are of a sensitive disposition, look away now.

On getting out of the car, the world fell out of my bottom shockblush Fortunately I was wearing dark jeans.

Back in car (carrier bag on seat, just in case). Indoors, clothes in the washing machine and another shower.

It is since then that I have had the bad headache and felt so very cold. I'm usually the one complaining that house is too hot!

Any ideas? I'm not usually prone to bowel problems.

Hope you soon feel better Pheonix, just horrible for you.

Sorry to hear about your bug Phoenix it can make you feel ghastly. You are braver than I am when it comes to dealing with the diarrhea part if I am feeling that bad I am straight to bed with some bottled water and just sleep it off. No thoughts of getting to any shops as no way am I going to have loss of down below bodily function in any supermarket.
First 24 hours is usually the worst and someone else on here mentioned the B.R.A.T. recovery diet it stands for bananas, rice, cooked apple, dry toast. It works for me and when feeling better the apple can be some of that one like the apple sauce in a jar which is delicious with a jacket potato.
If I was you I would definitely give a miss to the curry for a while longer just to be on the safe side.

Sounds like the bug that has been plaguing DH and me for the last week or so.

Hope you get over it soon.

ReadyMeals Sat 25-Jan-20 13:26:08

You've just got noro. It's like flu in many ways except the bottom is runny instead of the nose.

ReadyMeals Sat 25-Jan-20 13:27:22

To cheer you up, everyone in the shop you visited is now sharing your discomfort smile

seadragon Sat 25-Jan-20 13:34:14

I suggest you ring 111 to check out your symptoms against Campylobacter. I had this a few years ago and your experience sounds worryingly similar. At one point, before diagnosis, I had to wear padding to go out... The source in my case was a dairy pasteurizer which wasn't working... We were having the lovely local milk delivered to our doorstep...

sarahellenwhitney Sat 25-Jan-20 13:37:49

Contact NHS 111 for advice This is an excellent service and helped me when I needed advice in the early hours for an unpleasant reaction I experienced from prescription meds.

Littleannie Sat 25-Jan-20 13:43:41

Does no one read posts? The OP has already phoned 111 and been diagnosed with norovirus by the doctor she spoke to.

Marmight Sat 25-Jan-20 13:48:03

Littleannie ???

grannyrebel7 Sat 25-Jan-20 14:20:43

My daughter had this and it went through her jeans and onto her sofa! Left a nasty stain too. She was ok after a few days though thankfully.

callgirl1 Sat 25-Jan-20 16:57:33

We had norovirus here a few years ago. Started with me, coming out of both ends at once, then my husband started, then my disabled daughter, who, as she can`t move very quickly, was in even more of a mess than we were. Altogether, between the 3 of us, it lasted a week. I hope we never get it again.

Naty Sat 25-Jan-20 17:28:12

Omg sounds horrific. Stay home. Drink. Sleep. Take temp! No advice, otherwise.

BGM1W Sat 25-Jan-20 17:46:21

Could be Noro Virus.

grannyactivist Sat 25-Jan-20 17:53:03

Phoenix only you could turn this sort of happening into a comedy! grin

I had the same thing happen to me last week, (now followed by a dreaded kidney infection [groan]) so have been barely able to raise an eyebrow, never mind a smile, but - yes, you made me chuckle. grin Get well soon.

phoenix Sat 25-Jan-20 17:56:01

Readymeals as mentioned, it happened in the car park, not in the shop.

Getting very fed up with the pain, like contractions but with pain in the kidney region of my back added for good measure.

Iam64 Sat 25-Jan-20 18:23:15

Sorry to read this phoenix but sadly, unsurprised. The Lurgy has been striking almost all of us. I was half way through a bowl of rather good home made chicken soup when suddenly - never been so sick in my life. Off to bed -same as you, hot water bottles, heating up high, freezing cold, feet like ice blocks. Mine morphed into a hideous sinus infection so I'm on antibiotics and 4 weeks later beginning to feel a bit better

phoenix Sat 25-Jan-20 20:23:13

Oh ga you have been poorly, hope you are mending now.

xxx

Iam64 apparently antibiotics are no good for Norovirus, but will see how it goes and may go to see my GP on Monday.

Of course if my bottom is still playing up, I may have to replace the driving seat with a commode...........

Callistemon Sat 25-Jan-20 20:34:23

On the minus side you feel dreadful
On the plus side you may lose some weight (of course you may not want to)

I will wave from a distance as I would make a terrible nurse

Willow500 Sat 25-Jan-20 20:35:11

I had something like this a couple of years ago - it lasted nearly a week and I felt more dreadful as the week wore on which I think with hindsight was dehydration even though I was drinking water. Someone suggested mashed banana which was the first thing I managed to eat - when I fancied fish finger sandwiches I knew I was on the mend. Hope you feel better soon.

Callistemon Sat 25-Jan-20 20:36:06

Bananas are good invalid food.

phoenix Sat 25-Jan-20 21:20:54

I really, really cannot stand bananas!

Managed a boiled egg earlier, just hope it's on the approved list (I know it's not included in Brat) and am keeping up the dioralyte, even though the blackcurrant one is vile.

Callistemon Sat 25-Jan-20 21:29:38

Sorry!

If it tastes awful it must be good for you, or so they used to say when I was a child!
I never did believe them.

annodomini Sat 25-Jan-20 22:22:19

When I had a truly vicious tropical bug, a local doctor told me to avoid protein and fibre for a week after the symptoms had gone, so I lived on white bread and honey until I could face anything more substantial. The two times I've had norovirus, I've done the same.

justwokeup Sun 26-Jan-20 02:48:10

Headache is often due to dehydration. OH had to go into hospital with similar symptoms, but made very much worse due to dehydration. Once there he had to drink all day long and was on a drip too, so don't underestimate how much you need to drink to rehydrate. Incidentally he was told bugs affect people differently as we'd eaten the same food but he had campylobacter. Hope you are feeling better very soon Phoenix.

NannyG123 Sun 26-Jan-20 08:56:56

I know there's a tummy bug going around. Could be that. Hope you soon feel better Phoenix.
