I'm looking for inspiration and do like to know what the nation is eating! smile

Mixed grill for me today, I got some fresh tomatoes before instead of opening a large tin. I love fried tomatoes with it.

Vegetable mousakka for us tonight. I even made the bechamel sauce and it didn’t go lumpy. Think I’m getting quite good at this cooking Larky

Using up left overs too.
Beef ragu with cheese and garlic bread and of course a large glass of red wine.

Roast chicken last night with roast potatoes, broccoli cheese, peas, carrots and gravy. Tonight we will have the remainder of the chicken cold with bubble and squeak and mango chutney on the side.

Puzzler61 Mon 04-May-20 15:55:30

Beef and red wine casserole, dauphinois potatoes and green beans accompanied by a glass of Thatcher’s gold cider.

merlotgran Mon 04-May-20 15:56:29

Vegetable goulash with chickpeas and Jersey potatoes.

A bit of a use up!

Puzzler61 Mon 04-May-20 15:56:43

TerriBull I love bubble & squeak.

Rosalyn69 Mon 04-May-20 16:09:21

Beef and ginger casserole with mashed swede and peas.

TerriBull Mon 04-May-20 16:19:34

Yes I love it too Puzzler, I don't know whether it travels well though, otherwise I would smile Anyway you can't complain, you're having Dauphinoise Potatoes, more than alright, not to mention the beef and red wine casserole!

Chicken dhansak cooked by DS1 and then into the garden for toasted marshmallows and wine (in our coats- it’s sunny but chilly here)

Yiayia4 Mon 04-May-20 16:44:30

Slow cooked beef in beer with Spring greens and Jersey Royal potatoes with mint from the garden.

I managed to get an Iceland delivery slot (been existing on bread and scrape and chewing gum for days now) and today's the Day! Delivery before noon and there's a chicken in my order. Sage and onion stuffing made, I'll roast some tats and make a huuuuge tomato salad. Joy Unlimited!

Charleygirl5 Tue 05-May-20 11:01:14

My Morrisons delivery came 3 hours early! I will be having spag bol tonight and I will open a bottle of red because I need some for cooking! I will make enough for 3-4 portions- tonight, tomorrow and freeze the remainder.

TerriBull Tue 05-May-20 11:49:33

Homemade lasagne tonight to use up surplus milk in the sauce. I'm getting a Tesco delivery this evening, couldn't believe it when a slot became available a week or so ago. Hope all my essentials will arrive. I was congratulating myself when I saw self raising flour was available when compiling my initial list, but on a subsequent edit, it's now unavailable. What a surprise! Never mind did manage to pick up a kg of plain flour in Marks last week, so shouldn't really complain.

Re: IKEA meatballs

I've halved the recipe which will give us five good sized meatballs each.

Er, Merlot I think you weren't very 'Swedish' in your approach here - they're supposed to be small balls, so to speak grin

I've just spent ages balling the little blighters and they're now firming-up in the fridge for a few hours!

Riverwalk Tue 05-May-20 18:38:50

Not bad but a bit of a palaver!

I prefer more robust meatballs - the other three portions will go in the freezer to be eaten if Lockdown goes to the wire.

merlotgran Tue 05-May-20 18:55:29

They were certainly very filling, Riverwalk grin

We had prawn risotto tonight. Oh dear, more carbs!

merlotgran Tue 05-May-20 20:04:01

I had to freeze some of ours as well.

paddyanne Tue 05-May-20 21:18:37

hunters chicken for OH ,plain pasta with oil and garlic for me ,a banana split for the man with the sweet tooth .Just as well he keeps busy to work it off.

Riverwalk Thu 07-May-20 16:22:19

More flippin' Nando's peri peri chicken - from the freezer, I'd made three portions.

Oh, I've had enough of this lockdown cooking lark - I want to go out and eat something cooked and served by someone else! grin

The wine is chilling, so all is well really smile

paddyanne Thu 07-May-20 16:26:09

chicken and leek soup for me ,Lamb gigot chop and veg for the OH fruit salad using everything thats left in the fruit bowl

merlotgran Thu 07-May-20 17:01:00

Tandoori Chicken, chips and salad for us tonight.

phoenix Thu 07-May-20 17:10:19

Chicken, bacon and mushroom pie, with tender stem broccoli.

(Picture taken before cooking!)

kittylester Thu 07-May-20 17:12:14

We are having a sausage, chilli and mushroom pasta sauce with pasta and enough left to freeze.

Riverwalk are there no pubs or restaurants doing deliveries near you.

We have someone who trained at 2 Michelin * restaurants running a supper club delivery service.

They do a 'posh' night, a pie night and sunday lunch. And a few pubs in the village do pop up nights. One has had Italian, curry and fish and chip nights.

I love cooking but a break is good too, isnt it?
