This is the most bizarre experience for me. I have this very pretty Staffordshire vase I bought at a vintage fair. But every time I look at it I get a cold feeling. It's like the vase isn't happy. Such a weird thing to say. I've never had this with anything else in my house. I've tried moving it around, putting it in different positions but the feeling doesn't go away. It's like it exudes unhappiness. I'm going to have to get rid of it. Have you ever had an experience like this?

I know its not really relevant to this interesting thread but I used to work in a psychiatric hospital and one day as I was walking across the car park a lady came in through the gates and threw back her head and mooed very loudly. She seemed to feel satisfied after that. Nodded to herself and walked on. I've often wondered if I should try it too as she seemed to derive so much pleasure from it.

We stayed at my daughters house which was closer to the hospital where my Mum was dying. Shortly after Mums death we drove back to daughters house. Mum use to smoke and a few months after her death my daughter, who had just found out she was pregnant, had walked into a bedroom and smelt cigarette smoke. Grandma perhaps letting her know she was pleased. Daughter has 2 children now and they have described an old woman who resembles my Mum visiting them at night to tuck them in. In daughters sitting room she has a photo on a shelf which is quite a way from the settee. The photo is found on the settee when daughter goes through a rough time. My Mum was always worried about said daughter and I believe she is still looking after her.

Many years ago, when DC was little, we went on a family holiday to the Isle of Wight. Whilst there we went browsing round an auction rooms company in Newport that sold off house clearances etc. DH spotted a small wooden box that had an unusual clasp; it was of the face of a goblin or sprite, possibly brass or copper metal, and very old. The face was the most evil looking thing I've ever seen and it emanated menace. I couldn't even touch it. DH though it was "an interesting piece" and wanted to buy it but there was no way on earth I'd have allowed that thing in the house.

I have had several, not pleasant, haunting experiences, but not that of objects.
It is known that objects can retain an 'energy ' from whence it came. If it gives you an uncomfortable feeling I would tend to get rid of it.
Alternatively, if you really like it, you could get it blessed by a priest to rid it of any nastiness?

My DGS was just twelve months old when his GF died. One day, aged 4, he came to spend the day and asked to have the toy box out of the garden shed. I unlocked the door and a delighted little voice piped up "Look Granny, Grampy is in the garden shed". This was not the only experience from this small child and his deceased grandfather. Make of that what you will.

I have a parking angel. She helps me out when I ask her to find me a spot. She has never failed me and I usually get a space just after either my husband or I have called her.

stick it out in the garden . and wash it .........get the bad vibes from it .... i have a china leopard quite big ,sits on my window sill indoors .it was from a zulu lady that i cleaned house for.,(had i not had it .it would have gone in the house clearance...) .i have washed it inside and out,,,and talked to it...(laugh) yet i still feel a sense of unease....naza zulu lady was the kindest lady ever ,we were great friends and i helped her get more animals (african) for her fireplace.i feel she wanted me to have the leopard. but why the unease i dont know. i did try and sell it ,but backed out at last minute...had a buyer from africa too..so it sits on the window sill looking out.

Daisymae

The tree was a ballerina - main trunk pruned - when I bought it, but I have never pruned it and it's quite well behaved.

Was it this ballerina tree?

I know that the ghosts float about my house on occasions but I
do not fear them just know they pop in and out. Ages ago a small musical trinket box in living room started to play the little tune when it had not been touched, I let it play and thought no more.
Glad this thread came up because also three days ago I went in my little downstairs bathroom where there is the empty box of a new hoover I bought. I had taken the box out and hoovered in the bathroom and pushed the box in there for a moment. I went in the bathroom the next morning to move the box and just beside it was one of those radiator keys that you bleed the radiators with, I checked in my kitchen cupboard and my four radiator keys were in there. So this time my ghost left a key for the radiator, explain it I can't but certainly something visits my house. Oh and to add to that one of my dogs that always sleeps downstairs on the Friday morning she was upstairs and curled up on an old rug and I was most surprised to see her there when I got up, perhaps the ghost frightened her.

This is such an interesting thread. I wonder if anyone has felt a sudden vibration around them. I sometimes get this strange sensation and was once told it was something to do with auras. It could be something or perhaps nothing?

I have had a few experiences, seen a white dog in the house and not long after found out that our dog that we had had to give away had died. I have seen a cat sitting on the landing and when I have gone to stroke it, it had vanished. I have had my hair stroked in the night and felt the bed dip as the person sat on it. I think it was my Dad as it was not long after he had died. He also stood at the bottom of my bed and walked around and went up some stairs (which was my en suite bathroom) I called to him but he kept going. When my father in law died I was at his house using his computer as my then Husband took over his business. I knew he was behind me watching what I was doing. I could feel and smell him. The last time I went into that house, my boys were playing in the lounge and I was typing in the 'office'. The smell arrived and then a groaning noise. We left very quickly and never went back.

Not had any issues with objects. Had just one ghostly encounter coming back from Brighton along the old A23 about 35 years ago. There were no streetlights, it was dark, full beam headlights, dual carriageway, central reservation about 20/30 feet wide, dense with trees either side. We were just passing the old inn called the Bolney Stage when both my wife and I saw what we described at the time as the phantom image of a coach and horses crossing our path and disappearing into the trees. Very scary!!

We once bought a pretty bungalow which turned cold every evening at 7pm. Each time my daughter visited she found something to quarrel about and left early. Invited my aunt for a week but after 3 days she left without explanation, then invited an old friend and she did the same thing. Neither spoke to us again. After just a few months we were glad to sell it to a builder in exchange for a new house.

Our home is haunted. When we first moved in the freezer was switched off frequently until we got the plug moved. The doorbell would go off at all times, we dismantled it. The decorator left his radio behind we woke up to Ruby Ruby Ruby belting out in the early hours, he said it was impossible to switch on itself. I was signing for a parcel from Hermes when his van radio suddenly woke the whole road up he ran back to switch it off said it had never happened before. Told him it was resident ghost but he said wife would not believe it. What spooked us was hearing heavy footsteps walk across bedroom above, the dog went ballistic. We are moving.

The brain is a marvelous thing. It can conjure up all manner
of interesting imaginings. If you believe in ghosts, you will surely encounter one. I know many people who are believers and indeed see ghosts and assorted weird happenings. Personally, I think it nonsense and have never encountered any supernatural happenings and expect never will.

Ooh, you’re tempting fate now poops !
The thing is, it’s easy to dismiss quite a few things, but not so easy with others.
I try to keep an open mind about it all. Can you imagine trying to explain electricity to somebody from the year 1300?
Well, perhaps this is the same sort of thing and one day it will be explained ( or some of it anyway.)
In fact, talking of electricity.....it may hold the key to many strange happenings.

GreenGran78 Sun 16-Aug-20 21:55:12

I have never experienced anything spooky, but I’m sure that there must be many things in the world that have yet to be explained. Magnetism must have seemed very weird and scary when it was first discovered, and imagine the effect of things such as electricity to anyone from the past. Perhaps there will be a rational explanation for these odd occurrences in the future.

My son and daughter-in-law decided they didn't want to know the sex of their unborn child , preferring a lovely surprise. Four months into her pregnancy they were intrigued to find two balloons on their driveway exclaiming "it's a girl!".It was an extremely windy day, yet these balloons stubbornly refused to blow away.
A few weeks later I was doing some gardening for them when something nudged my back: it was a pink balloon bobbing around in the air. Every time I lunged to catch it it floated out of my reach, until it was whisked away into the sky.
When talking about this my daughter -in-law said when her Mum was expecting her , her Dad didn't want to know the sex of the baby, her Mum wasn't too happy about this. She found out it was a girl and told her husband and everyone else too.
Her Mum died four years ago. Daughter- in- law said it's just the kind of trick her Mum would play.
Oh by the way, she had a girl!

Sorry my "???", was in reply to
quizqueen's "Honda cow-car", I did think that was funny, I had never believed in "ghosts" and was always afraid of the "afterlife", that was up until I, my eldest daughter, mother and sister went to see a 'medium' or "spooky man", as I called him then, the man was going to be working in the front top bedroom of a small 2 bedroom house, when it was my turn to go up and see him, up I went nervous but not expecting too much, as I knocked on the door and entered I was somewhat surprised to see the man that was sitting there, for earlier on in the evening as we were coming up to the front door of the house, in the front upstairs bedroom, (the bedroom the man was going to be working in), I had seen(100% honestly I actually did see), a rather tall-thin man with white/grey hair standing with his back to the window of the bedroom, the "spooky man's" first words words to me were, 'you were not expecting to see me were you?, probably in p p to the "quizzical" look on my face, for he was a younger man with quite dark hair and not very tall, I actually got goose bumps with what he said next which was "that was your father you saw at the window" ???, my father was a tall thin man with grey/white hair!!!, and from then on I 100% believe in the "afterlife" and "ghosts", seeing my father along with other things I was told that night, things that I have never ever!, discussed with anyone, told me that the man was 100% genuine and everything he said was so very very true, since then Iam no longer afraid of "ghosts" and always think, that a person has more to worry about from the "living" rather than the "dead".

Burn sage in the house

I have never seen a ghost but feel “atmospheres” in houses. A colleague at work moved house and invited us all to go and see it. She gave us a tour and when we reached the one bedroom it felt so terrible I couldn’t go in it and had to go back downstairs.

Another time I went upstairs in a friends house to use the bathroom and realised I’d never been upstairs before. I said to her she had a cold spot on the bend of the stairs. She said the previous owner, an elderly man had fallen down the stairs and had died on the bend.

After my son died I heard his voice calling my name and woke up once to feel breath on my face as if he was by the side of the bed but I’ve never seen him.

I've never believed in ghosts, but after an experience a few years ago had to change my mind.

After buying my current house I would get an uneasy feeling while watching TV at night, it was as if someone was watching and even though I made absolutely certain all windows/blinds/doors/etc were closed, the feeling persisted. Then I saw a man in a dark wool dressing gown standing at the bottom of the stairs, at first he might be there one a week then it got to be every night.

I remembered the next door neighbour (now since sold and moved away) said the previous owner's DH had died and that's why she sold the house and moved to a small villa, not far from this house.

So I pulled out the legal papers from the sale to get her address and that night when he was standing at the bottom of the stairs watching me while I was watching TV, I said to him 'Oh Mr xxx your DW doesn't live here any longer, you will find her at xxx street which is just up the hill, turn left etc etc'. He stood there for a minute and shuffled off...previously he would just disappear and no shuffling could be heard, but this night was different. He also seemed to go 'Humph' and drop his shoulders, whereas he never made a sound previously.

He hasn't returned and that was around 6 yrs ago! Call that weird (I do) but his continued presence for 2 years was giving me the creeps, so I was willing to try anything, not even expecting it would work.

A Swedish friend who lived for some years in Thailand had a fellow Swedish friend there, who moved house. Her maid instantly said it was a very bad house, bad spirits there! (such beliefs apparently being common in Thailand.).

Of course the Swedish woman pooh-poohed the idea, but pretty soon everything did start to go wrong - work, problems with the actual house, illness in the family, you name it.

The maid kept insisting that it was the house, and eventually they did move again, whereupon everything very soon improved greatly.

As my extremely practical and level-headed friend said, it does make you wonder....
