I am working now till Sunday evening. We have just got back from a lovely walk round Fountains Abbey. I'm just having a coffee to revive myself! Going to watch some of The Crown after a new year's day tea.

What are you doing today?
(154 Posts)I know we don't have many choices but I'm trying to get the new year off to a dynamic start
I've been a bit lazy of late, to put it mildly, so trying to remedy that and not have too many Groundhog Days.
I'm having a second coffee whilst I plan my day!
A pampering day at home.Facepack and facial.Hair masque, manicure, toenails and fingernails painted.Drinking plenty of water.Time to take care of myself today.
I've been to see my mum and dad and took them a few groceries. We took the dog with us in the car and stopped on the way back to walk him, rather than go out again later. We've just enjoyed a lovely rumps teak with roasties, and an onion pepper and mushroom mix. I've now got a large glass of Casillero de diablo and am enjoying doing Christmas jigsaw
I have not done a lot! Tidied up, cleaned the kitchen, had lunch. Watched the New Year's Day concert from Vienna, and am just now watching the film 'Tea with Mussolini', which I haven't seen before. Having a bit of a wobble, as I am unlikely to see anyone else for at least the weekend. I keep looking over to where DH used to sit and wishing he were there. Sorry to be so down. Ah well, must grin and bear it. Curry for dinner tonight, plus a glass of wine to cheer me up.
Ladyleftfieldlover I would normally take my tree down on Twelfth Night too, but this year it's already down and put away due to a puppy-shaped chewing machine that entered our lives two days ago! She's cute, but doing what all puppies do. She was a planned purchase and we know what to expect - basically two years of hell - so that's why the tree was taken down the day before she arrived.
Took some groceries from our delivery round to my daughter, and had a socially distanced chat outside complete with masks. She is in our bubble, but we're all worried now with this new variant roaring through the country, so we've used our own common sense instead of saying 'well we're in a bubble so we're allowed'.
After that I came home, cooked some sausage rolls for lunch, and then did some sewing, before coming on here to while away some time before I have to go and prepare dinner ?
Sorted debris from last night, emptied the dishwasher, did a bit of the jigsaw, went for a 5 mile walk, shower, late lunch, wrote a book review and now going to read. Going to restart Italian on Babbel before dinner. Trying to walk 5k every day, at least.
Our trimmings are down as well. Enough is enough. ?
Dog got out her first very slippy walk this morning, but hailstones all afternoon so hasn't got out again. I turned up 3 new pairs of trousers and curtains. Decorated a pavlova I made late last night and now going to cook a big steak and have a piece of the pavlova. A friend is collecting 2 slices of it for him and his wife from my doorstep, so I don't eat the whole thing myself!
I've reorganised the kitchen cupboards, found some things to donate to the foodbank and now on here. Tomorrow the decorations come down so it will be a tidy up and repack everything.
After making breakfast, I spent the morning watching TV with hubby, and have cleaned the bathroom, and the fridge and cooked dinner since then. Now checking emails and Gransnet. I really should do some washing and ironing, but it's raining hard and my "get up and go" has definitely gone for the day!
Hope you start improving daffydilly sorry you had to be readmitted best wishes to all for a better new year.
Feeling sad!
Been for a walk with DH this morning, making second lot of marmalade, usually do about five lots! I have two slices of toast and marmalade every morning. Chicken curry out of the freezer tonight.
PurplePoppies - I feel for you. You will always miss your mum and emotions can hit when you're not expecting it. The feelings become less raw. I thought I was coping only to have a meltdown later. Perhaps it's for the best you are feeling grief and start to heal. Best wishes to you.
Still cleaning bits of my kitchen which I can reach after our fire on Christmas Eve,as we are still waiting for the insurance company to come and estimate the damage.Done the food cupboards, plate cupboard and glasses cupboard. Not doing too much as the kitchen has to be replaced.
Usual huge dinner for 7 here then a snooze in front of the fire while littlies play (noisily) upstairs. 2nd load just gone in the dishwasher and maybe I will see if anyone wants any supper.
Didn’t get to bed until 4am, so we had a lie-in until noon. Light lunch, few phone calls with family, checked emails and messages, went for a walk, baked potatoes for dinner and now we’re going to watch a movie. I’ll probably nod off ?
DS went out for a walk with GF who we haven't seen for ages, although she's our bubble and I did some clearing up, listened to Radio 3 in the morning and watched Robin Hood Prince of Thieves, How to train your dragon and University Challenge this afternoon/evening while enjoying a nice Highland Coffee from my new Irish Coffee set. Until the cold spell is over and we are able to go to the shops, I'm not going out (I need to visit the Vodafone shop to get my sim put into my new mobile). Does anyone know why mobile phone shops and WH Smiths aren't essential shopping? - I can't live without an endless supply of puzzle magazines, books, stationery, arty stuff etc and as a total non-techy, mobile phones are much smarter than I am - I rely on the shop assistants to set up new models and then don't use them for anything but phone calls, occasional texts and photos.
Ive had a long beach walk with a friend, keeping 2 meters apart and masked. Now I'm ready for my bed, have spoken to my daughter and gd. So off to bed, happy New year everyone x
Daffydilly - I do hope you get well soon xx
l moved home a month ago, so am still getting rid of bits after sorting what can be kept etc.
Starting a short daily walk.
While typing, why use abrieviations that people do not understand? l thought DD was a direct debit. NYD, GD what they all?
???
Don’t we say what we are going to do each day on the Good Morning thread?
Or these days, more often what we are not going to do - a day in town, meet up with friends, go out to lunch, have the grandchildren to stay.....
Bad back but getting better means stretching exercises in bed, get up, give cats meds with tiny bit of food then ice pack on back while I do this post, 10 min brisk walk round block, feed cats properly, then 20 minute meditation. After that leisurely breakfast while reading delivered paper. Will be about 11 by then.
After that a potter round house, then a half hour walk, coming back to apple and a cup of tea. Sudoku, latest Michae Connelly. Lunch, nap, potter, read. 10 min walk, potter, tv news tea and bics at 6, meditate, dinner, tv, ice pack and exercises, read in bed, turn out the light. Called everyone and picked up some stuff from daughter yesterday so a peaceful day today but gotta keep.moving because of the back.
Decorations will come down on Wednesday. Was going to peg out sheets but having looked at the weather forecast we are going to have more snow so looks like sorting out the fridge and kitchen cupboards (again)! Maybe sort the old shoes too to make way for the new ones I have ordered! Then walking the dogs in the snow.
I am officially working (boarding school) but both of my charges have cleared off to their bedrooms so I'm having an unexpected break with my knitting, on the sofa. Nice!
