I know we don't have many choices but I'm trying to get the new year off to a dynamic start hmm

I've been a bit lazy of late, to put it mildly, so trying to remedy that and not have too many Groundhog Days.

I'm having a second coffee whilst I plan my day!

Sunny and bright but icy underfoot. May go for a walk. Just learned on previous posts here about the FB Sketching group so might try that.

Apart from cooking another Christmas dinner for mysef----nothing grin

Chookmama Fri 01-Jan-21 12:39:38

Relaxing, watching the New Year Concert from Vienna. A bit strange without a live audience, but enjoyable nonetheless.

Ailidh Fri 01-Jan-21 12:41:42

Have taken the tree, decorations and cards down. There is no religious obligation that says you Have to keep them up until Epiphany, and mine go up on Advent Sunday so they've been up a while. Every item has a memory, so it's been slightly intense packing them away until November 28th.

Tomorrow the Christmas crockery etc will go away.
Sunday all the cards.

Apart from that I've been crocheting things for a local woolshop display. I'm a pretty obsessive crocheter, it doesn't stop for much. Oh, and watching the Mary Higgins Clark films on TV. Not come across them before and they're a mild entertainment. ?

Ringing up friends and family and cooking a roast lamb meal for early Tea. Sticky toffee pud for afters.
An early night with a new book.
All this doing nothing-very-much is tiring ?

Very late start after staying up for the bells last nite. But quick wash/dress and cats and birds fed. Then my few decorations taken down. Will put them away later as heading to garden to get some fresh air and always find wee tidying jobs there. Have some patchwork prepared for sewing so might get to that later too. DH doing a steak dinner tonite. He’s been looking forward to it for ages.

Not a lot.

Talking with and (within bubble arrangements) seeing my amazing children and grandchildren who are the light of my life. Tonight I will watch the latest Spiderman film with them. Woohoo!!

Hil1910 Fri 01-Jan-21 13:16:07

Just changed out of my PJs into my new M&S leisurewear after watching the NY day concert from Vienna. Not many other plans for the rest of the day, we’ll be finishing off the Shepherds Pie my husband made yesterday and tucking into cheesecake from Lidl. Best one we’ve had from them this year!
Wishing you all a very Happy New Year.

Polly4t42 Fri 01-Jan-21 13:18:38

I’ve made banana muffins with chocolate chips and walnuts and will be dropping some off to my son and family later today. Also made egg mayo sandwiches for lunch and no waiting for my husband to make coffee so we can have a muffin. Later I will sit and read a Christmas gift craft book, hoping to get some inspiration. Finding this cold weather really makes my arthritis painful especially my ankle

Heyduggie Fri 01-Jan-21 13:20:39

I've actually done a bit of gardening and made some soup this morning, weather is quite mild today. The new puppy gets me up and at it now so no excuse for slacking.

Hill910, so it was you who bought that last pair of soft joggers !

gulligranny Fri 01-Jan-21 13:25:51

Enjoyed Bucks Fizz and nibbles earlier, watching a blackbird having a bath on the edge of our fishpond. Thinking about a bite of lunch, then making Prue Leith's cottage pie (it's got black pudding in it) to the accompaniment of football commentary on the radio. Tonight we will eat said cottage pie whilst listening to The Archers and may well take part in Kenton & Jolene's quiz which celebrates 70 years of "An everyday story of country folk"!

I peppered the steak and prepared the veg for tonight's meal. Made a pan of Scouse for tomorrow it always tastes better the next day. Made a quick pastry for top of my scouse nice buttery one.
Our friend knocked and stood at a distance to wish us a better 2021. Then I had tea and a crumpet now on Gransnet to catch up. Haven't noticed farview on lately hope everything is ok . Have a nice day everyone and take care.

Watching charade and loving Audrey Hepburn clothes.

Daffydilly Fri 01-Jan-21 13:54:04

I'm in hospital. I had an op on 14th for bowel cancer and went home on 20th, then had complications and was back in via ambulance early hours of boxing day. I'm dodging further surgery so far and I'm still breathing so I'm being gentle with myself and trying to find positives. I hope the new year is kinder to us all. X

grandtanteJE65 Fri 01-Jan-21 13:56:40

We listened to the New Year concert from Vienna, then I tried to phone a friend to wish her Happy New Year, but she wasn't in,

When I have finished this and sent an e-mail to another friend, I shall hang up the new calender in the kitchen.

I nipped out to close and lock the post-box which I had left open yesterday, so as not to tempt anyone to stick fireworks in it, collected some sticks from rockets, then went back in for a newspaper and a plastic bag, as there was a dead blackbird, slap bang in the middle of the grass verge along our fence. Buried it in the dustbin and ran back indoors, cold through, foggy and damp here.

Shall do nothing with great glee for the rest of the day until dinner time.

I've taken all the decorations down and put the tree in the understairs cupboard, I've always done this on NYD because it was my late husband's birthday on 2nd Jan and he felt it was overshadowed by Christmas. I start off the New Year with a blank slate, as it were.
I've done a small amount of ironing and vacuumed the stairs and hall which were long overdue. That's quite enough for today. Now I'm going to park my backside on the settee with my knitting and binge-watch Pride and Prejudice on the Drama channel.

BBbevan Fri 01-Jan-21 14:22:58

Lovely long walk this morning. It was very cold and frosty but beautiful. Lots of people out walking , all said Happy New Year. Then home to a lovely warm fire and brunch.

Puzzler61 Fri 01-Jan-21 14:25:39

Daffydilly wishing you a speedy recovery to get back home, and a Healthier, Happy New Year as I think we are all glad to see the back of 2020. Take care. ?

Thisismyname1953 Fri 01-Jan-21 14:41:02

I’ve driven my grandchildren home to Wales . It’s a four hour , 200 miles return trip. I got home half an hour ago and have had a cup of tea and a sandwich. I’m now going to lay on my bed and read my book for an hour . All that time in the car doesn’t do my joints any good

Greenfinch Fri 01-Jan-21 14:43:56

Sorry to know you have had such a bad time lately Daffydilly. Relax while you in hospital and look after yourself when you get home.

handbaghoarder Fri 01-Jan-21 14:46:44

Ive just got up. No alcohol involved but a night plagued by Restless Legs and insomnia. Really must get it sorted this year. Happy New Year to all

M0nica Fri 01-Jan-21 14:58:25

Nothing much.
