I used the Aussie stuff but it made my hair fuzzy and aboriginal !
Went back to good old Head and Shoulders , using oil after washing and a tiny bit smoothed through after it was dry .

I use Olaplex shampoo, conditioner and treatment once a month. It’s not cheap but a little goes a long way. Google it and see what you think. I take medication for my thyroid so it may be worth checking with your GP.

Treat it inside and out, take a hair supplement, eat Brazil nuts ,salmon, avocado and olive oil, and use Philip Kingsley elastizer . This will work _ Dear reader I tried it!!!

Philip Kingsley elasticiser. I have grey, curly dryish hair. Use this twice month and it works wonders..not cheap I know. I also use a tiny amount of serum on the ends before it gets dried.

Hopefully not offending but your hair looks heavily bleached/highlighted. The winter weather conditions eg being indoors/central heating even heat from hobs/ovens all contribute to dtying out hair. Like other recommendations try Aussie shampoo and conditioner. They also do a 3 minute miracle one that gives good results. There is a tangle teaser type brush good for using in fragile hair. It's not the hard type bristle kind, it has soft flexible bristles and us a bit more expensive about £20 but is less harsh on hair. May be worth a go.

Argon oil is excellent - however, use it sparingly otherwise you’ll end up with really oily hair.

You need a gentle moisturising shampoo and a good conditioner. I use BEDHEAD TIGI Urban Antidotes Resurrection Damage Level 3 (in a large bright red bottle) They both come in 750ml containers so very economical and around £10 each or you can buy a twin pack which is cheaper. My hair is normally strawlike and very dry with no shine and after trying many other products these are the best for me. I use a Schwarzkopf BC Q10 Time Restore Treatment (Around £15 for a tub) sometimes when I need an extra boost which is also good. I avoid hairspray or mousse as it dries out my hair. A good texturiser and smoothing creme is great, I use John Frieda Frizz Ease Secret Agent Touch-up creme after blowdrying, smooth it into the mid lengths and ends. I avoid using anything oily because it makes my hair limp. You can get all these products online. Obviously you will get a good trim when you can.

Hi , I'm a doctor and I suggest you ask your GP to test you for an underactive thyroid and low iron levels/ anaemia. Both can cause hair loss and dry, brittle hair .

I like John Freida products for my hair, they make such a difference, I never brush it until it's dry, I use a wide tooth comb called a rake when I comb the conditioner through and again after rinsing. Hope everything goes well with your tests

Mine’s improved since I bought a silk pillowcase. Not the one that kept popping up as I would need to take out a mortgage for that. Got mine from Amazon at a fraction of the cost. Supposed to be good for the skin as well, but I haven’t noticed any difference.

Clarifying shampoo to remove any products you might have used, a deep conditioner and then change your shampoo and conditioner for one for dry hair, and either air dry or us dryer on its lowest setting even if it takes a bit longer.
Even if you only use it every other wash , it should help. I have the same thing happened to me and this is what helped my hair.
Oh, and you might like to try wetting your hair, put conditioner on mid to ends then shampoo the roots only- the shampoo will rinse out the conditioner.

Fine straight hair has been the bane of my life too; I do sympathise Urmstongran. Some time ago it got into quite a state, and my new hairdresser recommended Moroccan Oil. It is absolutely wonderful - just one small spot rubbed into the palms and smoothed over hair after washing transforms my unruly mop, and it is a good conditioner for the scalp too. It is never greasy. She said to only ever buy the original and best version; it's about thirty five pounds and comes in a brown glass bottle with a turquoise label. Mine has lasted for almost two years, as so little is needed, so it is probably more economical than a supermarket conditioner. Good luck - I'm sure any of the above suggestions will help.

Are you by any chance washing your hair in the bath ? A friend used to and the bath salts wrecked her hair.
I can also recommend Aussie conditioner, and after rinsing put a drop of it in your hand rub your hands together and wipe gently through your hair. Don't rub hard with a towel be gentle. No heat from hairdryer etc

I read an interview with Helena Rubenstein years ago, in which she said that if you have a hair problem, any problem at all, do nothing. Nothing at all, not even wash it, just brush it. Since I let the color grow out of mine the condition has improved 2000%. My impossibly dry and frizzy hair is now a curly multi shade silver grey mop. So much easier to manage- quite liberating. Food for thought.

I can recommend "Hair n' Mane" conditioner and detangler. They have several choice options. You get them on Amazon, but also Boots, Superdrug etc.

A little pricey but Olaplex 3 will fix it. You may have to order it from a beauty site or Amazon but it has amazing repair qualities! You wash your hair and then leave it on for ten minutes or more and then wash it off. It really does make a huge difference.

Check the hair from your brush - if they have blobs on one end, from the root, then it is natural hair loss, if not they have broken off and it is from its condition. I would get some Sea Kelp tablets from Holland and Barrett (for hair and nails- buy online), do a coconut warm oil massage and wrap, then use lashings of a good quality conditioner after washing it off. Don't wash it too often, but get some 'leave-in' conditioner for the other days.

All good suggestions on using masks, and getting thyroid checked. Also Biotin is good supplement for hair, and a good quality multi vit for general health if you are a bit run down. It will take a couple of months for supplements to work on new hair growth from follicles. Supplements have no effect on condition of previous growth . You could also consider a shorter style, post lockdown, with a good hairdresser.

I know some medications can affect hair. Could that be a possibility?
I totally agree trying Argan oil. I use it for eczema too.
I have started using shampoo bars that don't contain parabens. So much is left in the hair using bottled shampoo.
My hair has never been in such good condition! (Also no plastic waste)

I agree with all the great recommendations. Also my DD has asked for a silk pillowcase for her birthday as there is a lot of evidence that you can damage the back of your hair overnight. I often wake up with a woolly ball at the back of my head!
