You need to be sure, when you buy this item, that it will be Netflix-enabled so that she can watch The Crown.

annodomini unfortunately she has no internet, so Netflix isn’t possible, we will buy her dvds of the shows/films she enjoys and needs a portable DVD player she could watch and use easily.

Be careful, the link is for a car DVD player, probably runs off the car battery, plugged into the cigarette lighter socket. Check it runs off mains electricity.

Ohhh 'The Crown' ????
I was thinking of 'Gran' which is kind of like 'Postman Pat' in how they animated it and I used to watch it with my children. It was very good!

My mother is over 100 and her tv switches to dvd automatically when a DVD is loaded. I just wish she would get the hang of pausing the DVD when she goes to the loo!

Bought my 82 year old neighbour a portable DVD player for Christmas last year.

She lies in bed watching her beloved Andre Rieu dvds and falls asleep to them. She never used to sleep much before.

She’s housebound and had terrible mobility issues, so getting up and down to change a dvd connected to her TV is out of the question for her. It’s not too fiddly either. DVD in, press the play button and done.

She loves it and it was the best present we could have got her.

Argos website pretty easy to use so good luck ordering the DVD player. I often order things on-line, then go into the store to collect them, which works for me!

it definitely exists, I bought one for my dad when he was in hospital in a side room, (terminal cancer), he was so bored, it allowed him to watch westerns and james bond and he passed away a happier man thanks to that DVD player I am sure. One of the last things I remember him laughing about was the Michael Caine quote from the Italian job ""You were only supposed to blow the bl***y doors off." That Argos portable DVD player was the best thing ever. Happy memories dear Dad

I have one of the advertised bush ones (see the long link from GrannyWannyFanny above), my granddaughter uses it when she stays over, very easy to use and pretty sturdy. I can recommend it.

You can get The Crown on DVD from Amazon - and can probably find the DVD player on there too!

My son’s dvdplayer was from Curry’s. He has learning difficulties but he manages to play all his dvd’s on it.
