Well, let me think, I've had 30-odd jobs, full time, part time, temporary and permanent. School was the first one, and I rebelled to wear trousers like the boys and got suspended. Then as a riding instructress it was a 'practical' uniform with riding cap, boots, jods, gloves and riding jacket when teaching and wax jacket and waterproofs when working with the horses. Next was a delivery driver's uniform (for a household catalogue) which was the same as the men had to wear and was quite practical if horrible brown colour (was the only woman among 26 men drivers in the depot and ended up meeting DH there). I worked in building societies and banks that had uniforms after that. I quite enjoyed them all, apart from the discomfort of wearing 'heels' which were required for all the banking and secretarial jobs I did.
