Does anyone have experience of a c section.?
My daughter is due to have one tomorrow. She seems OK, but I feel anxious for her.
She had bad tear previously so has been advised to have c section.

Try not to worry. I had two the first an emergency or both baby and I would have died. I had to have a blood transfusion and was kept in hospital 10 days.
After being told I would not need another I went ahead and had one shortly afterwards. At five months I was offered an epidural section I turned it down as I did not want to feel different about them and had a General.
The second went very smoothly first on the list and regained consciousness very quickly, the staff tried to serve me coffee and cake until I told them I had just come up from theatre and maybe not.
I managed to feed both myself with the help of lots of cushions.
My main problem was standing up. When I had mine we were kept in hospital for over a week.
DD had an emergency epidural section and was home within a few days not very mobile but soon got so.
best of luck to all the family.

I had a C-section and recovered very quickly. I had a belly binder which seemed to speed healing up and I was out and about with baby in a sling within the week.

I had an emergency C-section with my first and a high forceps delivery with my second. I recovered much quicker from the C-section.

Having had experience in the family now both of vaginal births that went badly wrong, and of elective C sections, I’d be more worried tbh if I had a daughter due to give birth “naturally”.

Congratulations on the new baby, Nana56. Try not to worry, sleep well!

DD had one with her twins and DiL has had 4 . They both recovered quickly but had plenty of help and no necessity to drive. DiL breastfed all of hers into their second year. An added bonus was that she was able to choose which date each child could be born on (within reason) and so avoided weekends when staffing numbers are often lower.

As my first baby was breech, I had an elective c section.
At 57 I had a total hysterectomy and was amazed by how everything is much better now - self-administered morphine, encouragement to be out of bed and on the move, speedy discharge as other have said.
For a couple of days changing position from being upright to lying down will be easier with another’s steadying hand but she’ll very quickly be on the mend. She shouldn’t lift anything heavy for a while.
Your daughter will be fine. Please don’t worry.

I had the privilege to be with my daughter as she had a caesarean for the birth of her twins. I was the first to hold my grandson while his sister was born. It was amazing. She had no problems during or after and made a good recovery.

DD1 had a c-section as the baby was found to be breech at the last minute. All went well and she went on to have two more babies naturally.

DD2 had a c-section as she had pre-eclampsia, both mother and baby were fine. She too has had another naturally.

A c-section takes a bit longer to recover from but it is being done for the right reasons.

I'm sure all will be well with your daughter tomorrow. Lots of love to her, you and the beautiful new baby xxx
