Have you got Just3words on your phone or a green bottle in the fridge?

If you have then have you ever needed them?
I went along to an evening to brush up on my CPR Defibrillator skill last night. The Air Ambulance volunteer mentioned both of the above.
I’m definitely going to list details of my blood group and medical history and pop it in the fridge but not so sure about the app. Part of me thinks why not ? Part of me is reluctant to put anything else on my phone that knows where I am.

I have 3words on phone. Never heard of the green bottle scheme and for many it would be useful once the emergency services have bashed down your locked door to get into your fridge!

When my DD broke her ankle on top of a mountain her friends phoned the police to arrange mountain rescue. They were asked for what3words for their location as she needed to be airlifted to hospital. They were expecting to need to provide a map reference but fortunately DD had the app though her friends didn't.
She now tries to promote the app to other walkers. She is a trustee of the Ramblers and trains walk leaders as well as leading walks herself. She was surprised that many of her latest trainees didn't know to ring for police not an ambulance if you need mountain rescue. I had to admit I didn't know that either! We learn something new every day! We certainly need to know these sorts of things as we never know when we might need them.

My dad was told to leave his yellow DNR form on the hall table so paramedics could see/find it. We have a plastic pocket in our fridge with personal details and essential info for our children in case 'something happens' when we go away together on holidays so they know vital financial details etc. I think the fridge is nominated as the place to leave vital info as just about everyone has a fridge which anyone could find in an emergency, rather than a drawer or cupboard!

Sorry to sound negative Grannyjacq1but I’d be concerned about leaving vital financial details easily accessible on the fridge door. I’d worry a burglar might find them when I was away on holiday.

I had defibrillator training recently and What3words was mentioned but not a word about green bottles!

We have all our financial details in a home safe and our executors (our children) have the password.

We have had the Lions tub in our fridge door (recommended place then the medics don’t have to scramble between your lettuces and tomatoes to find it) for years. Each time our prescriptions are changed I just put a copy in the tub (green bottle).
Pester your doctor’s receptionist for them. I can’t understand anyone not wanting to do this as there are no negative reasons all positive.
I have ‘what 3 words’ on my phone and also ICE contact names and important medical information

The green bottle thing is not new. I was given a similar thing 20 years ago by my friend ….still in my fridge ( different fridge) with details of illnesses / medications and kids phone numbers. Not new!

… oh and also have what 3 words and ICE

Love the way that people have this information in their fridge's.
I live by myself - have an upright fridge/freezer, except for the da that shopping is due I rarely have enough space in there for foodstuffs, etc. alone anything else.
I am not joking about this. For many years I had a lovely large larder fridge and that just about coped with my requirements. When my kitchen was re-done last year had to give this up for a large upright F/Fs.

When I do my weekly shop I would say that as much as 90% of it is uin the eent of an emergency npacked into that fridge. Not sure how people have spare room in theirs.

My typed sheet in an envelope pinned to notice board in hallway gives full information on exactly where all current medications are kept, as well other items I would need in the event of an emergency hospital admittance. Okay, this might not survive a fire - but the chances of that in my flat are pretty remote - never been one of any sort in this block of flats since they were bult forty years ago, and the last one in my own home was back in 1975. No bare flames anywhere these days.

On the back of this I intend to start a new thread about what people keep/never keep in their fridges, to see what I am doing wrong.

They are not huge.

I've heard about ICE numbers but I've never been able to find out how to do them.

JackyB here are instructions for Android and IPhone showing how to add ICE contacts
