Do you dress your husband?

I like a mismatched gent myself.

My husband knew what he liked so I never did.

Sometimes I do, often I don’t. He always looks okish normally and smart for formal events

He wouldn't have a clue!


He usually gets to the front door then I say "oh dear, that shirt doesn't match that jumper and neither match your trousers."

He can look very smart sometimes 🙂

No I never did but then he was well able to dress himself and always looked right for the occasion.

Give advice but he’s pretty clued up in his dress sense. Usually scrubs well!

on reading this title, i imagined a wardrobe with various dressing-up costumes, eg
astronaut, firefighter, sailor, pirate, soldier.
a man in a group i went to complained that his wife only ever touched the cat, not him.
i suggested theatrical costumiers could hire him a cat costume and he could lie on the hearth rug.
she might not notice and start stroking him.
he never mentioned the issue after that.

Mr J is dapper and classy enough to do it on his own. He has always had a great sense of style since the day I first met him.

Mine would look as if he had dressed in the dark if I didn’t vet his choices.

I often make suggestions, but he does tend to live in a world of blue or grey, which is often limiting. Both are colours that I often wear (though my wardrobe is not confined to them) and I do dread starting to look like that couple from Ever Decreasing circles years ago - Actually he does extremely well left to his own devices.

OH isn’t interested in clothes or how he looks. He will dress up if he has to, say for a wedding or funeral, but otherwise he puts any old thing on. I’ve given up making suggestions now. I think I dress quite well and have some nice clothes. He never notices what I wear though!

He typically dresses himself. White shirts go with everything.

If he asks, or appears not quite smart enough, I make suggestions, of other white shirts. Really? He has few choices.

Except golf attire - I don't attempt to work out that conundrum. Shorts and a golf shirt for him, golf skirt and shirt for me. Have a go, I don't care, it all looks colourfully daft, in my opinion.

He used to choose individual items he liked and I helped him put them together colourwise at his request. It obviously worked very well as many people commented on how dapper he was. My part was never mentioned but I quietly enjoyed the admiration.

As would mine ! He is colour blind so fine when choosing on the blue spectrum but outside that I have to intervene. I know, very mumsy you all exclaim. Fair enough but last time he was let loose arrived home with pale pink chinos and an emerald sweater. He thought the chinos were ecru (not a word he would use) and the sweater dark cream as he put it.
I rest my case.

He usually asks me what looks right and he is not too good on colours so happy to help.
The worst thing he does with clothes is that he tends to wear the same thing all the time . I sometimes move every around in his wardrobe and drawers so if he just grabs the first thing at least it is something different.😁

In part as I buy a lot of his clothes. Or he has shirts and jumpers bought as gifts by family. He rarely has interest in replacing anything.

I wouldn’t tell another adult what to wear nor appreciate it if someone told me.

No I didn't. He knew what he liked and was always tidy. Things I bought for presents got worn so I must have got that right.

My DH generally sorts himself out, but he will ask me if a certain shirt matches with the trousers he has put on, or ask me what I think looks best, whether that be the colour of the shoes he wants to wear, the jacket he’s thinking of putting on, which tie looks best and so on. Likewise, I’ll sometimes ask his opinion for something I’m going to wear.
