That’s money well spent, my mum used to say.

In terms of improving your happiness/ enjoyment/ mental well-being/ quality of life what have you spent money on to best effect?

Holidays, mostly, but sometimes just a small amount of money spent can make a difference.
Last year I bought a lovely coat in the sales for £40.
Or my airfryer, which cost about £45.

A Thermomix, worth every penny.

Definitely, I was persuaded by Alain Roux to buy mine, never regretted it 👍🏻

My conservatory which I have had for over 25 years.
I live in it in the summer, it means with my rather full house there is always a space to go in and for the last few weeks it is so warm in the morning being east facing that I haven’t needed heat on until late afternoon.

My cat is on offer for adoption, she has found a never ending source of mice.
We have had one a day, some dead some still alive for about 10 days now.
She has to go.😉

The donation I gave to the dog rescue charity for our rescue girl. She gets me get up in the morning, makes me laugh, makes me take exercise and when she is with me people tend to talk to me which is an added bonus.

I am with you there we spent the whole day to-day in our unheated conservatory as it was a sunny day . It lifts your spirits so much just to be in all the light. They are supposed to be going out of fashion but I would hate to be without one.

For improving the quality of my everyday life, the award goes to the coffee machine. I love it. ☕️

Hopefully that is intended to be a joke.

My airfryer

The cats I have had. All totally spoiled and worth every last penny.

I think the winking emoji at the end of the cat post tells us the writer's intention.

Really hope so

My glasses, I’m very short sighted, varifocal, thinned lenses, photochromic and very light, less than £250, brilliant how technology moves on.

I love my cat to bits, she is my best ever Christmas present.
I just wish she would listen when I tell her NO MORE MICE THANK YOU

Beautiful (to me) tiles, super duper kettle, really lovely old mirror, my amelanchier this time of year... some lovely (bargain) curtains...
I actually buy relatively little - but the things I do buy tend to be really considered.
I tend to keep them till they are actually worn out.

Lots of "stuff" that was "money well spent" still makes me happy years later.

Last year we went with almost all the family on a week long beach holiday.
That was certainly "money well spent".

A German sports car! I was younger then, although I still have a (much more boring) convertible.
Maybe I’m shallow, but it did give my confidence a much needed boost.

I suppose holidays are my big spend now. DH hated holidays, so, whilst I'm able, I’m trying to make up for lost time.

My late husband did a lot of things, many of which I removed as soon as I could after he died ( The massive metal shed that looked hideous and ran with condensation springs to mind) One thing that I couldn't fault was replacing our sliding patio doors with French windows. I love having them wide open in the summer. It really feels like bringing the garden indoors.

My robot mower at this time of year.
Also the new bannisters they have really brightened up the hallway.

Grannybags Tue 14-Apr-26 22:27:40

Getting my crooked front teeth sorted. I can smile with confidence now 😁

I'd adopt her but DH would leave home.

Actually, send me a photo of her and I'll compare the two 😂

🤔 A few medical procedures that both I and DP had to go down the private route for.
My puffa jacket over Winter.
Music lessons for my girls when they were young, the enjoyment factor alone for them was worth it.
Our log burner.
My suede heeled boots.

Wyllow3 Tue 14-Apr-26 22:51:13

Being able to afford to keeping my car going.
Being able to pay for a cleaner and a gardener and my gym membership. enough heating

Not much left for holidays, but then I'm quite a home bird.
