... getting ready & thinking through my 3 min slot in 2 hours time telling Local Authority Chief Exec & 'partners' (I hate that word) that the Volunteers they could be using may look like old grannies but are so much more than the official 3 day course training them for this particular volunteer role (as Restorative justice facilitators).

What are you avoiding by going on Gransnet?

Well done Sel - that's raised the tone. Very helpful.

Flipping heck

Aka Thu 16-May-13 08:26:07

I wonder if we'll ever hear from gigi again? She says she didn't come to GN for a slanging match, but that's exactly what she got, and she felt she had caused it.
But she didn't did she?
And her parting remark was that she'd leave you all to it. You can hardly blame her if she's bee driven away.
I think certain people (note the plural) ought to ask themselves what that was all about sad

annsixty Thu 16-May-13 08:28:00

Calm down ladies, it's only a chat line.

Aka Thu 16-May-13 08:30:41

Please don't be so patronising Annsixty there is a serious issue here.

annsixty Thu 16-May-13 08:39:28

Well, that's me on the naughty step!!

bluebell Thu 16-May-13 08:47:36

It isn't only a chat line - some threads are lighthearted and fun ( or should be), others debate important political and social issues and others, a real, real strength, offer support to people who are going through some of the most heart breaking experiences that can be imagined. There's no point in revisiting yesterday's debacle and certainly not to be flippant about it - flippancy and inappropriate lightheartedness have led to two real upsets this week.

Aka Thu 16-May-13 08:52:29

And quite right Annsixty !!! Do you realise you have to stay there fir a minute of every year you have lived? wink so is that 60 minutes for you?

Flowerofthewest Thu 16-May-13 08:54:13

Gigi, come back we are mostly kind and helpful with a strange sense of humour, most of us don't want to upset people. flowers

Aka Thu 16-May-13 08:54:18

I think there is a reason to learn from yesterday's pettiness debacle.

Flowerofthewest Thu 16-May-13 08:56:27

How many minutes on the naughty step annsixty, I guess it's one minute for every year of your life. An hour it is then (going by your user name) grin

Flowerofthewest Thu 16-May-13 08:57:49

Ah that will teach me Aka not to overlook others comments, never mind as they say great gransnet minds think alike grin

Flowerofthewest Thu 16-May-13 08:58:34

Oops, cat just fell off the windowsill confused

Sel Thu 16-May-13 09:06:51

Oooh Flower that made me laugh, then look for a hidden meaning, then conclude that your cat did just fall off the windowsill. Deep grin

Aka Thu 16-May-13 09:17:05

Is it ok flower? Hope you don't live on the 6th floor?

annsixty Thu 16-May-13 09:20:58

Acually the sixty came from another source and I must spend nearly 76 minutes on that step but reading comments I won't be on my own, it must get rather crowded at times.

Flowerofthewest Thu 16-May-13 09:27:17

No, Aka, luckily she slipped onto the carpet indoors grin She relaxes so efficiently that she just slides off anything she is sleeping on. She will never learn smile

Aka Thu 16-May-13 09:30:51

I thought she'd fallen OUT of the window!

Aka Thu 16-May-13 09:33:39

Back to the OP, this is too addictive. So off to do something more productive, point the brickwork, clean the outside windows, brush the moss off the roof, write to the PM, think big. Bye.

Movedalot Thu 16-May-13 09:54:19

I don't know what all the fuss is about! Those of you who have been around for any length of time will know that j08 has a tendency to be flippant and sometimes insensitive but no more than that surely? When I read her comment I thought it might have been directed at me and just saw it as flippant and nothing more. I certainly wasn't upset in any way about it. On the other hand HQ will have read bluebell's posts and decided they are not suitable for the thread and therefore deleted them.

I do hope this is no more than a storm in a teacup and not a way of attacking a poster who some do not agree with. I have been in that position, attacked by people for no reason and they dress it up as if it was just a difference of opinion.

Much worse imo is when posters deliberately misinterpret what one has written in order to make it appear that a poster has said something entirely different to what they intended. sad

And on a lighter note - what's all this about chat lines? I thought this was a forum? Chat lines have a totally different conotation grin

annsixty Thu 16-May-13 09:57:40

Yes sorry about that. I stand corrected.

Aka Thu 16-May-13 10:05:02

Are you still on the naughty step?

j08 Thu 16-May-13 10:09:23

I would have thought ginnananna (sp) could have weathered that remark.

It is a fact that some posters ars very transparent.

Ella46 Thu 16-May-13 10:10:40

I think it sounds like the naughty step is the fun place to be........wink

Movedalot Thu 16-May-13 10:11:20

I agree with you on this occassion j08 but they think they are very clever and don't seem to realise that we all see through them.
