It would not be my style to mock anyone's posting style, but - someone did say they wanted more frivolous threads and this is pretty frivolous! How about widening the net and doing pastiches of more posters? Preferably ones who can recognise themselves and laugh about it, and ones not aimed to wound anyone. It takes a bit of skill, unlike the sandbagging that has sopmetimes gone on here. Anyone up to some "creative writing"?

I think all the criticism of this thread is unjustified. It was poking gentle fun at Frank's style of writing, and no posts were in my view cruel or unkind. Frank would probably be amused by it, as he did have a sense of humour!

I give out what is deserved. And sometimes I give honest advice which might be more useful than the sucking up and self pitying stuff that usually goes for advice on here.

You know who always came across as harmless on the threads. He doesn't't deserve this.

I'm afraid it is received as quite callous sometimes, Jingle but it is the stirring up of arguments that is most concerning, as you light the touch paper and disappear whilst everyone scraps. As has been said before, you must be laughing at what you have started. That's cruel.

Galen started this thread with a post meant to imitate you know who's. In a mocking way. Others followed like sheep.

Elegran there is frivolous and then there is pathetic.

I also have a grandson just come into the room. I need to get him off his screen! I've said it all anyway.

J0 - now that really is unkind to dismiss the amazing range of thoughtful and kind advice that is given on so many threads here. The responses of OPs demonstrates so often how useful it has been or how it has brought comfort at a really difficult time. Give me the above spoofs any day over unkind and thoughtless ripostes

I think you use the word pathetic too often, jings. It seems to be your fall-back weapon for pronouncing judgment on other people's posts and sentiments. If it's okay for you to do that, then it's okay for others to express their feelings about posts in the way they choose too. No-one is being attacked in galen's imitation – only someone's style of expression on GN.

I thought you had to log on to read the threads? Please someone tell me if I am right. If so then anyone banned would not be able to read this thread.

So, the logical conclusion is, if you don't want what you say or how you say it to be criticised or made fun of, don't put it on a public forum.

I don't think Galen's post was meant to be cruel. If he who cannot be named does read this thread I am sure he would take it in good humour (as I believe it was intended).

Anyone in the whole wide world can read everything written on these threads, Movedalot. it is not restricted to members. you have to be a member to post but not to read.

That is why we should not post anything we would not want the whole wide world to read, and why GN comes down like a ton of bricks on anyone revealing what is in a private email.
