Hi all

The original thread has become too long and unwieldy so we're trying to streamline all the information to make it easier for everyone to keep up with what's going on.

There are two other threads for support and suggestions.

Please can you leave this thread free for those who have firm updates and links? Thanks so much. flowers

I am finding that I am thinking of little else but Carol - I wish there was something I could do or say to actually help the situation. Hopefully tomorrow may bring some good news.

Galen Mon 04-Nov-13 20:20:30

Thinking of you. Greatnan is one hell of a woman!

Heather1234 Mon 04-Nov-13 20:11:21

Thank you, you have all been so helpful throughout this nightmare! We really appreciate all the work everyone has done!

Heather We are all thinking of you and your family and praying that tomorrow brings good news of your Nan.

Heather1234 Mon 04-Nov-13 19:30:32

Just to clarify for everyone, the family do not have any problem with you sharing any photos/posters in which the family have posted to the page! If we originally put the posters out there then of course we did that with the intention of you sharing them.
Now that we have found Carol's car that intent has been fulfilled.

However, Photo's taken by non-family members of an abandoned car are not helpful, they provide no information. Especially photo's taken looking through the window of what people are assuming may be my Grandmother's car, with captions such as ''interior of the car'' are distressing and are of no use to us or the authorities.

But please continue to share posters from the 'Missing' page, especially the ones now with my grandmother's face on so people know who they are looking for.

Thank you again for all your help. Stay hopeful.

Heather.

Missed them when. Mark messaged me to delete all and thought he meant ALL so I did and asked friends to do the same. The are all back now.

whenim64 Mon 04-Nov-13 18:31:34

Smashing Flower they never objected to the search posters but were distressed to see the abandoned car. You can imagine the unwanted images it conjures up for them. The search goes on.

Flowerofthewest Mon 04-Nov-13 18:24:14

On instruction from Mark have now re-posted posters re Carol. He only meant the inappropriate photos of the car etc. So it is all back on FB.

From Le Dauphine :
Elles doivent reprendre mardi matin.

15 mountain rescue gendarmes, 20 pompiers and several other mountain rescuers have been searching all day but have had to stop at 16h30 due to night falling. They will start again tomorrow morning.

As this thread is for updates only, I will wait to hear from Carol's family.

Mamie Mon 04-Nov-13 16:52:10

The Dauphiné paper is reporting that the search has stopped for the night and will resume tomorrow morning.

MargaretX Mon 04-Nov-13 16:49:52

I'm reading the French press reports. Carol lived by Facebook etc and this is now the result. This doesn't mean that other non FB people can't or shouldn't read newsapapers and if they wish to, to comment upon them on GN.

Agus Mon 04-Nov-13 16:21:06

DONE

Marelli Mon 04-Nov-13 15:58:57

Have taken everything regarding the search off my Facebook page now.

Ariadne Mon 04-Nov-13 15:27:53

We must go with the family's wishes, and at their pace now.

Flowerofthewest Mon 04-Nov-13 15:27:18

DONE

Flowerofthewest Mon 04-Nov-13 15:23:44

Have spoken to mark and have now deleted all from my timeline FB and hidden on my home page FB now will request that friends on FB do the same.

whenim64 Mon 04-Nov-13 15:10:29

Thank you. It's the 'car found' pictures of Carol's actual abandoned car that are causing distress, not the 'missing' photos, which are of a similar car.

grabagran Mon 04-Nov-13 15:09:57

Is it not a rather pointless exercise as the photos of the car are on the newspaper website for anyone to see, to tweet to email or otherwise disseminate.

It also does appear to be the correct car, not a falsification, the car is French ,is French registered and the department number shown is the correct department number.

Flowerofthewest Mon 04-Nov-13 15:06:18

Will delete pictures of cars xx

CariGransnet (GNHQ) Mon 04-Nov-13 15:03:49

We have taken the posters of the car off the Gransnet Facebook page. I will look through the tweets now

Hannoona Mon 04-Nov-13 14:59:52

How awful, but you'd think they'd have known better than to trust them.

Anyway, this isn't helping anything

Goodnight and look after yourself. Xx

whenim64 Mon 04-Nov-13 14:53:37

It's the journalist who ignored police requests not to publicise.

Hannoona Mon 04-Nov-13 14:50:37

It's sad the information was leaked and people are now having to be so wary becaus, it really is highly likely the searchers/police themselves were responsible for it.
