Hi all

The original thread has become too long and unwieldy so we're trying to streamline all the information to make it easier for everyone to keep up with what's going on.

There are two other threads for support and suggestions.

Please can you leave this thread free for those who have firm updates and links? Thanks so much. flowers

Elegran Mon 04-Nov-13 14:31:25

I have deleted all that I can, but where I have retweeted someone else's tweet I seem to have no control. Sorry.

whenim64 Mon 04-Nov-13 14:21:54

Twitter also has images of the car which the family haven't wanted disseminating. Can you undo tweets and retweets where possible, please? Time to go at the family's pace now. We've done our bit with helping to locate her car.

CariGransnet (GNHQ) Mon 04-Nov-13 14:13:52

Heather we are all thinking of you and sending our love to you and your family. She is indeed an amazing woman xx

Heather1234 Mon 04-Nov-13 14:11:09

I Have deleted the photos of the car from the FB page, as i deem it inappropriate, and possibly misleading or inaccurate as the car's number plate was blotted out and the photo does not fit the description of where the car was found! I also do not wish to encourage people of whom thrive off other peoples grief by falsifying events, creating hoax's etc...

The page was set up with the intentions of finding My Nan and/or the Car. Which i can confirm the car has been found. However it was not the family that divulged this information to the press, therefore we are taking great care in what information we would like to share. If there is any relevant information i can assure you you will be informed by the family as it stands everything you have been told is up to date. There has no more updates as of yet.

Thank you to everyone who has help so far, so many of you have done so much! The family really really appreciate it! Lets try to keep positive for this amazing woman!

Thank you

Heather

Please, if you have posted pictures of the car on public Facebook pages, delete them and allow the family to do this in their own time. Thank you.

whenim64 Mon 04-Nov-13 13:50:56

Calm please about randomly posting on Facebook when we don't know how far along communcation between authorites and the family is progressing.

Gagagran Mon 04-Nov-13 13:28:53

There are mountain refuge huts scattered around those trails. Carol would know they were there and may have managed to make her way there.

granmouse Mon 04-Nov-13 13:25:41

I am grateful that there is a lead at last. There is still, I think some hope for her as she will have been well equipped. It has been a long time though.

Honeyball Mon 04-Nov-13 13:23:29

If the part that has been copied and pasted here's Carol's complete post it doesn't specifically say that she was looking forward to doing it again. What it does say is that she'd like to take people there which might have been interpreted as her looking forward to going again.
It doesn't quite fit as if she went back she clearly went alone but it is the only lead they've got at the moment.

That is the link, Bags! Was just about to post it! Let's hold our breath now, and wait.

Car found according to this: www.tdg.ch/geneve/faits-divers/voiture-britannique-disparue-retrouvee-mieussy/story/29933507

Grumps15 Mon 04-Nov-13 12:51:56

Just a point!
I've read Carol's entry on FFE. It's also been reported elsewhere that the post by Carol refers to her looking forward to going there again!

There is nothing to indicate any such desire in her posting as far as I can see. Can this in fact be confirmed?

CariGransnet (GNHQ) Mon 04-Nov-13 12:46:26

Forgive me for posting the same message on several threads.

Just a reminder really that all this ends up in the public view so do think before adding any speculations on here. The last thing any of us wants to do, albeit entirely unintentionally, is add to the distress of Carol's family as they wait for news.

Here it is , posted on 17th August 2013 by Carol:

"All paths in pine forests look the same, don't they? I have taken to making a triangle of sticks or stones at each junction, pointing back in the right direction. I have found French drivers to be very kind - I have had to flag them down on about four occasions, when I have entered a forest by one path, and come out in a completely different place. At least I now know enough to make a note of the exact location of my car!"

nightowl Mon 04-Nov-13 12:34:23

Sorry if this has been suggested but I can't check as I have my hands full with DGS. On the thread Carol started about walking tips she said that she always marks her route as she goes along with sticks formed into a triangle pointing in the direction she has come from, so she is able to find her way back if she gets lost. If the searchers find anything like this it may help to mark her route.

Flowerofthewest Mon 04-Nov-13 12:27:31

Hmmm agree Nelliemoser.

Nelliemoser Mon 04-Nov-13 12:22:24

grabagran that is helpful if not reasuring. Many thanks.

Flowerofthewest Mon 04-Nov-13 12:01:09

Friend on FB - a French singer living in UK has posted a copy of a Geneva Newspaper stating that the car has been found. I cannot translate but have shared it with Mark.

granjura Mon 04-Nov-13 11:13:34

Passed on the info to gendarmerie a minute ago. This is very helpful, thanks.

grabagran Mon 04-Nov-13 11:02:14

Perhaps a clue: Swissie could pass this in, it may be a starter for 10, assuming this is where her car was found.

From the French entree forum on 1st October.by Carol.

As for being a little old lady....... I would like to take some of you on the walk I did last week, starting from Jourdy, near Mieussy in Haute Savoie, up to Roche Palud, six hours with a 1700' climb, descending on a zig-zagging path about two feet wide, down a sheer cliff face with a huge unfenced drop on one side. Luckily, there was a steel rope bolted into the rock face to hold on to. I wasn't nervous, but the corners needed care as I had to change hands on the steel rope!

and on 8th October.

I am very fit, able to climb 1700' in a couple of hours

ZingWantsCake Mon 04-Nov-13 10:56:15

granjura

we are waiting with hope, and trying to be quiet for now

Psammy Mon 04-Nov-13 10:27:51

Ah, ok. Apologies.

Psammy Mon 04-Nov-13 10:27:30

So it is official?

granjura Mon 04-Nov-13 10:26:42

Please, can we just be quiet for a while, not speculate... can we just wait quietly, please.

granjura Mon 04-Nov-13 10:26:04

I found out earlier from the police, and they asked me to talk to NO ONE about this, and not say a word to the press. Last thing they need is beinghampered by journalists and tv crews, etc!!! How on earth did they get this. Worst is, journalists already bombarding family- absolute last thing they need.
