You know you're getting old when....

You are getting even older when you have no idea who Sam Smith is.

New Bond movie songster which probably makes him the most famous singer on the planet at this moment in time. I always get him mixed up with Ed Sheeran [who I also wouldn't recognise]. He was wearing glasses though. His twitter page shows him standing by Bamburgh beach. I only knew it was him because I got chatting to someone with a dog [as per usual] who whispered to me that the group of people next to us were Sam Smith, his pals and their dog.

I didn't know who he was but anyway.

At least I'm not as brassed of as the young girls working at The Copper Kettle tearooms next door who didn't even see him.

That song has really grown on me but I watched a whole concert and found it very same-y. I'd recognise Ed Sheeran

SIL was appearing in the same concert as him recently (that's the only reason I know, I had to ask DD - who?)
I still wouldn't recognise him and haven't heard the song yet.

I know they don't look or sound the same but they're both young male vocalists that have sprung to fame recently so I get them confused. Although, strangely enough I had been reading about him the day before as an article had compared him to the guy who used to sing with Rudimental [who I do like].

John Newman, that is.

I was going to answer with some tale of telling the same story to the same person more than once but I think, having read the posts, I shall just say I know I'm getting old now because I don't know who the heck any of these people are!!! Should I put that right or is it ok to continue in my ignorance?

Though I did hear the new Bond title song the other day and thought it the worst ever.

He's already done the latest Bond song, whtewave, so you're still a bit behind the times, if not old!

Oh I am beginning to age

I know who Sam Smith is and I know what he looks like without having to Google him. So there. Don't know what I'm doing on Gransnet, I'm much too young really.
