If you voted for Brexit - would you vote for it again, knowing what you know now? However you voted, do you think we should have another referendum - a peoples' vote?

dorabelle100 Thu 15-Nov-18 10:15:52

a million times yes and add another million times YES

Lynn1 Thu 15-Nov-18 10:19:03

I voted Leave and would do so again. I am with Jamilia all the way!

Several Remain voting friends would now vote Leave as the EU has shown its true colours during the negotiations.

It is NATO which has given us peace for the last 70 years and EU members should first of all pay their 3% before throwing money at an unnecessary army.

Power to your elbow Jamilia!

Nanny41 Thu 15-Nov-18 10:19:47

No, not another referendum please, this could go on for ever.

Lynn1 Thu 15-Nov-18 10:20:23

I am sure I typed 2%!

Apologies.

Maccyt1955 Thu 15-Nov-18 10:20:38

The thing that makes me laugh (or cry!), is that the ‘leavers’ keep banging on that ‘the people voted’; yes they did, but nearly half voted to remain. I think if a lot of ‘leavers’ realised what a shambles this has turned out to be, not to mention a humiliation in the eyes of the world; they would have voted otherwise.

Jo1960 Thu 15-Nov-18 10:23:52

There should never have been a referendum in the first place. We elect and pay our MPs to represent us and govern the country. In my view the whole Brexit thing should be abandoned as the Leave campaign has been found to have lied, cheated and made ridiculous promises they cannot keep for their own gain. Most people in the country will suffer as a result of this project; the only winners are the super rich and the far right. We should be strengthening our links with Europe rather than kowtowing to the US.

leeds22 Thu 15-Nov-18 10:31:42

Still a Remainer but not sure we should have another referendum. Let TM have her settlement with the EU, I don't imagine we will get anything better. I bless Cameron every day for landing us in this sh*t.

Neilspurgeon0 Thu 15-Nov-18 10:34:00

I stand shoulder to shoulder with poppyred on this - yes indeed I would vote to get away from this poisonous crew, if anything the last year has made me even more determined that Britain will definitely be better standing alone, as we have so often previously

Skye17 Thu 15-Nov-18 10:36:44

I would certainly vote Leave again.

We have already had a people’s vote. I don’t think I’d want another referendum even if I had voted Remain. It takes the meaning out of the word ‘referendum’ if you keep holding them. Plus they cost a lot.

NannyG123 Thu 15-Nov-18 10:39:02

I would still vote leave, the sooner the better.

Doreen5 Thu 15-Nov-18 10:40:09

Leave.

dayvidg Thu 15-Nov-18 10:40:21

Voted leave and would still. Bitterly disappointed that a decision made on a national basis should have been hijacked by the political parties for their own interests rather than the national interest. A united Parliament, working for the national interest, could have achieved a much brighter future for both ourselves and Europe instead of this farcical outcome proposed by a section of the Conservative party.

Aepgirl Thu 15-Nov-18 10:40:56

I voted 'leave' because I was sick of this country not having control of its own laws. I don't see this changing, but please NOT ANOTHER REFERENDUM.

Neilspurgeon0 Thu 15-Nov-18 10:43:38

My MP, a Brexiteer through and through, has just resigned in protest at the pointless and unacceptable compromises in TMs “withdrawal agreement” so I know that my views are supported both locally AND in Westminster

Fearless Thu 15-Nov-18 10:43:55

I just don't understand why anyone would consider it undemocratic to have another vote. Nobody is demanding that the majority (leavers) change their minds. We now know exactly what kind of Brexit we are voting for (TM's deal) and it seems only reasonable to check that this is what everybody wants. If, as seems likely, leave wins again Britain can go ahead knowing it is the people's choice. If, however, in the light of further facts now available people have changed their minds, surely it would be undemocratic to go ahead because of an earlier decision based on fewer facts? How can another free choice be undemocratic?

Theoddbird Thu 15-Nov-18 10:44:08

I would still vote to leave...

Kim19 Thu 15-Nov-18 10:44:23

After all the shenanigans, I am currently hugely ashamed of our leadership of all colours. Given another vote - which I sincerely hope not - I would now vote to leave. I fully accept that this may prove very difficult for a time but I have to be prepared to tolerate that. All I want now is to be free of the fetters of the EU lock, stock and barrel. Never thought I'd hear myself saying that........

j00ls312 Thu 15-Nov-18 10:49:57

I would vote leave again. Don’t want to be governed by unelected Eurocrats I worked in Brussels and witnessed the sheer incompetence and waste of money first hand. Every month my office had to pack up and move from Brussels to Strasbourg at vast expense - to work there for 4 days. All to assuage France’s feelings.
I don’t agree with 16/17 yr olds voting, it’s their future but also 13 yr olds future, 14 yrs old, 15 yr olds - where is the line drawn? I had no vote in 1975 when the country voted to stay in the EEC as it was

sarahellenwhitney Thu 15-Nov-18 10:51:05

We can't have another ref.Is this not what Barnier and Co want. So keep making it difficult for the ' remainer' who is the last person we want to get us out once and for all
The one 'out' should should be the one who hasn't the b***s to get us out.

Paul2706 Thu 15-Nov-18 10:57:52

Well I voted remain based on the fact that our economy at present cannot support the £60bn the EU expects in compensation. Will the EU be bothered if we lose vital services no but it seems the government has shafted us whatever the outcome

maryeliza54 Thu 15-Nov-18 10:58:13

If you can’t see the legal differences between a 16 year old and a 13 year old jOOLs... when the Scottish ref was on, I heard far more sense from 16/17 year olds than I did from many so called adults. Anyone who uses the reductio ad absurdum argument as you and others do on GN are demonstrating an inability to present a logical argument

Skye17 Thu 15-Nov-18 10:59:43

Just thinking about how another referendum could be called undemocratic.

- It would ignore the previous democratic decision. People voted then under the impression this would decide the matter.
- Voters are already pretty disillusioned with the democratic process and pretty apathetic in general. If there is more than one referendum, they could feel that those in power will ignore votes until they get the result they want, so there is no point voting, and vote less in the future.

charjoy Thu 15-Nov-18 11:03:47

I voted leave and would vote leave again. We are a great country and the EU know that - they don't want us to leave. They treat us with disdain. They are unelected and they are all on a gravy train. There is so much waste with their posh buildings, expenses etc. Remember we are GREAT BRITAIN! Let's go it alone but remain on a friendly basis with all. NATO will suffice for our protection.

Lancslass1 Thu 15-Nov-18 11:10:07

Jo1960 I agree with you that there should not have been a Referendum in the first place

I voted leave
I would still vote leave.
There should definitely not be another Referendum .
What would happen if -as I suspect -the result remained the same?
Would Remainers want yet another referendum.?
I actually feel sorry for Teresa May .
She was a Remainer and with some of the colleagues she has ,she doesn't need enemies

Do you remember the days when we could respect our MPs?
Whatever Party you supported there were clever men and women who knew what they were talking about-Winston Churchill ,Shirley Williams,John Smith ,
I can count those I respect now on the fingers of one hand .

quizqueen Thu 15-Nov-18 11:12:23

I voted for Brexit and will never regret it. The EU is a corrupt and power mad organisation which we should all be thankful to be leaving. It has only ever been interested in our continued membership for the money we contribute. If we agreed to stay now, you would find we would have the euro before you know it, be forced to be part of Schengen, our rebate would be withdrawn and the annual fees increased (over £50,000,000 A DAY at present), our 'bad' influence would be diminished, our armed forced merged etc.

yggdrasil, I assume you mean Aaron Banks! What happened to innocent until proved guilty in this country or don't you believe in that system? I also don't remember Mr Putin knocking on my door, campaigning during the referendum. I voted out in 1975. Nothing has happened to change my mind.

The Italians seemed rather gutless over the earlier part of the last century but they now seem to have got their Roman spirit back. Hopefully, they and other like minded EU states (they are not recognised as countries by the EU) will get together, once we are gone, and finish the EU off and we can all return to be single European countries being friendly with each other and trading fairly and supporting each other where each decide to do so.
