I have a “ signature” perfume Nuxe Prodigieux, I find the scent uplifting and really sensuous.

For every day I use scents from Jeanne en Provence, their perfumes are from £8-£20 a bottle, the smells really make you feel as though you’re in Southern France, light, delicate, feminine floral notes.

Special occasions it’s Juliet has a Gun Lady Vengeance, it is so provocative and empowering.

What are your favourites and why?

Body shops White Musk is my absolute favourite. I can never smell it on myself but everybody comments on how nice I smell when wearing it & my girls always know when I've been cuddling the little ones as they smell of nanny! Also love Sensual by Estee Lauder & CK1. I love any perfumes that have a musky smell though I did order an Arabian musk oil from Amazon that was so strong it made me feel sick & gave me a banging headache. I gave it to my mum & even being near her wearing it gave me a headache!

I was sitting in the hairdressers, many years ago, reading a magazine article about what men think about women's perfumes. Many of the men commented that L'ancome Tresor made them want to hug the person wearing it. I drew the line at rushing out with the colour still developing on my hair but, as soon as I could, I bought some. Some time later, a guy in the queue to pay for petrol asked me what it was as, he explained, he'd like to get it for his wife but he didn't hug me and I've had no spontaneous hugs since I've been wearing it (sad face) but it is a lovely fragrance and I don't bother with any others.

Chanel No.5; I`ve loved it all my life, it makes me feel confident and somehow safe!
Lost, by Miller Harris, is also one of my favourites; Miller Harris scents are quite pricey but many of them are offered online in little phials which are 3 quid each and last for ages.

Anything by Guerlain

for many years I have worn only YSL Paris EDP which I jut love the smell of. its fresh and f lowery and lasts onlt need to apply one in the morning and it lasts all day (Used to be YSL champagne which was rebranded as Yvres when champagne growers sued them for using the word Champagne). About two years ago I found YSL Manifesto EDP which is a perfume that is quite intense to start but then just lingers seductively and I get a lot of comments from strangers even hours after applied, about how lovely I smell when wearing it. Recently I was given a sample of Paco Raban Lady Millions gold EDP and OMG I love it, it is fresh and "me"It also lasts for a long time so only need to apply once. This gets the same comments that manifesto gets so now I wear Lady millions for work, Manifetso or Paris to go out in the evenings. I have 2 100ml bottles of each in my perfume drawer. Dont waste money on eau de Toilette it doesnt last anywhwere near the time the Eau De Parfum does, it may be far less expensive to buy but has a much cheaper smell and is false economy in the end as you need to use apply it more often through the day or evening, something I would hate to have to do.

Just laughed when I reminded DH how he chose my perfume because he liked the bottle and the box . His reply was “ oh yes and there was 20% off all perfumes in M&S at the time too” grin

I have now been using Anais Anais by Cacherel for 40 years, since I was given a voucher before a school trip to Paris and went to their shop on the Rue de Rivoli to get my free sample. I have tried others but have so far never found one I liked more, and my family associate it with me so it has sort of become my signature scent. Sadly I have a poor nose and can't smell it myself after a while, but others say they like it.

I'm wearing J'adore by Dior now and it's lovely. I also like Chance by Chanel. When I was young I always wore L'Air du Temps by Nina Ricci

gillybob Fri 24-Apr-20 12:09:13

Oh I love J’adore it’s so beautiful Lookout01 . I will wear that every day in my next life smile

Molecule One, I can’t smell it on me but other people can and I get so many compliments when wearing it. Available at Harvey Nicks and Liberty but you can also get it on line.

I only wear Angel by Thierry Mughler as it suits me and people often compliment me when I am wearing it - chocolate and vanilla!

mrsgreenfingers56 Fri 24-Apr-20 12:13:23

Anybody remember "Wild Musk Oil" by Coty and "Aqua Manda" Oh I loved those fragrances but can't seem to find these days.

deec Fri 24-Apr-20 12:14:58

I have worn only Givenchy Organza since my children were born (now in their 40’s). They now buy it for me as they say it’s part of their lives and I mustn’t EVER wear anything else! Lovely perfume....goodness knows what I’d do if they ever discontinued it.

Grannyjacq1 Fri 24-Apr-20 12:24:29

Anyone remember Oscar de la Renta? Haven't seen it for years.

Monimon14 Fri 24-Apr-20 12:30:40

I am addicted to Jo Malone ”Red Roses” but nearly all fragrances from Jo Malone can do

Xander Fri 24-Apr-20 12:31:43

mrsgreenfingers56 with you re Coty Wild Musk Oil. My favorite of all time. In 70s my signature perfume. I was told by friends/colleagues they always knew where I had been. Possible I used too much!!!!!!I did not care. So sad when discontinued. Now I find DKNY range on the whole great.

We loved Blue Grass when I was at college (a long time ago!) and I bought Je Reviens When I got married

May7 Fri 24-Apr-20 12:40:57

It's strange isnt it (or maybe not as were all different) how perfume smells are attracted by some and repulsed by others. I've been reading through and have smelt most of them on here. Chanel no 5 seems to be a winner and one I like but cant afford . However Angel, Youth Dew, Poison, Opium ,Je Reviens, Musk oil
all make me feel sick. Really quite sensitive to perfume but I like Rock Princess by Vera Wang and used to put Georgio on my DD wrist when she started primary school
smile just to help with her home/school transition

Noreen3 Fri 24-Apr-20 12:44:23

I've loved Avon, right from the 1960s,then it was Unforgettable, also Pretty Peach, which was really for little girls but all us girls at work liked it. I've liked Far Away since it was introduced some years ago,I also like Far Away Rebel, and Eve Truth.I don't need any other perfumes when I can buy Avon.

Is anyone else old enough to remember Schiaparelli "Shocking" and "Magnificence" by Molyneux? Both only suitable for very posh evening events but was young and wore them in the daytime and felt very glamorous! Nowadays I tend to wear perfumes from either Chanel or Dior but my daytime choice is usually Clinique Aromatic Elixir. This is a strange perfume since it does not change whoever is wearing it as others do, so we devotees can always recognise each other!
Last summer when others felt too heavy I bought Elizabeth Arden Blue Grass which must have been my very first perfume. Ah,memories!

Cambia Fri 24-Apr-20 12:48:48

Have been using Clinique Aromatique since it came out! Must be years and years. I can no longer smell it but everyone always asks what it is and says how nice it is! Annoying that I can’t smell it too!

I do love all Nuxe products. Just finishing a sample of their Nuxe oil and it smells divine. Definitely treating myself when I get back to the UK.

gillyknits Fri 24-Apr-20 13:00:58

I love Reve by Van Cleef and Arpels. It’s getting harder and harder to get.
Used to wear Charlie and Eau D’Issey.
