The f****** Daily Mail

All this hatred towards a top selling award winning newspaper is getting tedious in the extreme.

If you have Left wing views you of course will not agree with the editorials or some journalists take on things but that doesn’t justify the nonsense and hatred spouted.

Out of interest take the trouble to look up the various campaigns and fund raising which the paper has done just over the past year or two.
Mail Force is the most recent .

The Guardian, Times and Daily Telegraph on line all have a perfectly easy to read layout - why on earth read the Mail just to complain about it?
Or subscribe to none of them and get The Week, an excellent, informed and impartial summary of news stories from all around the world as well as the U.K.

I no longer buy or read the daily newspaper as most of what is in them is rubbish. I keep up with most of what is going on by listening to daily news on television or radio once a day.
I no longer want to hear all the different depressing information that papers and sometimes media is sending out to us.

I read about both those things (the asteroid and changes in Earth's magnetic field) elsewhere. I can't remember where but it wasn't the DM. The stories were not scary.

As I live abroad I don't buy any newspapers. So I just read the DM online and anything else that catches my fancy. But I skim over the headings and find that if you read one article the next one contradicts it especially where the Corona virus is concerned. I didnt notice the asteroid one or the one about the earth's magnetic field but they are not subjects that would bother me. I stopped believing in what the papers printed when I was 17 and the local paper ran a story about my grandmother being ill and my rather dramatic aunt had a BBC request put out for my father to return from holiday to see his mother who was in hospital. The paper made it seem as though my father had not seen his mother for about 30 years whereas he had seen her the day before he went on holiday. I made sure they printed an apology the following week. My grandmother actually died 13 years later at the age of 90. My mother never forgave my aunt for ruining their holiday.

I don't read it and I don't like it much, but I don't get the hatred.

All of our papers have a target readership and an agenda.

The Times last Saturday was also full of the Normal People guff.

I've given up on the news for now because, apart from CV, there's nothing much to read about.

BlueBelle the Fail may well churn out despicable crap but there's obviously enough demand to enable it to keep on doing so.

One thing the DM doesn't do is Fail.

It has a readership of people who claim to loathe it.

We haven’t bought a newspaper for over 35 years. We used to get The Sun. My husband liked the crosswords, and it was easy to read when you’re young with a new baby. After they had front page news, and centrefold, about the antics Andrew Ridgley got up to in his sports cars, and then a short piece about a missing child I think, on one of the other pages, we decided their priorities weren’t ours. We’ve never bought a newspaper since. Sometimes, I may have glanced over them in waiting rooms etc. Then remembered why we stopped buying them in the first place.

The Saturday’s DMs tv magazine is excellent but I wouldn’t go as far as chucking the paper in the bin before I had a little peep!.
We have had the daily telegraph delivered for over 40 years now and I do buy the occasional DM. I’m not a bit bothered what other people think of it’s reporting. Surely no one believes all the stuff they read in the newspaper anyway except maybe Guardian readers!.

I agree too and have commented about this paper to my husband. One day figures are up next day down. I’m trying not to read it I never did before the virus tbh.

Next thing will be going on about panic buying Brexit at the end of the year, I recall photos in it of lorries down south etc never materialised, they said no petrol a few weeks ago and blackouts.

Why would you want to scaremonger like this just stupid.

I should ignore these “I hate the Daily Mail “ threads but the comments are illogical.

We all have newspapers we like and those which irritate but it’s so surprising how those who claim to hate the Mail are always commenting on articles in it!

We all read newspapers which reflect our own views surely?

In the main I love the Mail journalists, but I am aware that those with Left leaning views probably shouldn’t, for instance, read Richard Littlejohn although for a lot of us he is absolutely spot on!

they make stuff up well, any amateur astronomer will tell you it's not fake news, purplepixie. But neither is any of it 'new' news. Both stories have been known about for a long time.

Perhaps they thought it would make a change from COVID19.

It's interesting that it is always the left wing posters who seem to have read The Mail from cover to cover and quote from it. I think it's a GN hobby.

Just cant be bothered with news papers and havent bought one for years. I became very suspicious of them in my teens. I could see then it was all mostly made up or downright lies. I keep up with the world on line or from interesting documentaries.

I read the DM on-line. I know some of the stories are bazaar but I just love the comments section. Some of them are hilarious.

The DNPM was a bit slow off the mark there.

I asked DH about those two things and he said 'but I told you a while ago had you forgotten already? Or weren't you listening?'
Apparently the asteroid, depending on which rag you read, is 1 mile wide, 2 miles wide, will hit earth, will pass 4 million miles from earth, has been and gone.

There will be more.
