Intend to get flowers for graves this morning , which means a bus journey ,and then an easy day in watching the Tour de France on TV , yet Brits in another cycle race in in Italy for under 23`s seem to fairing better .
Take Care ,
Mick

Good morning from sunny Colchester. Wednesday coffee meetup in the park this morning as the weather is fine. I can't see our group meetings carrying on over the winter as there are too many of us and the invitation is for anyone to drop in.

Urmstongran Wed 02-Sept-20 07:53:10

Xd posts GG13 what an anxious day you must all have had plus an upset 5y old. Great news however that the test was negative.

Great relief, gg13. When it happened to our DGD, once diagnosed and the fear allayed, her cold went very quickly!

Grammaretto Wed 02-Sept-20 07:59:38

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Weather: nothing to write home about as the expression goes
We have an anxious DGD starting at High School tomorrow in England too Sar . Luckily one of her primary school friends is going to the same one and will call for her.
I think there'll be a lot of absences especially when the cold season begins.
Here we have the lass who cuts the grass coming and the lad who fixes the computer. But my lovely yarn group has had to stop meeting as it's too cold outdoors.
Have a good day Mick and all who follow.

Morning Mick and All.

Sunny day in South Bucks.

Preparing for a few days away in Somerset from tomorrow.

I like your pond Aggie.

Good morning from a dry Morecambe Bay where it is dry but the Met office have us on a yellow warning for rain today. I hope not because I need to do some outside housework.
Coming home from the funeral yesterday the engine warning light in our camper came on. A bit concerning as we were on the motorway. Don’t know what it’s playing at - we got home ok and it was running well. We are using the camper all the time for travelling at the moment as we have our own facilities. No doubt sorting it out will be expensive. Will ring our garage later.
DH has a blood test today ahead of his telephone appointment with the consultant next week. It’s only been 6 weeks since his last one, as that one was delayed because of the virus. The surgery was only carrying out urgent blood tests and didn’t consider DH’s test as urgent until the consultant’s secretary phoned to see why he hadn’t had it done. That test result was ok, so I’m not unduly worried. I get quite worked up when his blood tests are due.
Take care and stay safe everyone ?

cornergran Wed 02-Sept-20 08:05:13

Morning Mick, morning All. Early sunshine has disappeared, clouds over our corner of Somerset. Slept well, so why am I still exhausted? Must get to the dust removal that passed me by yesterday. One of ours is in the same boat sar, first day today, such a worried soul. What a relief gg13, suspect there will be colds aplenty to worry families once all the children are back in school. Take care everyone, be gentle with yourselves.

Grammaretto Wed 02-Sept-20 08:05:36

That's a relief GG13 ! My DD had the exact same dash on Monday when the 2yr old had a temp and was full of the cold after her first morning at playgroup. The results were through by text within 24hrs so she could send her older DD to school.

Grandmabatty Wed 02-Sept-20 08:07:59

Good morning All. It's a quiet, grey morning in Polmont. Yesterday was a lovely day with the whirlwind that is dgs. He ate non stop! I think he's going through a growth spurt. He's such a sunny, happy wee chap. His greatest delight at the moment is the be held up and he switches the lights on and off. Again and again. The look of joy on his wee face makes my heart leap. We went back to the park we discovered last week and had fun. Today I'll visit mum, then I'm dropping into my oldest friend's house for a coffee. This afternoon should be a WhatsApp chat with other friends. So a sociable day for me. I hope you all have a good day.

Gelisajams Wed 02-Sept-20 08:10:16

Welcome good news GG13 big relief for you.

Gingster Wed 02-Sept-20 08:17:05

Good morning all from an autumnal feeling Essex. We are back for a few weeks for appointments and family and friends meet ups. Tomorrow I’m seeing my two oldest friends who I started school with aged 5. This year we have ‘celebrated’ our 70ths. We were going away together but , of course, couldn’t. So special to have friends who have gone through ‘life’ together. I love them dearly ♥️

GG13 sorry to hear your little GS is poorly but pleased it isn’t the virus. My GS aged 14 hasn’t felt well for a couple of days. It’s difficult to know whether it’s just a cold or something else. My DD found him googling his symptoms and he thinks it’s Covid. She’ll get him tested if he doesn’t perk up. I feel so sorry for the children worrying about this awful virus.

Sar I’m sure your GD will be fine once she’s settled in. You only need one or two likeminded pals to feel included in school life. Not easy for some though. My DG 3 starts secondary school also tomorrow. She feels excited but nervous I know. DIL has made sure she has seen friends during the holidays so hopefully all will be well. Girls , especially, worry about friendships.

My eldest GD popped in yesterday with all her news of starting Uni. I had started to wonder if the universities would open. But she has her accommodation and start times all sorted. They are staggering the arrivals and give each one 3 hours to get settled with 2 family members to help. I do hope it doesn’t cause spikes in the virus (which is highly likely, I think) ?

Oh dear , all these worries and concerns. It hasn’t been a good year all round for everyone.

Let’s all have as peaceful day as possible. ?

Sar53 Wed 02-Sept-20 08:34:09

GG13 so glad the news is good. Such a worry for you all. Take care and best wishes xx

Auntieflo Wed 02-Sept-20 08:35:36

Good morning Mick, Annie and all.
I was thrown when I saw the other good morning post, but may be it isn't a he, could be a she?
It is our wedding anniversary today, 69 years, and we usually try to go away to celebrate. Not this year though, and our trips away for our birthdays have also been cancelled. No wonder I've been fed up to the back teeth this year!
At least the sun is shining, but it is definitely autumn now, with an early morning chill in the air. I did get some autum cyclamen from a local Freecycler, that cheered me up yesterday.
Aggie loved your pot pond, and relieved to hear that your GSon's results were clear GG13, what a relief.
I had a free afternoon yesterday, as the charity shop that I volunteer in, was closed unexpectedly. After worrying about what was wrong, I found out that our manageress had to dash off to visit a very poorly relative.
Have a good day one and all.

grannysyb Wed 02-Sept-20 08:41:03

Lovely bright day here, so I think I will go for a walk before I do some house work as my cleaner is away! Also need to do some sewing and buy food. Hope everyone stays well.

MawB2 Wed 02-Sept-20 08:45:12

Good morning Mick and all on this thread on a lovely crisp September morning. I love this time of year as it is not yet time for that depressing slide into November and Winter.
Congratulations Auntieflo on a long and happy marriage ??. Something to be envied and admired as it isn’t always plain sailing is it?
Waved DD and DGS off back to London yesterday afternoon after a few days with me and promptly fell asleep for an hour! 5 months of no personal contact has taken its toll I fear as it is a big chunk of a 4 year old’s life and he was initially inclined to cling to Mummy. However I am sure that if we can manage more day visits or the odd overnight our old relationship will be restored. As they went I did shed a tear at the silence in the house.
Wishing you all well and a pleasant day.

Marydoll Wed 02-Sept-20 08:45:36

Good morning all from a grey Glasgow, it's pouring down here and the heating is on. ☹️
I think I was meant to be born in the Med, I'm always cold.?
I've been up and dressed since the crack of dawn, ???, after a night of nightmares, due to the next batch of the dreaded injections being delivered first thing.

As for the other morning thread, I have responded to the other poster on a number of occasions, kindly suggesting he/ she join this thread if they are seeking company.
So far, the poster has never responded after their first OP
and I have been ignored.?
It's usually started in the middle of the night, so the poster is either an insomniac or in another time zone. ?

Sadly I have no good news today. We are back in semi lockdown, no-one at all allowed inside our homes for two weeks.
My friend's son is getting married on Saturday, so she had to quickly call a family meeting last night, before lockdown kicked in at midnight. She is in a real state about it all.

There has been a significant rise in confirmed Covid cases, here, after having none, allegedly caused by people returning from holidaying in Greece.
Apparently it's being spread by people hosting events at home, not following guidelines , with no social distancing. One of the outbreaks, originally linked to two local eateries, is very close to my home, so unfortunately I'm confined to barracks again.

I received the much dreaded text last night from the Shielding support people, advising me what I can do or not do, specifically in my area. I'm practically grounded again.?
We had lunch booked for tomorrow in a very nice Italian restaurant, booked and cancelled umpteen times, since Christmas due to my unpredictable health. I will cancel again, I can't take any chances, despite the gift vouchers burning a hole in my pocket since?

I'm not concerned about my own welfare, but that of my four year old, wee granddaughter, who has been previously shielding and is into her third week at school.
She has been advised to continue going to school. It's all very worrying. The bubble is well and truly burst again.?

My supermarket visit yesterday wasn't much of a success.
I arrived to find it was being refurbished and there was no clothing or home depts. My plan had been to meander, without DH, huffing and puffing impatiently at my shoulder. ?
I couldn't find my phone to tell DH, I had arrived safely, the self scanner couldn't recognise my Nectar card to activate it, it wouldn't download the info at checkout and my £ 10.50 voucher wouldn't work.? It took help from three, very patient assistants to sort things. Well done Sainsbury's!?
Apart from that, I had a very pleasant visit!?

I plan to cut DH's hair and in return, he will paint my toenails. We shall see how that pans out.? I don't trust him to cut my nails, as the last time, he nearly took the top off my toe. Ouch!!!

Have the best day you can everyone. Thinking of all our struggling friends.?

Gingster Wed 02-Sept-20 08:46:04

Oh happy anniversary Auntieflo. What a lovely long marriage you have had. Have a special day! ?

EllanVannin Wed 02-Sept-20 08:49:36

Good Morning All x.
It was a lovely start to the day but it's clouded over now. At least it's dry so far. Yesterday was really pleasant but getting noticeably cooler now. Heating goes on for a couple of hours before bedtime.

A neighbour popped in for a chat yesterday. The last time we had a good natter was the end of March so we managed to get up to date with news. I made sure there was plenty of air circulating as I threw open the patio door, though I know she's also been on her own too and not mixing.

Reading the local paper tells me that there have been a few cases of the virus in mainly under 30's in the area. It had remained comparatively low locally so I'll have to keep an eye on that for fear there's a lockdown. What a bloomin' nuisance just as you think it might be fizzling out.

I was thrilled to see the news that Ocado has linked up with M&S to start a delivery service, so I signed up in readiness yesterday, though a neighbour will be taking me shopping there tomorrow. I hope they'll be able to keep up with demand because it'll be heavy going with delivery slots----especially before Christmas so the order will have to be in pretty smartish.

Nothing on the agenda so far but I'll make a list for what I want tomorrow then I won't be darting around as normal. It'll be my first time in an " outside " shop since March so no doubt masks will be in order and " line-ups " in shops ? I won't be so keen on that but will have to comply.

Hope everyone is doing alright and managing to stay free from bugs etc. The test will be after children have attended school for a week or two. We'll cross that bridge when we come to it.

Thoughts to those who this year has been a struggle for them flowers It's not normal in anyone's books.
Enjoy this time of year in Spain, you lasses, also GrandmaFrench , as I've visited both places in September and it's lovely.

Stay safe and well everyone xx

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. The sun is in and out by turns in South Yorkshire and it feels rather cool. I’m not sure what we are supposed to be doing today, but I feel very croaky and congested at the moment. GS is back at school tomorrow but we will not be taking up the after school reins until next week and then under a strict regime, so no unnecessary contact☹️!
Auntieflo a very happy anniversary to you??.
Grannygravy very glad you little one’s test was negative! What a worry!
Have a good safe day, folks.

Marydoll Wed 02-Sept-20 08:50:37

Auntieflo, many congratulations! That is a very long time to be married.????
I hope you both have a lovely day.

Congratulations to you both Aunrieflo???

Good morning all from sunny Manchester. Just been looking through pics of gs1 going to school on his first day. His school bag is nearly as big as him! Few chores this morning, not sure yet about the afternoon. Probably a walk while it's so nice. Collect gs2 from nursery later for an hour. Love these little boys. Gs3 is 3 months old already. Doesn't seem 2 minutes since I was posting about his imminent arrival! Have a good day everyone. flowersfor those with cares and worries.

mancgirl Wed 02-Sept-20 09:29:02

Congrats Auntyflo??

CherryCezzy Wed 02-Sept-20 09:36:09

Good morning everyone. Dull and overcast in the Gower today.

My appointment at the breast clinic went well yesterday and I'm free until my check up in a year's time ?. Thanks for the congrats yesterday Susan, I noticed your post very late.
When I got back in our car to come home the car wouldn't start ?. This has been an intermittent problem since we were pranged into just before lockdown and of course low usage hasn't helped ?. Anyway, I digress. My WP had to seek someone out to help us, thankfully pretty easy - daunting though given social distancing. I'm just glad there was a lovely lady who was more than willing to help and that we keep jump leads in the car. We only love 10/15 minutes in the car from the hospital so we went the long way home to give the engine a run. When we got home we tried ringing the garage, it's overdue for a service and MOT anyway, but the phone just rang and rang. We'll have to try again shortly.

Pleased to hear that all your concern over your DGS has been put at rest GG13 and it's just a cold that he has.

Sar and Grammaretto I'm sure it will be fine in the end for your DGDs off to senior schools. Similarly Susan for your DGS going to nursery for a full day for the first time, aww ☺️.

Happy anniversary to you and your DH Auntyflo ??. Enjoy your special day together.

Sending ??? to our missing posters.

Stay safe everyone and have a pleasant day everyone ❤️
