Good morning from another grey day in E Kent. I can’t remember the last time it rained. It was very warm yesterday, and I had put away my summer things...
DGS had his first day at VIth form college and the bus managed to get him there late. It didn’t seem to faze him; I would have been beside myself.
A friend gave me 7 lb of green cherry tomatoes yesterday, so guess how I spent the day? Couldn’t finish as I didn’t have enough sugar or vinegar. I’ll give the jars to the church or WI for various fetes/fundraising.
Today will be spent boiling chutney for up to 4hours and trying to do the edging on my quilt. It’s infuriating to see the end but not be able to do anything due to other commitments.
Hope you had a happy birthday lunch, Maple.
Have the best day possible y’all. Stay safe.

Morning Mick from cool Espana - enjoy the fair, all the fiestas in Spain were cancelled this year !

Missed you all yesterday as I had an awful sleep (bit like Marydoll ?) then spent two hours on Waitrose putting an order together for when we get back to lovely Wales next week as we’ll be quarantined.

EllanVannin/Gingster - 10 weeks has flown past and we’ve had a marvellous time in the sun, eating out and seeing friends, all bemasked, disinfected and distanced! It’s amazing ? how adaptable we become when faced with obstacles isn’t it?

Out to lunch later with the Ladies where I may partake of a libation or two - first since my silly overindulgence Sunday night?

Hope you all have a good day and absent friends pop in to see us again x. And welcome to all the newbies who’ve joined - the more I see your names, they’ll soon sink in!

Beechnut Thu 10-Sept-20 06:28:57

Good Morning everyone from Severnside. A darker statrt dew on the cars with a fairly clear sky.

I guess after yesterday’s news I’ll be carrying on as this years usual. Doesn’t look like what small number of activities I did will be able to open anytime soon ☹️ My family stuff will be the same as now.

I’m going to visit the Beechnut Beauty Parlour (I might be awhile in there) a diy shop and maybe visit an old friend
today.

Have a good day all and stay safe ?

G'Day to all from Melbourne

A beautiful mild and sunny day here today, Spring is definitely on the way.
Just some domestic chores for me today. My house cleaners are not able to come for at least another 6 weeks so I have had to reacquaint myself with the vacuum cleaner. My back does not like it one bit.

Gave OH a haircut which even if I say so myself does not look too bad, particularly for my first attempt as such a task. Thinning scissors did the trick, thank goodness for my dog grooming treasure trove.

Hope everyone has a good day wherever you are and what ever you are doing. Take care and stay safe.

Good morning all from cloudy Derbyshire. I was relieved that yesterday's light rain didn't affect my hay crop and it is drying out nicely. Hopefully it will be baled and stored under cover by the weekend and I can stop fretting about it.

grandMattie I'm still living in hope that my tomatoes will ripen. There are a lot of green ones though.

I'm just off to do my weekly shop. Should be fairly quiet there at this time. We're collecting our grandsons from school later. I'll watch racing on tv this afternoon until then.

Hope everyone's feeling well and that today is a good day for all.

Morning Mick, morning All Blue sky over our corner of Somerset. You’ve reminded me spice, I need to trim Mr C’s hair, have always been his in-house barber. Grocery delivery due unreasonably early then taking a picnic somewhere, where is still under debate. Trying to stay away from people, there’s a covid upsurge in a village close by so definitely not going in that direction. Take care everyone, stay safe.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 10-Sept-20 07:06:21

Good morning Mick and all

It is already bright and sunny here in S E Essex. We have a stressful day ahead....workmen are going to be digging down through the sitting room floor today. They are going down to inspect the foundation’s to find out why our internal walls are developing cracks again (it’s two years this month since we had four months of renovations to correct the problem, it didn’t work)!!!

Keep safe and well folks ?‍♀️

Scentia Thu 10-Sept-20 07:07:13

Good Morning all from East Staffordshire. Warm but grey out there today. Just got back from walking the pooch and now I will get myself sorted for a day at the factory.
DH has joined me in a vegan lifestyle, was a bit of a shock as I have been vegan for 7 years and he has never shown a desire before but when I ordered the shop this week he said not to get him any milk, Cheese or butter and no meat or fish as he wanted to try this “vegan thingy” that I do?
Have a good day everyone and stay safe.

Good morning everyone from a sunny Essex by the sea, it looks like good weather for the next few days.
I had a long chat with my eldest brother last night, he lives in Chichester, has severe COPD and until recently was shielding. We were reminiscing about mum and dad, it would have been mum's birthday tomorrow, she would have been 92. Both parents died in their 70's far too young compared with a lot of people.
Spice101 I have an aunt and uncle who live in Seaford and I know you are having a very severe lockdown, lovely to see you on gransnet.
No plans apart from a walk today for me, DH will meet up with his 3 Thursday friends for a drink and gossip this afternoon.
Have a great day everyone and stay safe xx

Good morning from Shropshire.

Yesterday was another sunny day so we spent the afternoon harvesting crops from our veg plot.We have had really good results this year despite the strange weather.Lots of carrots,French runner beans and tomato sauce in the freezer, onions hanging in the garage and next job is bottling and preserving the beetroot.

Today is our first day looking after Henry at our house?we will collect DGD from school and then take them both home.

Scentia,DH has been vegetarian for 40 years,I joined him 20 years ago.I always thought I wouldn’t be able to do vegan but since Henry was diagnosed with dairy and egg allergies we have been using a lot of plant based alternatives.

Mary hope you are feeling brighter today and thinking of you too gilly?

Also thinking of all our absent posters?

Have a good day all.

brook2704 Thu 10-Sept-20 07:31:12

Good morning everyone from a grey but dry Inverness - can’t see any blue in the sky yet today
I got my hair done yesterday so feeling better about that but I still need to sort out my wardrobe as I’ve definitely become very casual and and a bit too comfortable recently..... I don’t need to worry about cutting DH hair as he doesn’t have much ?
Hope the builders don’t cause too much disruption grannygravy and the problem is identified!
Enjoy your last week in sunny Spain pantglas and your lunch date later today!
Hope everyone has the best day possible and take care whatever the day brings ?

Pittcity Thu 10-Sept-20 07:37:08

Good morning from sunny Colchester.
An empty house today so the floors will be mopped and laundry tackled.

Grandmabatty Thu 10-Sept-20 07:41:50

Good morning All. It's bright skies here in Polmont with some cloud. Definitely autumnal and lots of dew on the cars. I'm up fairly early for me to go and pick up and take my grandson to his granddad's house. Not much to do today so I will get on with a cross stitch kit. Have a good day all.

Jaxjacky Thu 10-Sept-20 07:46:42

Good morning Mick and everyone from S Hants, sun’s out, but chilly though. I had about five inches taken off my hair a few weeks ago, it was driving me mad in the heat and was very happy with it. It needs cut again already! I should have realised this will be a more frequent event, so friend coming next Tuesday for a trim in the garden. Had a recommended man visit yesterday to discuss our will revisions, very good and reasonable £89 for both, a job nearly ticked off the list.
I hope those absent, struggling maybe, have a peaceful day and all of us an enjoyable one. X

Urmstongran Thu 10-Sept-20 07:49:16

Sun’s up here! ?
Good morning everyone from Malaga where I’m aching - feet, calves, hips - as we strolled unto Torremolinos and back yesterday, a round trip of just shy of 10 miles. The sun was shining though and it’s not sweltering like in August, which is why I’m happy to walk there again ?

Planning to just sit in the gardens today, read, have a swim, repeat. Himself is just going across the road to SuperSol now for the 3 of us - our neighbour passes us a list every Wednesday evening.

Hope Thursday is good to us all and that your builders don’t find ‘The Borrowers’ GG13 when they pull up your floorboards! Keep safe everyone that’s the main thing. x

Gingster Thu 10-Sept-20 07:50:15

Good morning all from a lovely morning in Essex. It’s been a lovely September so far. Blue skies with not a breath of wind.

Today I’m going to my bowls group. Haven’t played since March and now after yesterday’s announcements, we won’t be able to meet after Monday. Grrrr!

Having my hair done this afternoon. It has gone so light (white) , and long. Last time I went I was persuaded by family and hairdresser not to have it coloured (it’s lovely they said) and only to have a trim. Well it’s driving me mad and I hate it, so today it will be short and tinted.

Still doing DD’s washing. The mans going today to fix her machine ??. She has 4 children - two of whom are 14 yr old twin boys. Well I’ve had their white sports socks in soak all night and they’re still not pristine.

I feel for you grannygravy . How frustrating to have had all that work done to no avail.

My DH needs a haircut too. I’ll get DIL to do it at the weekend. It takes her 5 minutes, it looks great and saves him £10.

Have a pleasant day all. ?

mumofmadboys Thu 10-Sept-20 07:53:23

Good morning from Fort William. We have finished the West Highland Way and go home to Cumbria on the train today. Fantastic holiday. Will be glad to do very little walking today! Just getting ready for our last hotel breakfast! Beautiful scenery last 8 days. Love Scotland! Have a good day everyone and thinking of those with worries/ illnesses.

NfkDumpling Thu 10-Sept-20 07:54:43

Morning All

A lovely clear skied morning here in the north of Norfolk.

A pile of ironing awaits as we've just got back from a few days away in our camperbubble. My new phone died on the first day away. A week with virtually no internet! I was bereft!

Urmstongran Thu 10-Sept-20 07:56:57

Welcome back NfD you’ve been missed!
?

Nortsat Thu 10-Sept-20 08:00:49

Good morning Mick and the GM team from a currently sunny east London.

Spending the afternoon in a friend’s garden, so I hope the good weather continues, but I am taking my Mac with me.

It’s our 6th wedding anniversary today. We have been together for 44 years but got married 6 years ago, after I was ill.
Because I have been shielding, we’re not going out for any celebrations, we still feel the need to be very careful. My partner has bought champagne and a friend has made a cake and family have sent cards. So we’ll have a special supper and raise a glass to toast our lives together.

Thinking of Bluesapphire, Dragonfly and of course gilly
Have a good day all and ? for those facing challenges. ?

Grammaretto Thu 10-Sept-20 08:07:58

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Another lovely day here. September is one of my favourite months.
After 2 days of hell (trips to doctor, hospital and nurse) DH is a lot better and well rested (thanks NHS) so we may collect our new battery mower today and give the grass its first and maybe last trim this year! Thanks to advice on here too.
Grannygravy a hole in your sitting room floor sounds drastic. I hope they find the cause and cure quickly.
It reminds me we still have a hole in our ceiling which I must get sorted. The plasterer who came to look said he doesn't do cornices.
Spice your having to relearn to hoover reminds me how many things I rely on others for such as cutting DH's toenails.
Happy to hear you are looking after Henry Susan . He will have fun I'm sure.
Our DGD missed her first class photo due to being taken for a covid test. Another disappointment.
Have a lovely day everyone.

grandMattie Thu 10-Sept-20 08:14:53
