Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark , but its dry and possibly cold outside this morning here in Brackley .
A day of small shop ,and go to the chippy later for lunch , before settling down to watch the Giro .
Its amazing sports wise this cycle tour ends and another one begins in Spain , trying to cram everything in before November and the Winter cycling programme of track and Cyclo cross all before next year .
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from a sunny, but very chilly north of Scotland, only 3 degrees but still “warmer”. Than yesterday. Soup making for the weekend, then making bramble jam. I have picked the brambles over three days so it it going to be a big batch. The tennis will hopefully be exciting this afternoon, because of the qualifiers there are several new faces which is making it very interesting. I shall tidy up in the front garden Because then I shall have several chats over the wall ?. That has always been the case but even more so in these strange times. The cyclists are out in force already and they all wave which is lovely. It is like bank holiday weekend every weekend here still. Best wishes to annsixty today and to all other posters whether posting or looking in.

Good morning all from a sunny Glasgow. You will note our weather update as I follow on from Marydoll.
Welcome to the world of spray painting Marydoll. The only ones I could find in the 80s were car paints which were ok but now there is such a range of paint colours and finishes to transform whatever I want. I bought a spray gun last year for larger projects. ?. A gold finish inside lampshades gives a warm glow ?

First thought of the day is the hope that all goes well for you annsixty I like your positivity that you will be a new woman in a month. You will indeed.
Old I second the wrong poster was punished. It’s a farce!
Haste ye back Maw?

Our tighter lockdown begins tonight for two weeks in an attempt to slow down the rate of spread. No surprise in our area as Glasgow is the largest city with the highest population.
It is what it is and no great inconvenience if it stops more people contracting the virus. ?

I treated myself to a new garden pot yesterday and I’m so pleased with it I think I may need another?

Hope everyone has a pleasant day and best wishes for a better day to those who are coping with troubling times.
Still in my thoughts too gilly, hoping your troubles ease soon.

Morning everyone from an overcast south Cornwall. Have a good op Ann, am so pleased the day has finally come. Can't wait for mine!
Woke to a sad message telling me a good friend has been sectioned and is in our county mental hospital. She is a sensitive soul and I can only think the current situation has affected her badly. sad
Sar, that cake!!! My 4-year-old granddaughter would love it! Still sorting my flat for her 5th birthday party tomorrow, just parents, 3 year old brother and her cousin, but she'll love it anyway. Her mum is bringing all the food so that's simple. They're in the process of moving house hence the party at mine.
I love this group. One day I hope to meet some of you and will happily travel miles to do so. One day.....
The best of days to all of you.

The new pot

Marydoll Fri 09-Oct-20 09:31:54

Pot envy! ?

GrannySomerset Fri 09-Oct-20 09:34:28

What a busy thread this morning! Loved the unicorn cake - so clever and imaginative - and Marydoll’s plans for her can of paint. Nothing so inventive here where, after a bright start, the clouds are massing. Main excitement is a Tesco trip but we enjoyed having friends for coffee yesterday and I realised I need to make much more effort to ask friends in while we are still allowed to.

Like so many I think of Gilly every day and hope we may get some news of her soon even if she doesn’t feel able to post. And greetings to the banned posters who we miss.

Taichinan Fri 09-Oct-20 09:35:14

Good morning. It's another glorious start to the day on the Angus coast. As well as the gardener yesterday, I had two other garden visitors yesterday, which means I am all chatted out! They were all at different times of course to abide by the rules. Then a WhatsApp from DD making sure I wasn't too lonely. Nothing happening today but lots to do and time to read all the posts on here. Have the best day everyone ☺️??

Kalu Fri 09-Oct-20 09:37:35

It would be lovely to meet up with you MellowYellow. Some of us met up in Glasgow in January and enjoyed getting to know one another. It seems a lifetime ago now and such a contrast in lifestyle has happened since then. ?

Borrheid55 Fri 09-Oct-20 09:38:37

Good morning from a very blue skied Kent! Rain forecast this afternoon. Marydoll just imagining you armed with spray paint and knowing where you live - watch out for the boys in blue! You’ll be huckled into the back of one of their vans! I expect to read about it in the local rag! I read it online every week so that I know who has popped their clogs when I then speak to my mother! Lucky to have her still, she’s 88.
Lovely email from Marydoll last night, trying to catch up on 43 years.
I know I’m somewhat new to this forum but I’m already enjoying following everyone’s posts. What interesting things you all get up to - even under these strange times. What will we be reading about if we ever go back to ‘normal’
Stay safe all!

Urmstongran Fri 09-Oct-20 09:42:36

Another sunny day here in Malaga ?
Good morning everyone. I’m late because I’m sharing an iPad with Himself these days and he’s been reading the newspapers on it. He’s making us a coffee right now (good man) so I’ve picked it up.

No messages yet from our Covid warriors. Good.

After breakfast we plan a walk up into Arroyo as I need to buy a few birthday cards. One of our LWW has a birthday next week and there are a couple of others close behind.

We shall probably just sit in the gardens this afternoon before I meet a friend at 8pm for G&T in one bar then stroll down the long road, the Mar y Sol to our favourite Chinese restaurant. We shall sit on the huge terrace - it’s still nice and warm in the evenings.

Right, my coffee has arrived. I shall settle down now to read all your posts. Hope Friday is good to us all. Keep safe everyone that’s the main thing. x

grandMattie Fri 09-Oct-20 09:45:05

Striped ? lightbulbs, Banksydoll? Yum! ???
Suddenly felt very odd earlier, labyrinthitis strikes again. So, a day spent being very careful how I move, waiting for wonky pills to work, ditto paracetamol for attendant, hideous headache...

Kalu Fri 09-Oct-20 09:47:04

Thought you would like it Marydoll. I bought it as a treat to myself as I haven’t been out and about shopping for months now?. Our only local garden centre in this area which you will know?. The restaurant is open and very well organised should you fancy a trip for cake and coffee.

Pittcity Fri 09-Oct-20 09:48:28

Good morning from sunny Colchester.
Just sat down with a cuppa to watch a live stream of DS passing out from initial Navy training. We can't be there nor are they having a proper parade because of Covid but we are very proud all the same.

hollysteers Fri 09-Oct-20 09:48:32

Morning Michael and all, mixed up weather wise on the west coast. Busier than usual here as my bubble daughter and son staying, doing practical things and last night out for a meal with GD too. As we might have tougher restrictions next week, thought we would get that in. My right arm is killing me, no lymph nodes there now and I think I must have been lying awkwardly in the night, or too much use of IPad! As I don’t drink now, a couple of wines affects me and I think gives me cramp.
New kitchen blinds fitted yesterday but I’m not crazy about them. Wish I had gone with my first choice, which was brighter.
All the best to those with troubles.

Kalu Fri 09-Oct-20 09:52:49

It’s rotten when whatever ails us strikes out of the blue grandMattie. Hope your particular wonky pills kick in soon to allow you to carry on with your day?

lovebeigecardigans1955 Fri 09-Oct-20 09:54:04

Morning all from South Notts where the weather isn't really doing anything but I think showers have been forecast. I may visit my sister if she isn't feeling too rough. If she isn't up to it then it'll be another quiet day at home. Haven't read through the thread yet but well, another week has gone by.

Fabulous looking cake Sar looking up to professional standards I'd say, I can just imagine getting my face round that.

Hope all is well with everyone especially those with worries or illness.

EllanVannin Fri 09-Oct-20 09:55:20

Good Morning All x.
Watery looking sun but at least it isn't raining, though not far away I'm sure. Slightly colder but not yet cold enough for heating during the day yet---just a couple of hours in the evening suffices.

I feel for Maw who was unfairly " dismissed " as I too had heard from her prior to her being blanked and couldn't believe the circumstances under which she'd been suspended. I hope GNHQ have second thoughts.

Anyway I think my phone's back on as I did the 1471 earlier and it answered me without the crackles and gobble-de-gook that happened a couple of days ago.
It'll be with trepidation that I'll use it for now as because I've had trouble with it there'll always be that feeling at the back of my mind that it could fizzle again.

I'd managed to fill one charity bag which was collected yesterday though there's much more to do but I thought at the time that if I start dithering in various drawers/cupboards/wardrobe I'll get nothing done as has happened so I just bit the bullet and made a start with the one bag---which weighed a ton grin It gave me the impetus to get cracking with more sorting for another collection.

Nothing special on today but I'll take a chance ringing D later. Usual cod and chips today. Take chicken out of freezer to thaw and cook tomorrow for Sunday. Freezer's full again after my trip to Asda so enough to make meals for a couple of weeks.

My two squirrel friends are now four ! Their antics are really funny---like a Tom and Jerry film, chasing each other, pinching the peanuts and fighting and the cats just look on fascinated. It's alternate entertainment to the TV grin

Hope the day goes well for everyone and for Annsixty whose original post I must have missed. Also to those who are absent for the time being including our Gilly x

Sar, that cake is beautiful--I could just go a chunk of it right now as haven't had the crumpets yet ( what a come-down )smile

Take care everyone and stay safe. xx

grandMattie Fri 09-Oct-20 09:58:11

Thanks, Kalu, the wonky pills usually do work. Depends how bad the attack is, today it’s middling so I am up a bit but wobbly. Other tomes, I’m horizontal all day, other times I catch it early and am fine.

gillgran Fri 09-Oct-20 09:58:24

Good Morning to you all from a bright,(ish) & dry,(for now), Cambs.,

I'm not sleeping well, (never a good sleeper), but a week ago I slipped & fell on a tiled cloakroom floor.sad.
I was shaken up, stiff the next couple of days, a bit bruised, my poor ribs are still very painful, hence the worsened sleep. (sorry to be so down & moaning).!!
I am to have my flu jab this afternoon.

Sending good wishes to you all.

Elizabeth1 Fri 09-Oct-20 10:01:44

That’s me up and showered climbed back into cosyness to rest the offending leg must say it’s so much better today that severe pain has miraculously disappeared thank goodness for that I think I’ll nod off for a few minutes zzzzzzzzz keep well everyone and enjoy the day

Grandmafrench Fri 09-Oct-20 10:05:32

Good Morning everyone on a very warm, but currently overcast day in S of France.

Laughed at ‘Banksydoll’ Nortsat. Of course we all know that Himself is a Bristolian. So, it’s possibly a bit of a stretch in these times for Mary to try to be everywhere (though she certainly tries grin) which leads me to think that she’s decided to open the Glasgow office for Provision of Street ‘Muriels’, as my ancient Great Aunt used to call them! (Keep off ladders and if you’re spraying at night, please wear a coat, Mary ! )

Very very quiet in the study this morning, as DH works on linking phones and tablets etc, to our new security cameras. Very clear pictures and may even allow me to locate the dogs when they magically disappear the very moment I want them indoors in super quick time.

Received a fabulous delivery of tea from Ireland yesterday. In the past we allowed no British visitors over our threshold - unless they had a box of tea for us. We always paid - it was a joke but became a tradition. We also shopped for supplies when we went to the UK. This year? Desperate times, so we order online. Mid-afternoon, DH announced that he had 1 tea bag remaining in his stash! (We drink different types). Half an hour later DHL arrived. Such planning! Such stock control! (Such luck!!! ?)

Sending all good wishes to those missing, unwell, unhappy and to those just soldiering on.
We’re all rooting for you, Ann.
What lovely things you say, Mellow......my feelings exactly about the smashing people on this thread.

Don’t forget you all promised to keep safe.

Hugs, as always, from ????

SusieFlo Fri 09-Oct-20 10:09:20

Good morning. Not posted on here before, seems very friendly though. Banksy made me laugh. Thank you!

Grandmafrench Fri 09-Oct-20 10:16:55

Welcome to you, SusieFlo - don’t forget to add where you are and what the weather’s like. Can’t get friendlier people than on here. We’re totally Grans United! Have a good day!

NannyJan53 Fri 09-Oct-20 10:19:20

A warm welcome from me too SusieFlo This is a lovely thread with lots of warmth and laughter

Georgesgran Fri 09-Oct-20 10:24:55

Good morning from Durham. It’s overcast but looks promising for later.
Obviously we are in lockdown and tighter for us, as DH continues a year long course of chemotherapy. Can’t decide what to do today - pick out the fluff from my belly button, or poke my eyes out with a sharp stick!!
Not allowed to see anyone outside the household anywhere. Looks like our usual walk later, pick up the sycamore leaves from neighbour’s tree which blow into our garden, but not much else.

Hope everyone has the best day today. Stay safe. X
