I hope no-one else has done this or we will get confused- which we all know is very easily done.

Bubbly on the side just in case any one else turns up.

If not, see you tomorrow.

Sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs bite

Thank you for your kind thoughts and wishes Maw, Grannygravy, Nannytopsy and Puzzler.
Looks like DH will not be home for Christmas but he is feeling a bit better so that is good news.
charleygirl you are quite right. He is taking enough to fell a horse but he is on oromorph not oxymorph. I think my brain was a bit addled last night. I think he will agree with you about the lift. Stairs will be out of the question for some time I think.
I am so pleased you have finally dished up something edible for her ladyship’s refined palate. Hopefully the medicine will help her now.
annsixty I am very pleased to hear your DGDs test is negative but understand your worries about her going to work when she’s not well. Hopefully she will have time off over Christmas and take some rest then.
soop still AWOL I see. We will have to ask Santa to sort out your WiFi when he’s passing. ?

Baggs Wed 23-Dec-20 13:52:11

The wifi situation at soop’s is dire. An engineer (they do not seem to be able to engineer a successful internet connection!) will visit again on December 30th! The Soops have had to report the problem again. It sounds to me like utter incompetence on BT's part.

soop is missing her connection with You Lot dreadfully.

Puzzler61 Wed 23-Dec-20 13:54:16

Thanks Baggs and please tell soop she is terribly missed.
BT need to hasten themselves up but I suppose with Christmas in the way now it gives them an excuse to dither.

Charleygirl5 Wed 23-Dec-20 15:57:43

Is there anybody on BT who can fix their problem? They deserve compensation for this especially at this time of year.

Unfortunately, Tara does not realise not taking medicine and she will be dead fairly soon- it is that serious.

The company which supplies Sheba has my undying love and loyalty at present to supply food the little brat will eat. She turns her nose up at smoked salmon, tuna and freshly cooked chicken but almost took a piece of carrot cake off my plate until I gave the minx a few crumbs.

She wolfed down her breakfast so the reward was a day outside.

Doodle thankfully you and DH appear to be relaxed about him still being in at Christmas. At least you have had time to scale down your food buying and he will be well catered for with turkey and trimmings.

Susan56 Wed 23-Dec-20 16:34:45

Oh poor soop, please let her know how much we are all missing her too.

Has anyone heard from Grandmafrench?

TOYA

Puzzler61 Wed 23-Dec-20 16:40:00

No Susan, I hope Grandmafrench ‘s back hasn’t gone again.
If you’re reading, give us a sign please Gr.Fr. ?

Doodle Wed 23-Dec-20 19:16:07

Baggs thank you so much for your message. Please tell soop we miss her loads but that we are taking care of each other as she would want us to.
I wish Tara could understand how much you are trying to care for her Charley. Let’s hope Sheba keeps going down a treat. I might go and buy some for DH. He is hardly eating. Everything is too salty or spicy for him or too sloppy and he can’t eat it with is shaking hands. It was only going to be the two of us for Christmas anyway. I will just cook everything and freeze it so we can have some nice dinners when he comes home.
grandmafrench hope you are ok.
Take care dear kitcheners and keep safe TOYA ?

cornergran Wed 23-Dec-20 22:04:50

I should think soop is levitating by now. Thank you for letting us know baggs, we’re definitely missing soop, love winging it’s way to her and macs.

Well done charley, fingers crossed here that the little madam continues to appreciate and more importantly eat her food.

That’s a shame doodle, although it does sound necessary for your husband to stay put it must be disappointing.

A gold star from me for the NHS. The (private) physio had some concerns yesterday, urged me to seek an x-ray via the GP. Completed the dreaded online form, GP phoned this morning, had a think and said in her view and MRI was needed. Phone call at lunch time with an appointment early January. I’m still in shock! How embarrassed will I be if the outcome is nothing is wrong?

Also wondering about grandmafrench, hope she’s OK.

We’ve decided at the last minute not to mix with family on Friday. Sad about it but also relieved. Will meet one lot for a walk tomorrow and see the others as soon as it works for us all.

Funny old year for sure. I’m delighted your granddaughter s test was negative ann, but goodness, dashing off to work doesn’t sound the most sensible.

Time for bed now. Look after yourselves everyone. TOYA.

All the roads out of my village are flooded tonight and some of the roads in the village too because of run off from the fields and (presumably) inadequate or blocked drains with leaves etc
It got me thinking - we had fires ? ? on the moors in the summer, gales ? ? and worse in the Autumn, the “plague” all year ? ? and now floods. ?☔️?☔️???‍♂️
When can we expect the frogs ? ? ??

GrannyGravy13 Wed 23-Dec-20 22:15:05

Nightie Night .....two more sleeps till Santa ??????

Urmstongran Wed 23-Dec-20 22:34:24

And the locusts Maw!

Just popped in to say ‘goodnight’ all. Earlier this evening I telephoned some dear friends who are having what will be their last Christmas together and their gentle acceptance of events, kind words and fond memories of times we had all shared was very special to me. I was a little emotional afterwards but felt so glad I made the call.

I’d sent a Christmas card last week to them but didn’t feel it was quite enough somehow... I wasn’t sure what I’d say, I was anxious I’d get it wrong but I’m so glad I spoke to them both. We even had a bit of a laugh, reminiscing.

Sending best wishes to all, especially the doodles. Night everyone. I hope you sleep well.

NanaandGrampy Thu 24-Dec-20 09:33:12

Morning all,

I had hoped to hear Soop was back- what a buggeration. Thanks for the update though Baggs send her my good wishes for the season if you speak to her again.

Sorry to hear DH will not be home for Christmas Doodle , lets hope he feels much better soon .

We are facing the same quiet Christmas as many around the country, can't say I'm looking forward to it, but we'll do our best. So sending you all good wishes for a very Merry Christmas and a brighter and safer 2021.

morethan2 Thu 24-Dec-20 10:20:13

I’ve just dropped in to say happy Christmas and thank you all for your support particularly over the last six months. My son and grandchildren are coping as well as they can. They are sad and it’ll be a difficult Christmas and my DiL birthday is early January and the ‘firsts’ are always the worse. Let’s hope for better times in 2021. The photo was taken a few weeks ago, my three with their lovely cousin standing on the wall.

Baggs Thu 24-Dec-20 10:27:55

soop sends Happy Festive Greetings to all her Granspals. Virtual hugs included.

aggie Thu 24-Dec-20 10:32:44

Morning all , I’m up my ears in onions
I hope everyone has as good a Christmas as possible, I can’t say/type any more my eyes are leaking !

Puzzler61 Thu 24-Dec-20 10:38:28

Thank you for being the messenger Baggs, we would all be left wondering otherwise.
Please send my Merry Christmas greeting to the soop’s.
I hope everything else is going well at theirs, despite the breakdown of the internet (mighty frustrating).
Wishing all Kitchen friends a happy Christmas Eve. Special thoughts to you if you are on your own - and to Doodle - your Man will be home soon when he’s well enough and you can have him back all to yourself.
Let’s try and make Christmas Day count as one of the better days in this “annus horribilis” as our dear Queen would say.
(Her Christmas is not what it usually would be either).
Fondest wishes to you all and Thank you for your companionship on GN.

Charleygirl5 Thu 24-Dec-20 10:48:20

Morethan it will be a sad Christmas for them but they have got through it- they have all been to hell and back and some of the memories were not very good. The "children" look happy in that lovely photo.

I have returned from Waitrose- no queues but not a surfeit of food either. I picked up the last bag of frozen sweetcorn. They cannot get stocks in so God knows what will happen after 1st January. Plenty of cereal but few eggs.

My Christmas morning is sorted. Octopus, because I have a smart meter is giving 4 hours of free electricity between 8- 12 midday. I am saving up goodies for my washing machine and dishwasher and I can try out my new vacuum cleaner.

I do not think I will be dining at midday- that is too early so I will have to pay for the oven use early evening.

A good time to try out a new electric heater I bought as a spare! If I overload the system it will be my own fault!
TOYA

And the locusts Maw!

I think the locusts have been round Asda already!

GrannyGravy13 Thu 24-Dec-20 10:59:37

Lovely to see a post from you morethan your GC are growing. Sending you courage and strength to see you and your family through the coming weeks ?

Puzzler61 Thu 24-Dec-20 11:18:17

Lovely photo morethan.
Life won’t ever be the same for any of you, especially the children, but you can and will have each other and have good times together and make special memories. I wish you and your loved ones a peaceful Christmastime ? ?

Galen Thu 24-Dec-20 12:12:36

Maw and a murrain on your cattle.

silverlining48 Thu 24-Dec-20 12:15:48

Yesterday afternoon went fir a quick m and s food shop for bananas, cucumber and carrots, simple things really, but nothing was there and the shelves were bare. I was a bit surprised but things aren’t as they were and can manage without, though my gin/tonic will miss it’s friend the cucumber.
I don’t post a lot but wanted to wish everyone, as happy a Christmas as possible and here’s to a better new year. Cheers and good health to us all.

annsixty Thu 24-Dec-20 12:47:29

My D said that lettuce was missing from her order, she has aWaitrose, Tesco in a BP station and a couple of independents in her village.
Not a leaf to be bought.
I expect it’s all on lorries from Holland.
I hope you are all sitting down and resting, most of your chores done,?, none to do here, so have a lovely if different Christmas.

Baggs Thu 24-Dec-20 13:02:11

I haven't eaten lettuce for aeons (me? exaggerate? as if...). Don't think of it as winter food.

Cabbage though and all cabbage friends and relations, now there's a thing. [no cabbage or even sprout emoji; tut).
