I hope no-one else has done this or we will get confused- which we all know is very easily done.

Bubbly on the side just in case any one else turns up.

If not, see you tomorrow.

Sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs bite

Sorry Doodle, I hope you have better news today and your husband is home for Christmas.
It is so ironic that one second can change things so drastically.

Charleygirl5 Tue 22-Dec-20 11:49:18

Ann you should be seen once by a doctor after your discharge and if all is well he will discharge you.

Hello all, after a few days of not posting. My son is in the annex with partner and arrived before the lockdown but is isolating as a matter of principle having crossed the Scottish border! They are vegetarian so will make their own meals but may pop round with home baking. They will have to shield their eyes when the butcher delivers. My daughter did not make it out before lockdown but we will zoom and all eat together on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, then watch a fil,. I might have to exercise a lot of diplomacy to get an all round agreement on a film. Very diverse viewing taste.
galen I will pm you later if that’s ok?
doodle. What a frustrating time for you both and frustration takes up so much energy just when you need to conserve it.
soop yoohoo! Missing you.
On the side are savoury scones, sun dried tomato with mozzarella and spinach and onion. There are plain ones too. Warm them in the oven first.
Off for a walk and to look at the local decorations.
Have the best day you can in spite of everything.

Well i have just had two deliveries and I am thinking of opening a soup kitchen. I have enough food for the 5 thousand. At least the food shortages in the NY won't affect us!!

Galen Tue 22-Dec-20 13:13:58

Darling daughter’s response tickled me!
‘If you have any scans etc done, can I have copies as I’m teaching about the heart next term!’

mamaa Tue 22-Dec-20 15:13:37

Same here Dragonfly- I have just messaged the local Sally Army to see if they can make use of the surplus-most of it fresh so wont keep and the freezer is full to bursting! Don't like to think of it going to waste when there are people struggling and going without.

BladeAnnie Tue 22-Dec-20 16:49:32

Good evening to all you lovely people. Mr BA is making chilli tonight - double the usual amount if anyone fancies chilli for tea???

Nannytopsy Tue 22-Dec-20 18:48:02

Thanks for the scones Feeling! I like a nice scone with lashings of butter.
Blood tests tomorrow so I am being extra good tonight ?
Can I just say that all my presents are wrapped! No midnight on Christmas Eve for Mrs Smug Topsy!!
Come back to us soop ?
Today I was out shopping and on my journeys down our country lanes, I saw roe deer and rabbits, partridge and pheasants and a hare. A local farmer has planted lots of oak saplings. All is well!

Doodle Tue 22-Dec-20 19:34:54

charleygirl I am not counting my chickens that DH will be home for Christmas but if he is I will certainly want to make sure we have a backup plan. You are quite right.
ann I’m so sorry about your DGD. Hope her throat improves soon. Thanks for asking after DH.
Hope everyone is ok.
Take care and keep safe all. Come back soon soop

Jaxjacky Tue 22-Dec-20 20:11:59

Good evening all, as I’m not a baker I bring locally made fudge, mind your teeth.
Oh Doodle I have all my appendages crossed for you ??and Mr D.
Not much to report, just feeling very grateful this evening and continuously in awe of all the local community effort happening locally, makes me feel humble. I remember as a teenager, with my Mum and Dad helping the local Lions club put together Christmas hampers for the elderly and less fortunate. Anyway, I’m preparing to watch All creatures great and small at 9, one of the few festive TV offerings I’ve looked forward to. I’m still to meet the very much missed Soop.

Charleygirl5 Tue 22-Dec-20 22:36:41

soop your withdrawal symptoms will be so severe now that you will need counselling. I do hope the waiting list is not too long. Seriously, it is getting ridiculous the amount of time you have had to wait for help.

oh dear Doodle I see both sides. You would have mega problems coping even for one day and it would be hell for Mr D if he is allowed out for one day only. Not much of a Christmas for either of you but you are sensible- the staff must sort out his pain relief. What is he on now- is it Tramadol? I personally found it useless but others think it is marvellous. Try to sleep tonight.

No results for my GD yet.
Work are stressing her texting and phoning, I have had to impress on her that she is sick and to ignore them, not easy.
We have no special food in but can raid the freezer and will manage.
In 83 years I have known such times and yet we are the lucky ones.
Not alone, a warm house, food and drink (lots of drink, though my GD does not want any) and we will be ok.
I hope everyone will manage in these very difficult times.

MawBe Tue 22-Dec-20 22:45:33

OK that’s my Christmas cancelled - DGS (10) has had a positive test result but TG is asymptomatic. That’s what matters- that they all keep well ??
So Hattie and I will be on our own. C’est la vie.

annsixty Tue 22-Dec-20 22:45:50

Should have said never known such times.

annsixty Tue 22-Dec-20 22:51:39

Oh so sorry Maw my post just before yours was not very helpful.
We must just write this year off as so many will have to.

Doodle Tue 22-Dec-20 23:04:40

Charley tramadol 100 mg plus paracetamol plus oxymorph every 2 hours plus lidocaine patches. I’m surprised he’s awake to be honest. No neither of us want him to come home until he is able to be looked after here. We will just have to wait till he is deemed to be able to manage. Thanks for the kind thoughts.
How is her ladyship tonight. Any movement on the cuisine front?
JaxJacky many thanks.
ann so sorry about your DGD. That is very inconsiderate of her bosses to put such pressure on her at this time. Hope she feels better soon.
Maw I’m so sorry. You must be so disappointed. You are right though, as long as the family remains well. We have decided as a family we will celebrate Christmas when all this lockdown stuff is over. In the meantime we are all staying at home alone.

Nannytopsy Wed 23-Dec-20 04:07:22

Doodle, Maw & Ann, I am sorry that you each have such disappointments. Thank goodness your DGS is asymptotic Maw. Ann it seems no time since the last awful throat infection. Doodle it’s so hard to see a loved one in such pain.
Thinking of Galen tonight.
Why am I awake at 4am?!

MawBe Wed 23-Dec-20 04:48:46

Annsixty and Doodle I am so sorry, I had not read back and am sending you gentle hugs along with all who are facing similar trials - honestly all we want is for our nearest and dearest to be well and pain free but “events” such as Christmas highlight everything so much more. I think what I am aware of is that feeling of helplessness, that things are spiralling out of control and “normality” is little more than a memory - or an alternative reality.
As you say Ann a year to be written off!
Night night

Puzzler61 Wed 23-Dec-20 09:42:02

It’s not easy to find the right comforting words for you Doodle, ann , Maw and soop but feeling sorry for all your struggles and disappointment when this should be a season to be joyful. Thinking of you all , and wishing better times for you very soon. X

Puzzler61 Wed 23-Dec-20 09:45:30

Also we seem to have lost contact with Grandmafrench again - sending her best wishes ? and I’m really hoping she is just busy and will pop in soon. We all appreciate her kind and wise words.

GrannyGravy13 Wed 23-Dec-20 09:58:13

Sending Ann, Doodle and Maw a big virtual (((hug)))

Like everyone I do hope 2021 is better as I have had enough of 2020 ??

Charleygirl5 Wed 23-Dec-20 10:19:19

Doodle he is receiving enough to floor a horse! No way could he come home if the pain is that level. The lift will definitely be a better option next time and he will have to walk further if he goes outside rather than use stairs for exercise. A good idea but not workable for your DH.

The staff here has come up trumps because Tara has wolfed down three meals- all Sheba. So that is the medicine down the hatch. She has left the country so will not be around to receive her 3 packs of litter tray liners! The type I want, with drawstring attachment, are not readily available except in Morrisons. My local is beside a large roundabout and the car parking is limited.

Good morning all.
My GD’s result, negative as expected, came through at 6:20am.
The foolish girl then got ready and went to work, nothing I said would keep here.
The pressure on young people in some types of employment is dreadful.
I just hope she is ok.
I shall worry now all day, so should they when she coughs.

Dark dank day here, I was discharged from physio yesterday, although I have never seen anyone, she goes by what I tell her I can now do, I am very truthful.
I see the Surgeon on Jan 21st, all done and dusted then.

I am so sorry for everyone else whose plans are changed or on hold.
My D who is in tier 2 had heard that they will go into tier 4 on Boxing Day.
They are surrounded by it now.

I suspect we will all be there by NY.

If soop is getting any messages I send my very best wishes to them both for a happy and peaceful Christmas.

Puzzler61 Wed 23-Dec-20 11:51:36

Good news about your GD annsixty, a big relief but she must still take care if she has a nasty cough.

LauraNorder Wed 23-Dec-20 12:59:11

Oh Maw and Doodle, disappointing and quiet Christmas for you both. Hope Mr Doodle is more comfortable by now.
Good news for you Ann, you can put that worry away now.
Sounds as though Tara dined in style Charleygirl, must be a relief for you.
Hope us newbies get to meet soop before long.
