Hello Everyone smile
New thread here.
Thank you all so very much for your company on the first thread.
I'm looking forward to our half asleep, woozy 2am chats moonbrew

Hope you are better Rufus. We say hossie in our part, is that the same where you are ?
Lovely Autumn day today, just perfect around 26 C.

Kim19 Sun 04-Apr-21 04:00:57

Happy Easter everyone! Hope we all have at least a little bit of sunshine in our lives whether actual or simply of the heart.

FannyCornforth Sat 03-Apr-21 14:52:47

Hello Rufus - I'm glad that you are okay after your spell in hospital
Is there an Aussie slang word for hospital? ?

Rufus2 Sat 03-Apr-21 14:12:37

I must say FannyCornflower has a lovely ring to it).

Who does it toll for!? Probably not me! grin

FannyCornforth Sat 03-Apr-21 09:05:45

Hello mancgirl!
Things went a bit quiet on this thread, and then I had a bit of a break from GN, but I'll try to keep things afloat on here again.
It sometimes gets a bit weird and disjointed due to the nature of the posts, but I try to hold it together!
Are you currently in Manchester?

mancgirl Sat 03-Apr-21 08:21:36

Wondered where everyone was. I posted on another thread yesterday re night owls. I'll look for the original one next time!

FannyCornforth Sat 03-Apr-21 04:00:45

Thank you for the flower and the kind message ixion. smile
No problem at all, I'm sorry, I didn't mean any offence. I was trying to be tongue in cheek. It doesn't always travel well does it, if you know what I mean.
Yes, I'm okay thank you, nothing much has changed at chez Cornforth.
(Autocorrect wanted to do Cornflower - I must say FannyCornflower has a lovely ring to it).
Ixion, what's the story behind your username? It's definitely one of the more intriguing ones.
A big wave and Hello to any Owls currently on the swoop ?
Current listen: Jim Davis on 5live
Current drink: fizzy water (boring)

ixion Fri 02-Apr-21 19:31:48

The best FannyCornforth?
As one of your more ardent followers, I simply opened a thread enquiring as to the whereabouts of the Owls, whose nightly presence seemed sadly lacking.
Lovely to have you back at the helm, hope all is well? ?

FannyCornforth Fri 02-Apr-21 18:50:15

Hello!
Here it is, the original and the best night time thread
I'll be around in the early hours if you need a chat x

Hi Coolgran65 It’s good you’ve got a machine that helps with your breathing. Most primaries in England reopened yesterday, but your DGC are not back till after Easter. Where are you?
I hope you are snoozing again now, or enjoying your Kindle. What’s your current book?
I was reading on mine just now when my sister messaged me to remind me about her MRI scan today.
Then I thought I’d catch up on GN.

Coolgran65 Thu 11-Mar-21 05:59:55

Hi night owls. Just wakened following a wee nudge from my dh.
I’m a poor sleeper and had actually got 4 hours before being wakened which is really good and unusual for me. I have sleep apnea and use a Cpap machine. The nudge means I’d gone onto my back and when that happens my mask leaks and makes a gushing air noise.
Unfortunately no chance of sleeping late (but happily) our dgs age 10 is coming this morning. His online lesson of several hours today requires an adult present for assistance and mum and dad are both working today. His elder sister could probably do it but it’s not fair on her because she has her own on line lessons to be getting on with and she is so diligent. They’re not back to normal school until after Easter. It will be fish finger sandwiches for lunch. ?

Back to bed now to read and hope I fall asleep again. If not I’ll get a few more chapters of my book. Thank goodness for Kindle as i usually read about 3 books each week.
The birds are singing in our apple trees.

Funny you should say that about owls, Rufus. I just assume that everyone is now managing to sleep better. Good stuff! I'm usually awake a fair bit of the time but I just dip in here occasionally to see who's around then I move into catch up on telly and I drift in and out of a shallower sleep so it's all good with me. Had the joy of an unexpected visit from one of my sons. Haven't seen him since Christmas Day. Still revelling in the afterglow. Nice........

Rufus2 Wed 10-Mar-21 11:55:10

I omitted to put my rubbish bin out
Kim It's easily done!
Just a friendly reminder that it's Thursday again tomorrow, so it's probably high time it went out, especially if you had sea-food last week!. grin
Btw; what's happened to all the owlets? I call in now and again looking for a chat, but all are asleep!
Cheers
Good Health

Kim19 Fri 05-Mar-21 05:36:06

Have this funny practice of assesssing my day by best and worst events just before I go to sleep. Yesterday's worst was that I omitted to put my rubbish bin out. Not full but I do like being shot of the contents. Best was a couple of unexpected callls from son. One to say he had just had his Covid jab. Yippee! Off to do a little catch up telly now. Light stuff and nothing that requires too much thought will fit the bill nicely.

Mollygo Thu 04-Mar-21 09:54:02

N8 one Oz friend always sends me pictures of her beautiful garden and the lovely coast where she walks. A bit like Kim says, our image of Australia is sun, sea and sand.
Here this morning it’s fine and sunny, though the temp is only 4 degrees so we’ll be well wrapped up on our walk.
Thank heavens I proof read my post and found that it had substituted CIAs for coast! ?? autocorrect!

Kim19 Thu 04-Mar-21 09:46:44

Hello N8! It's 0945 here and my look through the window suggests that our weather is looking somewhat like yours apart from your lovely temperature. Furthermore we're hopefully on the brink of a lovely Spring here?!! Always great to hear factual stuff as I can paint a more accurate picture of what's going on in your area of our planet. General concept is all full sunshine, surfing and barbecues. Pretty naive, eh?

nanna8 Thu 04-Mar-21 05:17:45

Hello everyone. No idea what time it is but it is 4.20 pm in the afternoon here. What a miserable Summer we have had. Overcast and a bit gloomy but so dry all my plants need watering. Droop city out there.

FannyCornforth Thu 04-Mar-21 04:29:25

Kim I can't believe that you really were an owl and never mentioned it before! How lovely to hear from one of your pack. I wonder what it's about?

Kim19 Thu 04-Mar-21 03:41:11

Hello owls! Had an unexpected text from a young lady I used to know when she was in my Brownie Pack. Yes, I really was an owl then and a brown one at that. She was seeeking permission to call me for a chat this coming Saturday. I've no idea how she acquired my mobile number but can only guess she has stumbled across one of my cousins on life's pathway. Funny old world but.....sometimes a weirdly small one.

FannyCornforth Wed 03-Mar-21 04:53:14

Well done Kim with your ceiling.
I know that you were worried about it, and then it goes and falls in on you.
You are certainly a very industrious lady. You put us to shame!

FannyCornforth Wed 03-Mar-21 04:50:15

Hello! I'm here, but not got a great deal to say for myself for once.
Thank you for your kind comments Molly and Nadateturbe. Thank goodness, DH is much better now. He had the most awful reaction to the vaccine.
Cornergran I hope that you had a lovely anniversary. It's so difficult to think of lock down treats. It must be fantastic to live near to the coast. I'm very envious. I live the furthest away from the sea as you can be in the UK.
And the nearest seaside is Skegness envy - most certainly not envy
Apologies (and sympathy) to anyone in Skegness! smile

Kim19 Wed 03-Mar-21 04:27:53

Caught up with telly stuff so thought I'd have a dip in here lest anyone is around. Always think it's a good sign that sleep is king when little activity here. I had plasterers in yesterday to replace part of my ceiling which inconsiderately dropped in on me on Sunday. Pretty messy and expensive to boot. However, happy ending is the best kind.

Mollygo Mon 01-Mar-21 23:38:55

I hope your paracetamol have worked nadateturrbe and that you’re safely asleep.
Fanny I hope today has been better for you and your husband. Perhaps you’ve had time to start making plans for getting help.
I’ve been in bed awhile now because DH wanted to watch Th Matrix and I find it rather disturbing. I was listening to an audiobook, hoping it would make me drop off, but it didn’t. Now I’m eating a banana I’m drinking a cup of tea and hoping it will have the desired effect.

nadateturbe Mon 01-Mar-21 23:26:23

Good evening folks. I thought I would pop in early as I have taken a paracetamol so will probably sleep.
Just wanted to say thanks Kim and Mollygo for comments on talking to grandchildren and advice. (Mine are 10 and 6 years old )

Hope you all have a good night's sleep..
Fannycornforth I hope you and your husband are both ok and that you have made some progress today.

Mollygo Mon 01-Mar-21 06:40:09

I hope your wedding anniversary plans go well cornergran. It’s perhaps excitement that’s got you awake so early.
Family FaceTime calls are mostly from my daughters.
The GC (ages between 10-20) save theirs for when they’ve something exciting to say though they will come on screen if we ask for them. A bit like you say Kim, it’s easier if we have something specific to ask or talk about.
Yesterday, our eldest GC called so I could see the dog she is dog-sitting. I expect my youngest will FT later on this morning to tell me about her high school place as the notices go out today.
Hope you all managed at least some sleep.
