Has anyone got a different perspective after watching last evenings interview?
I am be really interested to hear if any of you feel more or less pro the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

trisher, surely anyone in a mixed marriage would wonder about the baby's skin - "will it look like me or will it look like you" are questions we all ask when we're expecting a baby.

Didn’t watch as I have too much respect for Our Queen.
We must remember that Meghan was an actress of sorts or so I am told?

Urmstongran Tue 09-Mar-21 11:06:38

“As an example, she disclosed that it was Kate, her sister-in-law, who had made Meghan cry before her wedding, not the other way round, as was widely reported.

‘My grandmother and I have a really good relationship,’ enthused an oblivious Harry. (Not any more, sonny)

“I don’t say that to be disparaging [of course not!]. I don’t think it’s fair to go into the details [which I sort of just did] because Kate apologised and I’ve forgiven her.” Ouch. That forgiveness may not be mutual.”

Pure gold from Allison Pearson!

Anniebach I agree with you. I think that politics was always her agenda.

I also think that the Queen, being the wise woman that she is, gave them enough rope to hang themselves.

I think less of Harry than I did. The things that were discussed (and I only saw ten minutes last night but have seen many clips) I can’t understand why these grievances weren’t discussed and sorted out within the family. If Harry and Meghan still wanted to leave then, they should have understood that their funding would stop after a period of time, to allow them to get settled.
It’s very sad for the families on both sides.

I watched the interview and my opinion of them is now lower. Meghan mentioned a conversation about the skin tone of their child which was spoken to Harry, not her. I get the feeling Harry didn't want it mentioned and tried to downplay it. Most parents wonder what eye colour, hair etc their children will have. Doesn't mean its derogatory.

Harry said he was trapped? Really? Before Meghan he seemed ok with his Army career and causes. And now his brother and father are trapped! So his new life must be the good life?

I wonder if Harry is feeling regretful? Meghan seemed to hold his hand throughout and stare at him. I feel she is controlling him.

Smileless2012 Tue 09-Mar-21 11:08:42

I bet he is too.

Just underlined what I already thought. The US is welcome to them. This is my final comment on them. I won't be replying to any further discussions on them. Bored with it all.

Smileless2012 Tue 09-Mar-21 11:10:24

That was in response to the post about M being a real whinge bag to live with.

Coco51 Tue 09-Mar-21 11:12:34

It’s not. She said it was the the two of them with AB Canterbury it’s to legal because there were no witnesses. I have to gasp at the ignorance - but then so many Americans have no idea about the world beyond their noses

Matelda Tue 09-Mar-21 11:13:52

My thoughts are with the Commonwealth, where the Queen is Sovereign of fifteen countries, many of them small and with not predominately white populations. Our Royal family is their Royal family too.

MissAdventure Tue 09-Mar-21 11:14:02

I find them quite likeable.
I think she is beautiful to look at.
I didn't watch more than a minute or two of the interview, but I doubt it would have changed my opinion, as I really can't understand what they have done that is so bad.

MerylStreep Tue 09-Mar-21 11:15:48

I knew she was a wrong ‘un from day one. And so it has come to pass.
She should remember that if your going to tell a lie you have to have a good memory.
She said that she’d never googled Harry. Some years ago she said that she had.

Coco51 Tue 09-Mar-21 11:16:29

It’s called wanting to have your cake and eat it

Forsythia Tue 09-Mar-21 11:21:10

My opinion has not changed overall. What struck me was how convincing she was for the most part and for him how thick and bitter he was and unable to string a sentence together. She is definitely the stronger partner. I do think there is a hidden agenda here. I’d like to know what Hillary Clinton is jumping in for. I also noticed when she thought the cameras had stopped how she burst into hysterical laughter after posing as sad and miserable for two hours.
In our family, the younger ones have sympathy for her. The older ones, who’ve seen a bit of life, not so much.

Spice101 Tue 09-Mar-21 11:21:12

Regardless of the circumstances of the whole saga, I find it totally unacceptable for anyone to publically trash their family, particularly on a forum such as tv. This is the family, through which being a member of Harry, and even Megan, has been afforded and accepted a life of extraordinary privileges and opportunities. If he and his wife want out then so be it but they should be ashamed of themselves doing such an interview. It shows a total lack of respect for virtually everyone in the family and in fact for the monarchy when it is exactly respect that they are complaining about not getting themselves.

maddyone Tue 09-Mar-21 11:21:22

trisher
Have you actually travelled to Mississippi, Louisiana, Tennessee or any of the southern states? I have, and you are absolutely wrong. White privilege is massive there, and I’ve seen it with my own eyes. You cannot claim that Americans are more aware of racial bias when you clearly don’t know. What do you think the BLM was all about?

DillytheGardener Tue 09-Mar-21 11:23:52

The remarks about the baby’s skin tone are important as family hold wealth and power and are the head of the commonwealth. The royals have a long history of racism, Princess Micheal wore a blackamoor brooch to meet the Duchess and Prince Philip’s racist opinions in his own words are well documented. The commonwealth countries must be watching this with great interest. I’m a fan of the Queen and cried my eyes out when Dianna died and went and paid my respects, and had almost accepted Charles and Dianna, but watching history repeat itself, I’m thinking that the monarchy should end when the Queen dies.

DillytheGardener Tue 09-Mar-21 11:24:51

Apologies I meant had almost accepted Charles and Camilla as a royal couple

Craftycat Tue 09-Mar-21 11:29:30

No - not at all. I fact I think even less of them than I did before. A self centred young woman & a spoilt young man. I think it was a appalling thing to do this at a time when the Queen has enough on her plate worrying about Prince Phillip.
I hope they stay in Canada or America & cannot draw any funds from UK.
I must confess I thought better of Harry.
It's a pity they are not more like his lovely brother & his delightful wife.

Cuckooz Tue 09-Mar-21 11:30:07

If the RF were racist why did they allow Meghan into the family? Surely they wouldn’t have allowed Harry to marry Meghan. It’s weird how the race card is always pulled when people don’t get their own way. The only racists are those that pull that card!

Woodmouse Tue 09-Mar-21 11:32:11

I'm really not sure how I feel about them as I am not a fan of the RF anyway. However, I do not believe that what was said about the colour of the new baby's skin came from a racist stance. I think it was more "someone" wondering if he'd have a dark or light skin tone - much like you might wonder about the colour of a baby's hair or eyes. I think it is incredibly unfair to leave so many members of the RF under suspicion. Essentially, as I have said before, why don't they just disappear from the media spotlight, live in another part of the USA? They have more than enough money to set them up for the rest of their life.

Ellianne Tue 09-Mar-21 11:33:11

Exactly Spice that is how I feel.
And two King Lear quotes sprung to my mind ...
The one about empty vessels reverbing the hollowest
And how sharper than a serpent's tooth to have an ungrateful child.
Obviously this is a timeless problem, but to go public all over the world about family is pure nastiness.

Anniebach Tue 09-Mar-21 11:34:14

Did Diana feed resentment into Harry, he seems very bitter towards his brother and she did harp on about him being ‘the spare’ and she felt sorry for him.

Please, please no interviews with the ghastly butler

Lesley60 Tue 09-Mar-21 11:35:28

I like the Royal family even less than I did before, and it was blatantly obvious that they wanted the best of both worlds
Moaning about Archie not having a title or security which I’m assuming we pay for, but also wanted to be in the background and not having to do anything for it, Harry even moaned about his father cutting off his money, doesn’t he have enough millions to play with poor couple
