Trunks and panties make me cringe

All of the words I was brought up to regard as rude or obscene still make me shudder, including belly, which we were never allowed to use.

Coy euphemisms for the toilet ´, including the word "loo", baby talk employed between grown-ups or by a grown-up to a child over the age of three, "passed away, or went away" instead of "died" "fur babies" after all "pets" is bad enough, and probably even more.

I am not madly keen about the use of "gay" instead of "homosexual" either.

Another vote for “all the trimmings”. As a crafter and handsewer this gives me a mental picture of a turkey festooned with ribbons, lace, braid and fancy buttons

My daughter’s partner cannot stand the word ‘moist’. If you use it to describe a cake, for instance, it would quite put him off!

The word to describe the noise that comes out of your bum, it starts with F. I can’t bear it, never said in our house. My friends know how I hate it.

'fart' - I think this is awful. I also don't like anyone calling me "dear". Posh, this is another one - yes - what exactly does this mean as it is totally misused. Is the opposite 'common'? So if I say someone is posh (which I don't) does that mean I am common? I heard the word 'posh' being used to describe people with more money, a bigger house, a different accent, a better car, nicer clothes etc etc!!!

I also dislike the Lounge when people are talking about their homes. Airports have lounges, pubs have lounges, houses have sitting rooms.

Oh no, one of my very favourite words, Lady Pusillaminous is a phrase I often use to describe some people and I can 'see' Richard Burton saying it, what is called a double whammy.

I loathe the americanisms too...train station...gotten...too much American television ?

'Gotten' is old English as are many of the Americanisms people deplore, it's stayed in our English only in forgotten, begotten.

Haha I've just looked through a lot of these words/terms that people hate, and all I could think was "Can you imagine what it would be like if we were all to meet up at the same time?" Either nobody would dare to say anything, or everybody would be grinding their teeth at all the words they hate being used

Yes, gonna is horrible. More hates....fave, tuh (instead of to) and most of those mentioned above. I don’t ever say panties, I call them knickers, whatever style.
I don’t like americanisms when there’s a perfectly good English word/phrase.
I’m of the pedant tendency when it comes to grammar and language so you’ll often find me growling at the radio.
