Words that make you shudder

'of' being used instead of 'have' - grrrr .

Irregardless (I know it's not even a word)

Lucked out ( as I don't know if people are using in the English understanding, as in being "out of luck", or the American as in being lucky.

Gotten

Passed - passed away is acceptable in my view.

Gusset - makes me shudder.

More than hating any of the words on here, I cringe when I hear people talking with a rising sibilant. I heard someone who was in their sixties using it the other day!

Words that make you tremble ??

"Your dinner's in the frig!"

Along with moist, the other word that always makes me shudder is discharge. YUK!!!

Cops for police. Our local newspaper has taken to using this - makes me think of children playing cops and robbers, so harder to take the news seriously.

And this one I heard on the BBC radio new this morning:

Panties, TV, belly and bitch. I prefer to say sew instead of stitch because of the 'stitch and bitch' phrase.

Invites instead if invitations: to invite is a verb, invitations the noun. Have been known to correct speakers on television..

Really irritating, "have you had your invite?" Is just plain WRONG.

Haitch yes!!! I hate it too. You don’t call Y a Yiy so why Aitch Haitch.

Horrible! But some otherwise normal people I know use it and don't seem to be aware how uncouth it is...

The lazy missing out of the letter "t" in words. e.g "My name is Pa'erson, with two ts"

‘Loose’, instead of ‘lose’ seems to be very popular, though I can’t think why.

People who use the word amount instead of number!

Hack. Seems to be a very recent change to the use of the word - to me it suggests chopping something up savagely!
Something pronounced as somethink.
