Words that make you shudder

I don’t know about words that make you shudder, but I used to teach a girl who became hysterical with laughter if she heard the word sachet. Also a boy who couldn’t bear the word cheese, which was quite difficult sometimes in our Food Technology lessons. You can imagine what the other children in the class enjoyed doing.

Phlegm. Describes it in all its glory!

Panties. Drives me nuts. Can't understand why Men have 'underpants' but Women have either Panties Or Knickers..... !!! I've now claimed the word underpants for myself.....

Pants for both. Agree ‘panties’ and ‘knicks’ does make me cringe!

Like, like, like every second word in a conversation. You know (no I don't know) American word for knickers- panties, Babes, Hon, jab instead of jag (never been jagged by a jabby plant) and the C word.

Cos people would talk if we wore knickers, especially the frilly variety!

All of the above, plus craw (as in: sticks in my.....), kids (what happened to all the children?), gob, f word used as an adjective, verb and noun, stool, faeces, anything that makes me cringe.

Hubby, hollibobs (dear lord!), fur-babies, rainbow bridge. Passed away (or even worse, passed) instead of died.

My DD is another moist hater, along with Miranda Hart in her sit com. I hate the word phlegm. Made worse by the fact that my DH is always very phlegmy!

"Can I get" instead of "Please may I have?" gives me the rage.

I’m never happy with the expression ‘full English’. Everyone uses it, but I’m sure it’s a newish thing. Why did people stop asking for a ‘Full’ breakfast or the ‘works’ , and stating the ‘English’ part of it.
