Our dear friend was killed in a car accident the week before Christmas, his wife and two mutual friends are coming for lunch in the garden tomorrow.

It’s been so hard for our his widow as she has no children or family.
She hasn’t been able to mourn fully due to lockdown and I know we all need to remember our friend together.

The menu is planned, I’m starting the prep today and the weather forecast is fantastic.
I’m really so excited to be sitting in the sun sharing food and wine with dear friends.

I know it will be tinged with sadness but it will make the world feel a bit more normal again.

Its so sad Sago,I hope you have a pleasant time together.I was able to meet my friend(on compassionate grounds as she was struggling with the loss of her son) She was able to pour out her heart and tell me about what happened. It was emotionally very hard and the sadness stayed with me for days.In usual times we would have been there for our friends, involved in practicle helping, hugs at the funeral and to just be on hand for them during their hardest time.Covid has taken so much. This will be a big step for your friend and will do her so much good to be able to talk about everything. The hardest thing is not being able to hug, myself and friend did as I couldn't just sit there while she completely broke down. Its all been so hard.I have met her since, safely, and although there were tears,it wasn't the same as the first visit and we were able to keep the distance.I hope you're friend is doing OK and I'm sure seeing you will help her alot flowers

Your poor friend! I’m sure the rest of you will help her commemorate her DH's life as you share your recollections of happier times. The sunshine will be a blessing to add to the special day you are planning and your friend will appreciate your thoughtfulness.

It’s so lucky that there’s an unseasonably warm day expected for tomorrow so that you can do this for your friend, I hope it brightens a dark time for her.
