Hello again. Poached egg on sourdough and toast + my blackcurrant jam, big pot of fresh coffee and I now feel capable about tackling the rest of the day. I've also calmed down after loosing my novelette earlier on.
Had to sort out the Sainsbury's delivery man first before food. Had a call "Am I heading in the right direction?" He was. I never tire of tell folks all about our isolated existence. It was his first question "What a lovely place. How did you find it?"

It's warmed up here a little so Mya's getting a long walk now. Her limp's gone. I did have a feel around yesterday - from paw to the top of her leg but nothing. It was obviously troubling her as she wasn't using that leg when running.

Hope we get our text for our 2nd pfizer next week. It's 10 weeks since the 1st one.

I'll not attempt my battle with the printer till tonight (before Line of Duty though).

A very late arrival here - DGC were with us until about an hour ago. Just had a restorative cup of coffee and now to tidy up then plant more sweet peas - I let the first lot dry out ?. Aubergine seedlings need pricking out too.

A late good morning. I've been up a good while, but been busy with various things.

It's a brightish but breezy and cold day here in South Yorkshire. I've got some potatoes ready to plant, but as there is still night time frosts expected, I'll leave them another week, then they really must be planted. Let's hope the frost goes away by then.

That was a lovely surprise for you marydoll and I bet you feel a whole lot better for being able to do it. It's amazing how "small" things (they're not so small under present circumstances, really, are they), can make us feel, and boost our well being.

A late good morning to you All from nippy but sunny Wiltshire. Late posting today as I couldn’t seem to get my head in gear to post first thing but I’ve enjoyed reading all your posts. I wish there was a way to jump back a page without loosing what I’m writing so I could comment more on all the lovely news. Marydoll, I’m so glad that you had a jolly out to Tesco’s. I often wonder what it would be like for someone from one of the very deprived countries to suddenly be faced with one of our supermarkets- we’re so lucky to have so much food and choice in their country. I bet your eyes were like this Mary .....?!!!
I loved, loved, loved the golden retriever photos this morning. I used to own probably the BEST goldie in the world! He personality was as golden as his coat - not one nasty bone in his precious body. He was put to sleep as a grand old age in my garden with his head on my lap, listening to The Archers. I adore goldies but I won’t ever have another as Zorro’s boots were too big for any other goldie to fill. I’d always be comparing which would be unfair.
The orphan lambs, all apart from my 3 invalids, moved to a new little paddock behind the house but further away. This is partly for my sanity as, every time I went into the garden and they spotted me, the racket of bleating would start up! They still feel that I should be providing bottle of milk 4 times a day, despite them now being weaned. In the invalid pen back in the barn we have Popeye, whose stitches I took out yesterday, and her 2 pals, Olive and Sweet Pea. Poor Olive has a spinal abscess. I found her flat out in the field a week ago with paralysis in all legs. She has been on antibiotics and inflamatories for a week now and today, with me supporting her hips, managed to walk a few (very wobbly) steps. It’s a long, slow haul for lambs to recover from a spinal abscess but I’ve had success before so we plough on. Sweet Pea was rejected by mum in the field and was very tiny and weak but is thriving now. Once the 3 of them are well enough, they’ll join the other orphans outside but I’ve got a feeling that the 3 little lovelies won’t ever be leaving the farm.......more blooming pets...... my poor DH dispairs of me!
Nobby continues to have a ball in the Water Meadow with his ‘ladies’ whereas poor Bogdon remains much as he has been for the past 10 days. Sometimes I think he’s improving but then at other times he seems much the same. He looks out for me in the yard now as he knows I’ll take him and extra snack or two. He’s a nice old bull - it’s such a shame.
Having done my chores this morning, I’m going to treat myself to an afternoon gardening. I’m still trying to clear the weeds so I can divide and move perennials about but at this rate, I’ll loose the window of opportunity to do this. I also want to put some muck around my roses ..... muck is one thing I’m never short of here! Wishing you all a happy, flamingo-filled Sunday.

Good morning everyone from a sunny bright day on the Angus coast. The day is made brighter by the covering of snow!! I took the grey photo during a blizzard yesterday afternoon, and the other one just now. Can't quite believe that it's still lying!
It's ironic because my main task today is to make a list of all I have to do before a barbecue on Wednesday. There have been barbies in all sorts of weather over the years in the Smiddy garden, but this could be a first in snow in April! DD and her partner and their five teens are coming over for a deferred Easter egg hunt (requested by 15 yo who says she's still only 5 inside ?). I should imagine it will be the last egg hunt, and will be one to remember if these conditions prevail!
I have read only the first couple of posts so far as my body decided it wouldn't sleep until after 3am last night and then took its usual 7 hours, making for a very late start! Late for what, I'm not sure - my conscience I suppose.
Sorry you're missing your cycling today Mick. By the way, I have heard of it but never had it - what's lardy cake? I hate drizzle too Mattie, it's so depressing. At least snow is prettier. Will you miss having to play for services Ash? And there are a few more Philip anecdotes tucked away here, but those were the first to come to mind.

Another lovely sunny and bright start, but that bitterly breeze still persists and spoils it for me being such a cold creature.
A couple who live on the end, which is the full length of the garden here, are up with the lark these fine mornings and sitting in the sun as soon as it rises Nice couple.

Unless there's a warm breeze, I'm muffled up to the hilt.
No use me looking at sleeveless summery clothes without a thick cardigan to match. I'm hopeless.

Phoned D yesterday in between a shift she was working and she was telling me that she had her vax last week, then suffered the trots, so I said never mind you'll be able to see twice as far now. She'd been unsure of getting them but she's off to New York next year to her friend's daughter's wedding and feared she wouldn't be able to travel otherwise.

The gulls are noisy this morning hovering overhead, maybe they think my place is a snack bar with all the cats I feed. They're such big birds when they land on the lawn, but beautiful to look at too. I don't feed them as I wouldn't want them flying over the whirligig !

A couple of my usual big lamb chops from the freezer last night for today so I'll do new pots and brocolli with them, mint jelly will have to do until my mint grows. I think I've got a jam roly-poly in the freezer too for pud. I'll have had my share of suet puds this weekend after yesterdays steak and kidney pud----a bit skinny with the kidney though !

Must get myself dressed then I'll feel more organised.

Love the pics of the dogs, so beautiful and always makes me feel as though I want one having always had them throughout my life, but out of the question with 3 cats. I'll have to enjoy the pictures instead.

Well you certainly got a good dose of the happies, Mary, bet that lifted your spirits. Can’t recall when I visited a really big supermarket but it’s so long ago now that I feel I may have kicked the habit?. I think I could still be tempted.....although 18 hrs 52 mins is possibly a bit of a drive even to admire your lovely new jeans!

I could certainly give those beautiful dogs a cuddle. Beautiful breed and such wonderful, dependable natures. ?

Very happy that a female Jockey won! I’m not a horsey person but that’s only because - in my experience - they have no brakes! I have horsey friends, though, so have socialised and helped out at a couple of Studs and think that they are such magnificent creatures. Walking in a beautiful racehorse from fields to stables, however skittish and spirited, never phased me - I just don’t want to be sitting on one. I quickly learned my limitations!

Yes, where and how is our lovely poster from Malta - the one with the lovely patient dog, the puppy minder, a lover of manicures, with a local DD and one in the US, who was getting a bit worn down with the bluddy pandemic? Yes, her - and I can’t remember the name! Oh the shame! Do hope you’re ok?

Seems like lots are having to be patient for the correct weather - for seeds, planting, transplanting etc. Even here, after being on the beach in T shirts in February, have to say the good temperatures are now avoiding us.

Hope you find everything in good order, Gingster. But bet the trip will do you good, change of scene, different views, then a 2nd jab. Hurrah!

Mick, hope you enjoyed your Lardy cake, but they are not good for your heart. (Sorry, do not mean to moan at you). We used to love it too, and I remember one of our town shows, where a lorry would go around distributing bits of lovely lardy cake.
B9exchange upthread, mentioned that her DD's baby was now in a breech position. Well, take heart, my DS2, was the same, but on the morning of his birth, he suddenly flipped around, and was born quickly with no problems.
Except his size, he was 9 lbs 9 ozs. Whew!
So lovely to have a Marydoll novella this morning, and yes, we did all miss you. ?
I am feeling a bit better, having taken note of the Dr's and I have upped my pain killers. But am frustrated at not being able to do all I used to do so easily. This has all come on so quickly that I am knocked back by my limitations. I like to be a 'doer' and now am more of a watcher.

Good morning all from Derbyshire. Dry and bright again. We didn't get any rain yesterday like some, but hopefully there will be a little today - the gardens need it so much.

Aw Marydoll I'm so glad you had such a nice day yesterday - so uplifting, albeit tiring. A restful day today with a happy smile ? Mr MD wouldn't have fared much better with my choices for the race, but I did get a fourth place and made a small profit.

I made great progress with my seed sowing yesterday.....only to realise afterwards that I had accidentally used tomato compost rather than seed sowing compost ?. Hopefully they will be ok. More sowing to do today - using the right compost this time! This afternoon I will finish putting the onion sets in and possibly some peas too.
