Good Morning Everyone,
Its light with grey cloud overhead , but its dry.
Today , no cycling on TV, due to an event being postponed in northern France due to growth of the pandemic in the country.
Laundry later, did my buses trips yesterday Bicester via Buckingham , got a nice lardy cake from the bakery shop which also has a cafe , which will reopen when rules allow .
Take Care,
Mick

Good Morning Sunday
(68 Posts)Good morning from a brightening E Kent. Wasn’t the endless drizzle horrid yesterday? We needed rain at the moment, not April showers!
Not much happening today. Virtual church, hope DD is preaching. Turkey leg for dinner.
Need to embroider my initials and the date on DGS quilt, as apparently is traditional.
Gardener coming tomorrow to wreck my garden. I’m quite looking forward to that, although DH isn’t. He doesn’t much like change.
Mary, it was nice to know you’re ok. And you sheep? Missed your updates. Everything ok?
I hope today brings sunshine ☀️ And little nuggets of joy. ???????
Good morning to you all from a fine but chilly Torbay,
After an unprepossessing start yesterday, the sun made a welcome appearance by late morning so I made the most of it and walked over the Downs. It was great to share the feeling of anticipation prevalent amongst shopkeepers and restaurants as they prepared to be open on Monday. Some eateries have erected gazebos, for protection for outdoor patrons, with fairy lights for a festive feel. I enjoyed a takeaway coffee as I sat and watched the world go by, including a police helicopter, flying slowly along the coastline for most of the afternoon and well into the evening. With the preponderance of care homes here, there are occasional instances where a resident goes walkabout.
Thank you for the many kind comments about my photographs yesterday, including Taichinan, whose enquiry about the floral arrangement representing The Ascension I am unable to answer, sadly. ? I loved your anecdote about HRH, by the way! No doubt many people have favourite personal recollections of encountering him. My late sister met him when she was in the Rangers at a D of E event on Box Hill in the Sixties and had her picture in the local paper.
Presumably, we shall be honouring his memory at church this morning as I have been asked to play the National Anthem. ??This is the last service for which I’m the accompanist for a while as the MD plans to resume his duties next Sunday after a 17 week absence. ??
Yesterday, my youngest DGS was five and I enjoyed seeing a video of him opening the presents we'd sent and a brief FaceTime call. His hair has become thick and wavy during lockdown but I expect it will soon be chopped! ??♂️
It was a relief to see Marydoll yesterday and I hope sheepandcattle has time to post today! I trust everyone is as well as possible and has a relaxing day of rest. You deserve it! ???
Good Morning everyone from Severnside. It’s dry with a few pink stripes in the sky.
I went to get my wood yesterday. I asked for them to cut me two 7’6” long pieces from the lengths. When I got them home they were nowhere near 7’6” so I screwed on the cut off bits. Anyway I got the job done and my greenhouse has a new pathway. Just as I had got my stuff back inside we had a hailstorm.
I’d seen a cocktail recipe I fancied so after my hard work I thought I deserved one and I didn’t need any rocking last night (not that I do) after drinking that.
I hope you enjoyed your Lardy Mick and have a good day all ?
Good morning from north Surrey. We have had rain in the night, the garden and allotment needed it and will save having to water today.
My eye clinic appointment went well, very efficient, more tests and a scan then seen by dr, all ok and my pressures are back down with the new eye drops so back to yearly appointments. Very relieved.
Didn’t win on the Grand National but was delighted to see it won by a woman jockey for the first time, she is a very talented rider.
Had a long text catch up with a friend yesterday afternoon, we both “semi retired” around the same time as lockdown, can’t wait to be able to meet up with her as we had planned.
Dog walking and some online training is on my agenda for today
Hope Marydoll is ok, didn’t see her post yesterday.
Wishing all a pleasant Sunday, good to see family meet ups happening
Good morning all from a snowy black country. Dont normally post but up early DH going fishing 1st contest of the season. Although think he will sit in the car he's a fine weather fisherman these days, but has to go because he's the secretary and organiser and has all the weighing gear. But as Marydoll would say it gives me an empty ?
Good morning from Shropshire.Wintry showers forecast today after yesterday’s sunshine.
DGD is still here. She is a joy and such good company and really enjoyed a day in the garden helping grandpa. We have booked a seaside break with her in August and she wanted us to start packing!
Nothing planned for today.Am hoping for a relaxing day as we have a busy week ahead.
Hoping Cherry is ok and that Mary had a restful night.
Have a good day all??
Good morning all, a beautiful sunny start in Glasgow, chilly and a blanket of snow covering the garden was quite a surprise, but an unwelcome one.
Any pottering in the garden has been scuppered and another day indoors footering about ahead with a couple of projects to finish and I may even clean some windows!
Have a good day all.
Good morning all from a bright and sunny Welwyn, Herts.
Another week has passed, I don't know how but the days seem to fly by at this time of life.
Have not been out for a few days so hopefully we'll get a good walk in before lunch, which is ready from yesterday, so just needs heating up.
We're all looking forward to the easing of restrictions and a possible visit to the hairdresser, ( I've yet to get an appointment)
Wishing you all a happy, pleasant Sunday.
Good morning, the sun is out here in Leicestershire, just.
Still got a very sore arm from the jab.
Hope you all have a good day.
Morning Mick and all
Blue sky, sunny but cold here in S E Essex.
No plans for today, will read and generally have a lazy Sunday. Roast lamb later (not my favourite)
I haven’t seen our dear friend from Malta posting lately, sending (((hugs))) to all our missing posters ?
Keep safe and well folks ?♀️?
Morning all from a bright but cold North Leicestershire.
Exciting day ahead. DD2 and co are coming for a takeaway lunch in the garden. Hope it's not too cold.
We count ourselves very fortunate that our children all make an effort to come to see us - or should we be worried that they think we need checking up on?
We also have to clear the hall for the carpet to be lifted before the decorators start and we really must choose the wall colour.
Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s a cold with a clear blue sky but with snow on the ground. Hopefully that’ll clear soon and it will start warming up a bit!
It sounds like you had a lovely walk yesterday Ash it’s so good to see signs of things reopening and a bit of normal life returning.
DD2 has to return to work tomorrow so we’re having the DGC for a sleepover tonight as there’s still one more week of the school holidays here. I’m really looking forward to them staying and their bedrooms are all ready!
Hope everyone finds something to enjoy today and take all whatever the day brings ?
Good Morning all from East Staffordshire where it is rather grey out there.
I had a lovely walk along the riverside yesterday, weather was amazing.
Today it is my constitutional walk with DGS and I will be off over there shortly.
I have made some ice cream and soup already today! ( I had an early start!)
I made a cushion yesterday but really struggled with the zip, but got there in the end.
Take care my friends and best wishes to all of you who are struggling today.Marydoll ❤️
Good morning Mick and All
It is a beautiful sunny day here in South Bucks, but very chilly.
My two DGS’s hair has grown at such a rapid rate they look like waifs and strays and unfortunately the eldest seems to revel in having a fringe like the presenter on Strictly. ?
Nothing planned for today other than watching the tennis from Monte Carlo. ?
Hope to hear from you this morning Mary ?
Good morning all from a frosty Harrogate- 0 degrees!!
It was hardly worth going to bed last night so my main plan for today is an after lunch nap, will attend virtual church this morning though.
Had a new ‘toy’ yesterday - a spinning brush - to get to the places I can’t reach
Found it a bit unwieldy to use, but the kitchen is looking better
Mick you talking of Lardy cake - that used to be the local delicacy when we lived in Wokingham in the 1970s. That was when we were young and had two toddlers. Would love to go back to visit, but feel I wouldn’t recognise the town now!
Hope to pop back here to see what everyone has been up to.
Stay safe and have a good day!
Good morning Michael and all GNs. Quite bright in South Yorkshire after all yesterday’s rain, but cold in the North wind. My arm is slightly sore from yesterday’s vaccination but that’s all so far. We are going to watch GS’s team play football this morning for the first time in ages. They are playing a team from the village that we live in but my loyalties won’t be torn?! Not sure what the rest of the day will hold - probably catching up with the Masters tournament for one of us at least!
Have a good day folks.
Morning all from a bright 2.3c south coast. Hoping for some sun today as yesterday was all cloud. We did not see the forecast showers which is a shame as the gardens do need a watering.
I managed to get DH's haircut done at last. It has been on the agenda all week but somehow kept getting pushed back a day. I have my own much-needed hair appointment tomorrow at 9am - the first available one as my lovely hairdresser re-opens.
The work on our replacement garage roof starts tomorrow so may need to wear masks when going outside as it is asbestos. Bit concerned about that.
DGD and her BF are going back to university today. It has been lovely to see them with their optimistic and positive attitudes. Gave us both a real lift after all the health problems and lockdown issues of the last year.
Hope the day is a good one for us all.
Good morning Mick, morning all from sunny South Lanarkshire. There’s a hard frost giving everything a brilliant sparkly covering, it’s so pretty and hopefully means another lovely day ahead.
We have lots of holes ready for filling with plants in our new rockery but I think the alpines will have to spend another night in the garage until this cold spell passes.
Not much happening, I may start another blanket, I have such a stash of yarn needing to be used.
Wishing everyone a peaceful day.
Good morning from a sunny Essex by the sea. I am discombobulated as DH has got up early. He usually stays in bed later than me and I get an hour with my book, nevermind it's not important in the great scheme of life.
He is off to rugby with his grandsons this morning and I shall have an empty for a few hours. I have washing to do and a casserole to prepare for dinner, we don't always fancy a roast.
I had a lovely long chat with DD2 yesterday afternoon and have provisionally made plans to go and stay with them but not til around the 20th May. I have also made plans to go and stay with DD1 but again not til around the 8th June. It is something to look forward to.
Have a pleasant Sunday and find a ?and a flamboyance of ??? xxx
Good morning from a sunny NE where we have a frost again.
No plans for today but any tasks have to be done before lunch as DH has to lie down all afternoon.
Haven't heard from DD for several weeks, she is going to have the roof replaced on her house so she has had to move the furniture and fittings to the floor below. She has a three storey house and the top floor is their bedroom, no attic.
Her two foster cats still fight and can not be in the same room, I think a few children would be less hassle.
Hoping I will be able to have my hair done soon.
Good morning everyone.
The weather is still chilly but we saw some sunshine yesterday. The town shops are gearing up to re open, but the hotels still have scaffolding up as their kick off date is later on. I'm sure those with self catering booked are already here. The lifting of restrictions on a Monday must an annoying start date for them if they've paid for the place from Friday or Saturday.
We went for a river walk after our outing to the farm shop yesterday. I thought I would introduce you to someone who likes to pose! Maybe he could become a model and earn me some money!
Have a good Sunday. I'm enjoying the posts.
Good morning from a bright sunny Essex, but still very nippy. ?. Yesterday was dreary, so it’s nice to see the sun this morning. ?
I will start thinking about what to take to our cottage by the sea. We will travel up tomorrow and stay for a couple of weeks. We have to be back for our second jabs on the 28th. Really looking forward to it as we haven’t been able to go and stay since November.
We watched the Grand National yesterday and didn’t pick the winners but how wonderful to see the lady jockey win. I always watch it with hand over my eyes as I hate to see the horses fall and the jockeys being trampled on. I do wish they wouldn’t use the crops so much too. Apart from that, it is a lovely tradition and seeing those beautiful creatures is a wonderful sight.
I have gammon in the slow cooker for dinner today. Couldn’t face chicken again, as much as we like it.
Sorry you haven’t heard from your DD lately Harrigran . Mother/daughter relationships can be tricky. I’ve had a bit of a falling out with mine but life is too short so I will make the first move and phone/message her today. I never fall out with my sons and have a great relationship with them and their wives but DD and I are too alike. We get on like a house on fire MOST of the time and have a great laugh together but now and again the balloon goes up and we are estranged for a while. I know it saddens us both greatly! ?
It’s my oldest friends birthday today. We started school together and have stayed close ever since. It was our 70ths last year but all our celebrations were put on hold. Perhaps later in the year we can have a few days together along with our other school pal. ?
Best wishes to you all and I hope we hear from MARYDOLL today , telling us all is well ?
???
Good Morning from a brighter N. Bucks.
Will be preparing a cream tea later to take to DD2s garden. DD3 has has a difficult pregnancy and has been sad not to be able to share with family due to restrictions. I am meeting up with all 3 DDs, DD3s Mother in Law and Sister in Law. It is a little surprise for her , she thinks she is just having a cuppa with one sister. Taking plenty of blankets to keep us cosy.
Hope you all find a ?today.
Sunny S Lanarkshire baubles?? Send it this way please, we’re covered with mist here but you’ve given me hope!
I do hope the mist lifts soon because, having bought a particular birthday card some two months ago for a good friend, I forgot to post it in time and plan to drive about 12 miles to her small town and pop it through her letterbox while she’s at church. Brain like a sieve, so annoying.
Other than that and virtual church myself, no real plan. My on-line book club meets a week on Tuesday andI haven’t started reading this month’s selection so I should make a start on that.
Good wishes for a nice Sunday everyone, especially those who, for whatever reason, are struggling a bit ??
