Before covid I wouldn’t go anywhere without foundation mascara lipstick, but now it’s just mascara. And actually I love to feel the fresh air on my face, who would have thought!

It had to be removed before I arrived home, no miscellar wipes in 1977 just spit and fingers and a well used tissue,it was easier to get rid of syphilis than rimmel block mascara.

That made me chuckle, Sago!

After a lifetime of needing war paint to do battle in school(!), I always wear make up to go out but rarely if I’m at home, unless there’s a Zoom meeting.

Always, always, always moisteriser, I have very dry skin. If I am home alone also mascara and blusher, in case I frighten myself by looking in a mirror. I have my eybrows shaped and tinted every sis weeks or so - last done just before lockdown. Eye shadow and and tiny drop of foundation for Zoom committee meetings and going out in public, which means about half a dozen times in the last year.

Lipstick and perfume for me but only when I'm socialising. I'll have to get back into the way of things shortly. Yippee!

This is interesting.
I am female but ... I start with a shave ( I know ) Cheap serum. Moisturiser, cc cream, lip liner and balm.
Sometimes eyeliner, mascara and eyebrow mascara if we are going out ( we can here).

I have a love hate thing with perfume, having worked up close and personal in a hospital setting and been a patient on the other side, I can safely say it’s not always pleasant for others to smell you! So as much as I love mine I’m always very careful.

Yes. I look bad enough even with it on! I’m so pink and shiny without it, people think I have a fever. A little foundation and eye shadow.
My eyebrows and eyelashes are barely there following chemo but I try to hang a bit of mascara on the remaining lashes and pencil in more of an eyebrow. Just a bit.
I imagine most people don’t even notice that I have it on but I feel better for it.

Never wore foundation but otherwise did put on a fairly minimal face to go out of the house. But since lockdown I've barely worn any. Will need to pull my socks up!

Caro57 Mon 12-Apr-21 10:38:05

Not every day as the animals don’t appreciate anything other than food and water!! However if I’m going out definitely and probably far more so than preCovid. Have really enjoyed experimenting during lockdowns

WhiteRabbit57 Mon 12-Apr-21 10:44:58

Always. My grandmother told me to always make the best of myself, wear make up and dress to impress! I miss those elegant days when people looked smart to go out.

I wear makeup if I go out of my home or have visitors. It isn't caked on. Just enough to make the best of myself.

Genevieve489 Mon 12-Apr-21 10:49:20

I admit to being a bit of a makeup junkie, although I've worn very little this past year. I do like to try new makeup - just about to try Il Makiage foundation - and really like the Look Fabulous Forever videos which are very helpful to making up my mature face. Makeup has always made me feel more confident so, I'll definitely continue to use it.

I've never been one for a "face full" so my routine hasn't really altered.
Usual skin care of cleanser and moisturiser, then an SPF.
Makeup is tightline and mascara, lip balm and a touch of blusher.
I only wear more for an event...remember those!!wink

Theoddbird Mon 12-Apr-21 10:56:04

If I ho anywhere I always wear makeup. It is all about caring for yourself and not letting yourself go. I see so many who seem to have given up just because they are older....

Foxyferret Mon 12-Apr-21 10:56:09

Nope, had a receptionists job when I had to wear it everyday. Unless it’s a special occasion like a wedding, I am bare faced and love it.

BlackSheep46 Mon 12-Apr-21 11:00:40

Always use eye make up and do eyebrows or grandchildren complain !! Never foundation and rarely lipstick - who wants to emphasise thinning lips !! Try lip gloss though - that jollies things up with a light touch. Why not wear make up - isn't it designs to make us look brighter ? Who doesn't want to look brighter ?

Aepgirl Mon 12-Apr-21 11:04:39

Never seen without my makeup - nothing heavy but always moisturiser, concealer, eyeshadow, mascara, lipstick. It's all part of my daily routine.

Puzzler61 Mon 12-Apr-21 11:06:10

This morning I have applied a little concealer on dark shadows under my eyes, and tinted lip balm. This is unusual for me (a non makeup user) but this is a sort of Occasion - I’m having a a Hair Cut at midday.
First time in 4 months and I have waited patiently .....

jaylucy Mon 12-Apr-21 11:06:22

I'm another that used to never go out without the full lot - foundation, blusher, eyemake up, mascara, lip gloss. Since lock down, I have worn mascara about 3 times.
While we are wearing masks, little point in wearing foundation imo , but there is a bonus- I have at long last found a moisturiser and a facial oil neither of which either make my face red or make the broken veins on my cheeks worse !

Moggycuddler Mon 12-Apr-21 11:14:00

Not since I was in my 30s. I look after my skin with cleansing and moisturiser. Quite happy for the world to see me in my naked glory!

Carolpaint Mon 12-Apr-21 11:21:45

Full makeup every morning. Keeps pollution off your skin. Would not dream of going out without. Dye your eyebrows monthly and post menopause no plucking. Foundation usually has sun factor in so it protects as well as your moisturizer post cleansing. Never thought my naked glory was much cop.

Before lockdown foundation, eye liner, mascara, lipstick and eyebrow pencil due to permanently loss. Now, and I intend to continue with only eyebrow pencil until tattoos can be redone. Then it will be natural apart from highdays and holidays. Saved a small fortune.

glammanana Mon 12-Apr-21 11:29:05

I don't feel awake with out my tinted moisturizer always with a SF built in and lip gloss with or without a mask it stops my lips drying out anything that makes you feel good about yourself and brightens your day is fine in my book.

greenlady102 Mon 12-Apr-21 11:35:20

never have done, never will do

amazonia Mon 12-Apr-21 11:35:24

I'm very ruddy faced with pale eyelashes so always a touch of foundation and mascara. I look so tired and piggy eyed without it.

micky987 Mon 12-Apr-21 11:38:01

Oh the whole works. Foundation, eyebrow filling, eyeshadow, mascara AND false lashes, highlighter, lip liner, lipstick etc. I’m might sound like a fright but without it I’m very scary looking. With it on I look like Nancy D’Olio but as I get older and my eyesight deteriorates, I’m sure I’ll look just like Barbara Cartland. Can’t wait...

I put on a new dress and make up and did my hair with more attention for a zoom call with my friends at the weekend. My husband was so appreciative and I said I would wear dresses more often. Couldn't be less often as I always wear trousers. He was looking at dresses the next day in the Country Casuals add. in the newspaper and saying that a couple of them would suit me. They are having a change of image and not everything looks 'old lady' anymore. So I just need to get on with making more effort now.
