Will any of you be tempted to go shopping today?

Is there one particular shop you have been missing and can't wait to visit?

I would love to go to Homesense but I've got my grandchildren today so no shopping for me

Hairdresser tomorrow and I can't wait

I agree EV 14 areas have rising infections (Sky news just now). Not that I’m particularly going shopping, I’m an inveterate online shopper and btw car sharing is banned unless on the exempt list, it counts as indoors.

Me neither EllenVannin. The fat lady hasn’t sung yet grin

Dozens of South African variants around and whether the vaccines will work against this nobody knows.

They were on about it on the radio this morning and I did think why on earth have they opened things up when they 'don't know'

No I havent missed shopping at all. Realised how much time I spent in shops. Dont want to go back to that.

Shropshirelass Tue 13-Apr-21 08:02:51

No, not yet. I will wait for the initial madness to calm down.

Hello, GNers.

I'm not a shopper although I love a garden centre a d charity shop browse. I am biding my time with shops.

EllanVannin Mon 12-Apr-21 22:09:13

I'm in no hurry to join the throngs.

easybee
I bought that book online yesterday. Received it today.

I met a friend for lunch and afterwards we just popped into TKMaxx in the out of town retail park. No queueing there either. I got a Kipling bag reduced to £15 for my next whenever it may be holiday!
Previously this morning I walked to my local shops and bought flowers from the florist and a dress from a charity shop. It was lovely to have a buzz around the place again.

I went shopping this afternoon, to Waitrose, the butchers' and the greengrocer, all of which I have visited regularly during lockdown. Then, joy of joys, into the bookshop, where the kind assistant let me buy her reserved copy of Hamnet. They had sold all the other copies this morning but more coming tomorrow .
Double jabbed, masked and sanitised. Very pleasant to be out.

Doing a stint in our charity bookshop tomorrow. Looking forward to that, then on Wednesday, lunch outside the local pub and a quick visit to Black Sheep Wools for some yarn. smile

Not rushing out. I’ll wait until the crowds die down but then might risk a garden centre.
I’ll continue with online grocery shopping for the foreseeable future too, I’ve been shielding for a year so I’m being cautious.

Danma Mon 12-Apr-21 18:12:32

I guess I’ll go eventually but I’ve just got out of the habit

GrammarGrandma Mon 12-Apr-21 18:12:31

I had to go to the pharmacy to pick up some pills and I popped into M & S foodhall on the way back but I wouldn't have gone out otherwise.

Alioop Mon 12-Apr-21 17:52:30

Only place open here to go to is the garden centres and I bet they will be really busy so I will leave trips there for a couple weeks. Hairdressers are hoping 29th, please, please!

Billybob4491 Mon 12-Apr-21 17:52:18

Ealde - would love to know what book you will be collecting from the Library.

Greeneyedgirl Mon 12-Apr-21 17:46:31

So we can go and sit in the hairdressers for perhaps an hour, but can’t have any family over the threshold ?

Cherrytree59 Mon 12-Apr-21 17:46:21

Looking for new sitting room fire
We visted local fire showrooms, all very comfortable.
Masked and hand sanitizered

In all three shops, only one other couple viewing the fires.
Plenty of room to keep our distance .

Only downside was more traffic than we have become used to.
But as we were part of it we really can't complain.

We did pass a barbers and smaller shops with queues of people snaking down the street, causing us and others to step off the pavement on to the road.

Bluecat Mon 12-Apr-21 17:30:19

I am not going shopping until I have had my 2nd jab and given it time to work. I have booked a hair appointment for late May, my first since March last year, and it will be a relief to get my long hair chopped.

But I was trying to think of shops I really want to visit and there just aren't any. I prefer online grocery shopping and I loathe shopping for clothes. I like bookshops but there's only one in our city and I'm not desperate to visit. DH will want to go back to making tedious trips to B&Q but I won't go if I can avoid it.

I have missed my vocation. I could have had a career as a hermit.

Elvis58 Mon 12-Apr-21 17:14:14

I went into town today. Not as busy as l expected. But was lovely to just browse and actually try things on, such a small thing but was a pleasure.l purchased a dress, top and a skirt. No disappoint as with internet shopping and no having to return it,bliss.Followed by a coffee sitting outside in the sun.Near normal, wonderful!

PipandFinn Mon 12-Apr-21 17:04:00

Popped into TKMaxx this afternoon. No queues which surprised me. I bought a couple of pairs of casual shoes and a pair of much needed Adidas Trainers...I have to say I felt a bit flustered with people so close and was glad to leave....!!!!

Fernbergien Mon 12-Apr-21 16:36:01

Sent for blouse on line. Received Saturday. Miles too long. Unwanted. Then discovered it was suddenly half price! So more of a reason to take back to a shop this week. Whether other shops will be included depends on how many people around. Want to feel safe. Had both jabs.

Blossoming Mon 12-Apr-21 16:11:39

No, I’m not going anywhere much until I’ve had my second vaccination. Also there will probably be a lot of people rushing out to the shops, I prefer to wait until it quietens down a little ?

Mauriherb Mon 12-Apr-21 16:04:21

Our M & S has been open all through lockdown so I've been able to buy essentials. I'm looking forward to getting my hair sorted on Wednesday but apart from that I'm in no rush
