Will any of you be tempted to go shopping today?

Is there one particular shop you have been missing and can't wait to visit?

I would love to go to Homesense but I've got my grandchildren today so no shopping for me

Hairdresser tomorrow and I can't wait

My GC are visiting for four days so I’m guessing a toy shop....

Looking forward to visiting Next, Waterstones and John Lewis.
Roll on normal life!

Have no inclination to visit any shop at least until the children are back at school. May visit charity shops then.

The Library is at the top of my list.

I need to go to M & S for new bras but not today.

No I’m not a shopper at the best of times. But am planning to met up with a couple of friends which I’m already finding a bit difficult. The plan was to go for afternoon tea to a country hotel - terrace- but one offered to drive us all there and I’ve had to decline saying that you can’t social distance in a closed car?.

Haven’t heard back? I bet they think I’m being too fussy, but I am not risking a years worth of effort.

I was planning on gardening today, but heavy snow has put a stop on that. I have an appointment to have my hair cut on Wednesday. Weather permitting an al fresco meal with my family at a restaurant in Oxford. Shopping will be on a 'need to do' basis.

WWM2 You are not being fussy. Just being sensible. Not worth throwing it all away for the sake of a car ride.

I’m not a shopper anyway so I shall not be dashing off to any shops.
I would quite like to wander around M & S but will wait a week or two yet.

I completely agree with you - why risk things now? We still have to be careful. Can you drive yourself there? I shalln’t be in a rush to do things we’re now allowed to do. As for the shops, looking forward to shopping again, but wearing a face mask makes my glasses steam up so shopping not a good experience for me.

honeyrose Mon 12-Apr-21 09:28:54

I was just thinking, WWM2, would you be happy to have a lift from your friend if you both wore a mask in the car (or just you wear a mask?), had the car windows open slightly and sanitise your hands after handling the car door
handles? I have been very careful during the various lockdowns, but I think I would feel ok with doing what I just suggested. Just a thought.

Whitewavemark2 Mon 12-Apr-21 09:35:59

Well one of the ladies has had numerous strokes since she retired 3 years ago plus other health issues, so I think she is far too vulnerable to risk. My DH is also vulnerable, and if I’m in someone’s car I can’t dictate can I about windows etc.?

I have suggested going somewhere closer, I would be happy with a picnic with some nice cakes etc. The vulnerable lady can then get her DH to drop her off. I await to hear.

Mind you it has been snowing this morning?

I've already spent a fortune, online and also locally when my washing machine packed up and had to be replaced. Covid went out of the window when I was desperate for a washing machine, it was as though I'd lost an arm, I was beside myself and didn't care at the time as I had to have one.

Redhead56 Mon 12-Apr-21 09:45:31

No way not in a rush but I look forward to going for a browse around TK Maxx.

Witzend Mon 12-Apr-21 09:45:48

I’ve never gone shopping for fun, only when I need something.
I was planning to go to M&S today, to collect an order, but will leave it until tomorrow, when I hope it’ll be marginally less busy.
It was snowing hard here earlier (SW London) -it’s stopped now and is thawing - but I dare say that will have put some of the hordes off.

JaneJudge Mon 12-Apr-21 09:47:43

I take my daughter- who is also vulnerable and lives in a different household- to college. The risk assessment stated we should both wear masks, sanitise hands and open windows slightly to circulate air. She takes her mask off as soon as she gets in the car but I wear mine. I guessed it was safer for me to drive her rather than go in a taxi, as I know what I am doing, I don't necessarily know what a taxi driver is up to and how many people he has in his cab all day.

SO, what I am trying to say is, we all mitigate our own risks and what some people might think OK, others don't. We really shouldn't be judging one another and certainly not our friends.

JaneJudge Mon 12-Apr-21 09:48:08

Btw I am not going anywhere grin

annodomini Mon 12-Apr-21 10:20:13

Not today, but sometime this week I'll drive over to the Lakeland shop to replenish my stock of sachets for my Easiyo yoghourt maker. A catalogue came through the letter box this morning full of products I'd never need but which look tempting. I will have to wear blinkers and make for the item I really need.

Kate1949 Mon 12-Apr-21 10:23:33

No. I hate shopping at the best of times. We are however walking down to our local pub later.

Ealdemodor Mon 12-Apr-21 10:27:16

Oh yes, Billybob - our Library opens tomorrow.
I already have a book to collect which I ordered last October!

BlueSky Mon 12-Apr-21 10:29:50

No.

luluaugust Mon 12-Apr-21 10:34:57

Not this week, hoping to sit in a friend's garden next week weather permitting.

Cabbie21 Mon 12-Apr-21 10:41:26

I don’t enjoy shopping and am certainly not going today, but I do need to get some new bras as I haven’t wanted to buy them online.
I have also decided to treat myself to a new ring and am not sure of the size, so I am looking forward to going out for that. As has been said already, I shall wait till the school holidays are over next week.
