It's a beautiful day. We are blest with good weather. There is a chilly breeze but...we can live with that.

Log off time from Kintyre. I shall return tomorrow. enjoy your evening. smile moon

soop Sat 22-May-21 17:28:46

Yiayia4 When your body wishes you to relax, please pay attention and do just that. flowers

dragonfly I feel your excitement. Youngest son and his partner will be here by this time next week. I have my outfit ready and waiting. Four days of catch-up. Such a treat.

Charleygirl You are right. Rosie won't be amused if Maw goes out on the razzle and returns all frazzled.

Yiayia4 Sat 22-May-21 16:22:15

Looks like we will have a few chubby kitchen ?‍⬛ ?‍⬛.
Not doing a lot today.I have a flare up of joint pain so just relaxing until later when we will be going out for a curry a real novelty.Good news for your son Muse you must be very happy.?
Have a good Saturday evening everyone.

dragonfly46 Sat 22-May-21 16:16:34

I do hope you are recovering from your fall soop - never good to fall in the night!

Great news about your son Muse - why do our DC worry us so?

Happy belated birthday greetings Izabella - you kept that one quiet!

Just been walking with a friend and missed the showers - when will spring spring??
The excitement is building in all camps for our trip down south to see all the family - we have already started laying out clothes on the bed!!

Charleygirl5 Sat 22-May-21 16:02:11

Maw really should not be out of the house for long because heaven knows what Rosie may do if left on her own. Doodle is really not a good influence.

I have had the heating on today- Fern is a lucky lady but she does know that whenever she shows her pretty face food will be served and she can rest her eyes in her cosy apartment.

soop Sat 22-May-21 15:57:34

Urmstongran Little children have an enviable imagination. I can almost sit beside you and join in with her game. It's what we loved doing with Torben when he was wee. smile

soop Sat 22-May-21 15:54:27

anno I could be wrong but, I believe that my eldest son has one such seat. grin

Hellogirl I passed my driving test in a manual. We have only ever had one automatic. The one we have traded in. I shall find a quiet stretch of road on which to familiarise myself.
Your Billy and our Fern have hearty appetites. She has graced us with her presence for just long enough to polish her dish clean. Why is it that we feel honoured?

Doodle Don't go leading our Maw astray. You know how impressionable she is. I shall check that she's in the kitchen tomorrow. Wouldn't want her to spend the night under a table in the snug. One never knows what goes on when the lights go out.

Hellogirl1 Fri 21-May-21 21:15:27

Muse, so pleased to read your son`s good news, good on `im!
Soop, I presume you passed your test in a manual? I ask because my hubby passed his in an automatic, which meant that because he didn`t want to take it again, he had to have automatics for the rest of his life. I hope thatt your lumps are becoming less painful.
On the cat front, Billy is still trying ton convince me that he`s dying of starvation!
I wish someone would tell the weather that it is, supposedly, officially summer in one month`s time.

Doodle Fri 21-May-21 20:45:13

muse I’m almost as pleased for your son as you are. Wonderful news ?
Invitation
All are invited into the Argy tonight for a free drink and a packet of pork scratchings. We would like to welcome Maw back to our merry band and we are going to have the karaoke machine going full blast as we have promised grandmajet that we I’ll sing so loudly she can here us from wherever she it.
Please join in if you would like to, we will make sure you all get home safely even if you imbibe too much ?

Urmstongran Fri 21-May-21 18:49:17

‘Evening All’.

Rain again, pretty much all day too, of biblical proportions! We walked the grandchildren to school in it and then at 3pm walked back in it to pick them up. Ah well, we’re not made of sugar. The 4y old little miss asked if she could use my umbrella. She decided she was Mary Flower Poppins. Her name has to be Flower every make believe game in their playroom. Barbie dolls out, house, car and ‘I’m the mummy grandma and I’m called Flower and you are the big sister ...’. Love how games at this age are so importantly set up before play begins!

Lovely to hear you have your new shiny car soop! Happy travels in it. Our ‘bubble’ was ready for collection an hour ago (typical after all our walking in the rain) but glad it’s firing on all cylinders now raring to go up to Plockton 4 weeks tomorrow. Hopefully the sun will be out by then too!

Fantastic news muse (I’m a poet and don’t know it). You will be on cloud 9 with delight for your son. A real boost to his confidence being offered two jobs!

Right, time to order our takeaway curries. And pour a glass of well deserved wine. Might as well be as wet on the inside as out ...

brook2704 Fri 21-May-21 18:27:14

Well done to your DS muse a choice of two jobs - that’s great!
Your brilliant idea for Dragons Den made me chuckle anno it’s a really good idea ?

annodomini Fri 21-May-21 18:01:07

Went to visit a friend about 7 miles away this afternoon. I never eat biscuits except in her house! By the time I left, the road near her house was flooded in two places because the drains were over-flowing. I was afraid I'd find my garden flooded because this has caused a lake to form at the end of my garden twice in five years. Sigh of relief! Wet but not flooded.
Happy birthday, Izabella - cake always very welcome.
soop, so pleased you have a new car to get you to all those appointments you both have. Hope your bonce is feeling better. It's somehow more disconcerting when you fall in familiar surroundings which you think you know blindfold. Do you think the Dragon's Den panel would approve my idea for a loo seat that lights up when you set foot in the bathroom? I just have to find a manufacturer.

soop Fri 21-May-21 17:44:39

Maw Hey ho! I've done that...backed onto a closed seat. Even did a wee dribble before I could put matters to rights. Oh, the shame. wink

Jax You may be a conundrum but, you are a very lovely lady with it.

Welcome back, Nannytopsy. It's good to hear from you.

Puzzler If I press the sorest lump, it's enough to make me wince. Nowhere near as painful as childbirth, mind. shock

brook we saying just this morning, as we drove into Campbeltown, that the gorse has seldom looked so abundant and beautiful.

Izabella...our resident lady of beautiful expressive posts. Did I miss your birthday? If so, I am sorry. Your birthday cake and chilled wine will be virtually shared and enjoyed. flowers

Thank you for the tip, GrannySomerset. We seem to have reached a satisfactory compromise. We've lived here for seventeen years. I have only just discovered that the pair of lights either side of the cabinet can be used individually and dimmed. Do not express your dismay. I am a daft as a brush. I say so.

Goodnight for now. All of you, do continue to take great care of yourselves. Until we meet again. smile moon

soop Fri 21-May-21 17:27:05

muse I am over the moon for both your son and you. Celebration time. I shall raise a glass of cheer to your son a little later this evening. Wonderful news!

Nannytopsy Fri 21-May-21 16:50:20

Hello everyone. I have been absent as we had a friend visiting so it has taken me ages to catch up. I hope your head is feeling better soop and yes Maw I did that only last week!
Looks like we all have the same weather so I am hemming curtains. A group of us are making new ones for the village hall. One of the gang decided they must be hemmed by hand ,,,

Jaxjacky Fri 21-May-21 16:48:14

Afternoon everyone, no backing in here soop, turn and sit, yes Maw I have encountered the closed lid, tests the old pelvic muscles!
Brilliant news for you muse big weight off your shoulders ?, It’s rained here for about 5 hours, hurtling in with the wind, and it’s getting darker again now. Beautiful baby Hello you scrub up well too ?. Friday is pub night, I’ll stay for a couple then leave Mr J to imbibe further, my days of drinking Fridays are long gone, he’ll get a kebab, I’m having smoked haddock. Had a txt from GP earlier, my sodium is down, again, more bloods, urine sample and appointment to discuss, I’m a
conundrum, but feel fine.
Have a pleasant evening all.

Puzzler61 Fri 21-May-21 16:47:06

Splendid news from your DS muse. It will reinstate his self confidence knowing he is wanted by two Employers!
A huge relief for you ?

Yiayia4 Fri 21-May-21 16:45:09

Delightful pics Hellogirl you are a lovely GGrandma.
It’s so wet and windy I do hope it improves for next weekend. So looking forward to seeing number 3 son and Dil it’s been too long!
Looks like you will be very busy Jax once the rain stops.
Take care everyone enjoy your evening.

Grandmafrench Fri 21-May-21 16:40:18

Did we miss your Birthday, Izabella? Or did you just not give us any warning. Bad girl, if so, but hope you have had a lovely lovely day. ?‍♀️???? Pleased to see you posting and upbeat after suffering demands from both your iron and your computer screen. Obviously working together in an effort to annoy. I know we take all these things for granted, but don't we miss them when they fail us.

Sounds like the wonderful bucolic scene is on form chez Izabella. I so love Thrushes - particularly when they sit at the top of a tall tree, face the sunset and just SING. Beautiful.

Hope 'things' are less painful today, soop. As for your explanation about backing in and planting yourself firmly on the seat....what are you, some sort of truck driver? Did you hear an alarm which beeps to indicate you are going backwards? If not, this could have caused the incident. Coming or going? Whoever knows in the middle of a night. I was going to suggest little skirting board lamps plugged directly into a socket, like GrannySomerset has. I shall now search myself since I only have English ones after all these years. They must have useful ones for the continent, I would hope.
I'm smiling at you waiting to test Mr soop on his knowledge of your new super automobile. Well done to you both and lots of happy outings in a new comfortable motor.

I can imagine your absolute delight, muse. You must be so very pleased and relieved to hear your Son's news - and two job offers? Wow. He should never forget just how employable he is, try hard not to get the glooms and worry his dear Mum. Best to try not to doubt himself and just go for it. I know, easy to say in these taxing times, but perhaps we all need to operate more like that, learn to work at just feeling better, trusting ourselves in decisions and just go for it! And take that time off muse. No idea why it's hard - I suppose we are always "just" needing to do something more important. It's not, of course, our health and sanity is No. 1 at all times.

Have a lovely evening everyone, hugs from French France x

muse Fri 21-May-21 16:36:31

Just managed to get a dry (overhead) walk with Mya. Winds are still strong.

Great news from dear son. A text this morning (2 lines). He's been offered two jobs. One is a 9 month contract. He is so pleased. So am I. I'm beaming for him. Can't wait for him to ring to find out which one he has gone for and all about it. Yippee ??‍♀️.

SiL rang today. She is one of the best listeners. Did wonders for me.

Empty days never happen here☹️. Well, they do, but I have to make them happen. Just ignore the gardening and household tasks and bingo, I can have a jolly. Sort of planned that yesterday and for today but not picked my book up or watched Sewing Bee yet.

Currently waiting for a text or call from the chap that helps us maintain the woods. A 40' birch is leaving the ground?. It stands very close close to our bedroom annex hut. Hope he can get to us with his ropes and chainsaws soon. The gusting has also brought a few dead branches down around the place too.

Also waiting for a call from a garage. Salesman's sent a video of a car I'm interested in. Missed out on one earlier this week.
Can't risk being without a car again, living where we do. He omitted to put the price on the running commentary.

Rain is currently easing as is the wind. Take care everyone. My thoughts are with those in hospital or feeling under the weather.

Hope you've recovered from the fall soop. I hope for a red letter day car wise too.

Lets hope we all get some sun tomorrow.
???

Puzzler61 Fri 21-May-21 16:32:53

How sore are you on a score of 1 to 10 today soop? I hope the 2 eggs shaped bumps have gone down? Who would think that neat little bathroom could attack you in such a way!

Hellogirl what a show of proud faces to welcome the new baby? He’s a cutie.

I’m feeling stupid today.
A garage I go to has erected 2 signs to promote a one-way system on and off the forecourt.
I didn’t notice and drove in the one I always do, except it’s now Exit Only in big letters!
I was shouted at by a burly lorry driver who was heading towards me in the middle of the driveway on his way Out.
Oh dear, more attention needed while driving ?
We’re on the brink of the weekend again, I hope everyone finds cheery ways to pass the time even if the weather continues to do it’s worst.

PS MawB and soop is it usual to back-on to a toilet seat? I must be doing it all wrong. I’ve been walking forwards until I get to the WC, then turning and getting seated at the last few moments.

brook2704 Fri 21-May-21 16:27:45

Beautiful pictures Hellogirl and such a beautiful baby, you must be so proud
I’m just back from a very soggy walk in the woods at the back of our house, we’ve had nothing but rain all day non stop so everywhere’s soggy and wet. The bright yellow gorse by the side of the path though reminded me of what sunshine yellow looks like!
Brilliant news about your new car soop I hope you and * Mr Soop* enjoy the new luxury
Thanks for the yummy cake Izabella just what’s needed right now and I’ll join you in a glass of wine later

Izabella Fri 21-May-21 15:16:18

Good afternoon from The Shire.

soop sorry to hear you have had another fall. They take the wind out of our sails for a while don't they, and each one seems to take longer to get over. Take care out there, its a minefield! MawBe, so lovely to see you back in the kitchen - your post on reversing skills did make me laugh.

Midst wall to wall mistiness and dampness outside, I am content that my steam cleaner now steameth again following attention, and also my screen is now touch sensitive again following more attention.

Good news from outside was a glimpse of a beautiful thrush going about its business earlier. Worms aplenty it seems at the moment. Such beautiful birds but sadly few in number around here.

Have we heard anything from the Panaches lately?

Anyway, whats left of birthday cake on the side, together with a bottle of chilled NZ white.

MawBe Fri 21-May-21 15:05:37

I am aware of how many paces it takes to reach the throne. I usually back-in towards it and...I normally plant myself firmly on the seat. I obviously miscalculated
Really sorry to hear about your fall Soop - bathrooms are full of hard edges for the unwary
At a more frivolous level, how many of us have done what you describe as “backing in” and found out too late that the lid was still down? ????

GrannySomerset Fri 21-May-21 15:03:17

After DH’s recent night time fall I have invested in plug-in low level lights at floor level which have been a great help and means that if he does get up in the night there is sufficient light for him to see what he is doing. Very cheap from the Big River store and are light cell activated so one less thing to have to remember to do at bed time.

Hope you are feeling better, Soop; DH took a couple of weeks to get over his little accident because he no longer bounces back.
