What are your breakfast preferences?

After the unpleasantness yesterday thought I would start something a little light hearted

There was an article on local radio this morning discussing breakfast preferences one man said he has had the same breakfast every day since he was 14 and is now 52! (Scrambled eggs with cheese)

Do GNs have the same breakfast every day? I tend to vary my breakfast between cereal (porridge in the winter) or toast but have a cooked breakfast on Sundays

I love porridge so that's what we have most days. When we go to watch the sunrise I make sausage sandwiches (the boot jump has a camping hob) whilst DH boils water in the Kelly Kettle for coffee.

I just need peace, quiet and lots of tea.
I rarely eat breakfast but if I do I love, homemade guacamole on sourdough with a rasher of smoked bacon.

Ah, now’t like a sausage sarnie ( with brown sauce) and I now desperately want one ( and it’s almost 10.30 pm.) ?

I can't see that without pronouncing it as Violet Elizabeth Bott would, lemongrove

A month ago I would have answered variations on eggs, tomatoes, avocado, mushrooms, etc - always savoury and early around 08.00, accompanied by a large cappuccino..

But in an effort to lose the 9 pounds gained in the past year I've had a bit of a re-jig of my diet and now in addition to low-carbing I'm dropping the early big breakfast and doing 16:8. Breakfast is now around 10.30 and consists of full-fat yoghurt, handful of blueberries, sprinkling of granola, large coffee. Let's see how long I can carry this on for!

I'm 6 pounds down.

Good luck with that Riverwalk. A 6lb loss is a good start.

I would prefer not to have to eat it at all, but try and shove a little something down - usually muesli and fruit or a boiled egg - or DH goes on at me.

I learned mine whilst trying the 8:16 and it stuck with me joyfully ever since. It's more of a brunch time-wise but I have a mug of fresh lemon, ginger and honey, some prunes, walnuts and yoghurt sprinkled liberally with chia seeds. If anyone had suggested I would be eating like this a few years ago, I would have laughed out loud. True though and I love it. If I were hotelling I would have the full works of probably most things in sight. Wonderful but short periods of weakness!

I always ring the changes..... different cereals with yoghurt and fruit, porridge, eggs (boiled, scrambled, poached), toast or crumpet, egg and bacon, croissants, etc etc.
Dh has Alpen, yoghurt and toast EVERY DAY!!!!!!!

Urmstongran Thu 06-May-21 08:58:07

If breakfast was the same every day I wouldn’t want to swing my legs out of bed ... Sausages & tomatoes are in the oven at the moment. Toast to go with. It’s lovely in retirement not to have to rush either.

Toast & Marmite & coffee.
I have a cup of tea in bed before I get up.
Sometimes I may have crumpets for a change.

Some of you ladies have very posh breakfasts! For me it’s either weetabix with blueberries and honey or porridge with blueberries and honey. Boring but I like it. We sometimes go to our local farm shop cafe for a full English which is always very good and I’m not left with the cooking smells by doing it at home!

Silvertwigs Thu 06-May-21 10:45:31

GrannyGravy13, I am so with you on this one, that lovely list just sends me to foodie heaven! But I’ve just had a gastric bypass so very little of that for some weeks! ?

leeds22 Thu 06-May-21 10:46:08

Usually porridge with blueberries and raspberries on top. Occasionally a lovely nutty muesli from M&S.

montymops Thu 06-May-21 10:48:50

Porridge with raspberries and blueberries or croissants - either plain or with chocolate-

Moggycuddler Thu 06-May-21 10:50:38

For a long time I always had a toasted tea cake with my cup of tea. But for a couple of months now I've been having porridge with a good shake of ground ginger in it, made (microwave) with soya milk, a bit of pure maple syrup on top. I think I feel a bit better for it, less bloaty in the mornings.

Theoddbird Thu 06-May-21 10:52:30

Mashed banana or summer berries with Alpro plain yogurt and coffee with oat milk.

Pedwards Thu 06-May-21 10:53:34

It varies, but most often Greek yoghurt with berries, nuts seeds and homemade granola (so easy and much nicer than shop bought), scrambled eggs, mushrooms and toms, a mushroom omelette, overnight oats occasionally or porridge

RillaofIngleside Thu 06-May-21 10:58:40

We have the same breakfast most days. I am diabetic, so follow a low carb breakfast of bacon/turkey rashers, omelette and fried mushrooms. Occasionally I have Greek yoghurt with berries and almonds.
I would love to have porridge (raises blood sugar slowly and keeps it up for hours), croissants, toast etc but it simply isn't worth the damaging blood sugar levels.

bridie54 Thu 06-May-21 11:08:29

My breakfast is mostly the same and it’s mixed frozen fruits, sometimes red berries other times a mix of tropical fruits, topped with Greek yoghurt and then nutty granola on top. Very yum. I’m not averse to a toasted cinnamon and raisin bagel occasionally.

henetha Thu 06-May-21 11:13:35

I can't eat when I first get up, so I have breakfast about 9.30.
It varies from day to day. Toast, or crumpets, bagels, cornflakes, boiled eggs, overnight oats, porridge, Yoghurt.
But not all on the same day!

Lulubelle500 Thu 06-May-21 11:16:13

I have a slice of banana bread which I bake once a week with ginger, sultanas and almonds, and half a mango. I eat it slowly to make it last as I don't have anything else until dinner at eight.

lizzypopbottle Thu 06-May-21 11:16:21

I try to go at least 14 hours before my first food of the day. I don't have the same thing every day but I often have a large bowl of porridge with stewed apple and other fruit or two slices of wholemeal toast, one with butter and the other with crunchy peanut butter with sliced banana on top and the whole lot sandwiched together.

Daffydilly Thu 06-May-21 11:17:06

I'm making the most of British strawberries and having them with Greek Yoghurt and Granola. It's my favourite breakfast but I also like overnight oats (I have a few favourite recipes), toast and egg, and the occasional bacon sandwich.

missdeke Thu 06-May-21 11:30:35

I make my own muesli and have that with fruit of some sort, occasionally I make some granola for a change or I'll have porridge with honey.
