What are your breakfast preferences?

After the unpleasantness yesterday thought I would start something a little light hearted

There was an article on local radio this morning discussing breakfast preferences one man said he has had the same breakfast every day since he was 14 and is now 52! (Scrambled eggs with cheese)

Do GNs have the same breakfast every day? I tend to vary my breakfast between cereal (porridge in the winter) or toast but have a cooked breakfast on Sundays

Usually porridge with blueberries and raspberries on top. Occasionally a lovely nutty muesli from M&S.

GrannyGravy13, I am so with you on this one, that lovely list just sends me to foodie heaven! But I’ve just had a gastric bypass so very little of that for some weeks! ?

Some of you ladies have very posh breakfasts! For me it’s either weetabix with blueberries and honey or porridge with blueberries and honey. Boring but I like it. We sometimes go to our local farm shop cafe for a full English which is always very good and I’m not left with the cooking smells by doing it at home!

Toast & Marmite & coffee.
I have a cup of tea in bed before I get up.
Sometimes I may have crumpets for a change.

If breakfast was the same every day I wouldn’t want to swing my legs out of bed ... Sausages & tomatoes are in the oven at the moment. Toast to go with. It’s lovely in retirement not to have to rush either.

I always ring the changes..... different cereals with yoghurt and fruit, porridge, eggs (boiled, scrambled, poached), toast or crumpet, egg and bacon, croissants, etc etc.
Dh has Alpen, yoghurt and toast EVERY DAY!!!!!!!

I learned mine whilst trying the 8:16 and it stuck with me joyfully ever since. It's more of a brunch time-wise but I have a mug of fresh lemon, ginger and honey, some prunes, walnuts and yoghurt sprinkled liberally with chia seeds. If anyone had suggested I would be eating like this a few years ago, I would have laughed out loud. True though and I love it. If I were hotelling I would have the full works of probably most things in sight. Wonderful but short periods of weakness!

I would prefer not to have to eat it at all, but try and shove a little something down - usually muesli and fruit or a boiled egg - or DH goes on at me.

Good luck with that Riverwalk. A 6lb loss is a good start.

A month ago I would have answered variations on eggs, tomatoes, avocado, mushrooms, etc - always savoury and early around 08.00, accompanied by a large cappuccino..

But in an effort to lose the 9 pounds gained in the past year I've had a bit of a re-jig of my diet and now in addition to low-carbing I'm dropping the early big breakfast and doing 16:8. Breakfast is now around 10.30 and consists of full-fat yoghurt, handful of blueberries, sprinkling of granola, large coffee. Let's see how long I can carry this on for!

I'm 6 pounds down.

I can't see that without pronouncing it as Violet Elizabeth Bott would, lemongrove

Ah, now’t like a sausage sarnie ( with brown sauce) and I now desperately want one ( and it’s almost 10.30 pm.) ?

Sago Wed 05-May-21 22:23:41

I just need peace, quiet and lots of tea.
I rarely eat breakfast but if I do I love, homemade guacamole on sourdough with a rasher of smoked bacon.

I love porridge so that's what we have most days. When we go to watch the sunrise I make sausage sandwiches (the boot jump has a camping hob) whilst DH boils water in the Kelly Kettle for coffee.

I'm an early riser and breakfast varies day to day. Bircher muesli in warm water , scrambled egg & toast, sometimes toast and marmalade. 2 cups of tea.

During the week either porridge with berries and a dollop of yoghurt. Or cold oats and berries and yoghurt. Plus a nice strong coffee.
At the weekend scrambled egg and tomatoes on a bagel.Or poached egg on avocado and toast.Or occasionally a full English fry up.
I never ate breakfast when I was younger. Now its my favourite meal.

Mrst1405 Wed 05-May-21 20:49:50

I have 3 breakfasts I rotate. 200g of cottage cheese, or 3 eggs in dry pan with handful of sliced mushrooms or crispbread with light philly and jam /cheese spread and marmite.. All with a flat white.

The same breakfast for many years, berries and yoghurt, fresh pressed juice and coffee. This is after an hours walk through the the woods and fields. Fabulous.

simtib Wed 05-May-21 20:33:40

Panino sliced in half drizled in olive oil and eight olives and then toasted. And of course a large cappachino.

Maywalk Wed 05-May-21 20:24:13

Cup of tea, pot of Ambrosia rice plus a yogurt.
I hate cornflakes and any other stuff similar and that includes porridge.

I would love a bacon butty but unfortunately cant keep it down due to colon problems.

Whitewavemark2 Wed 05-May-21 20:17:01

Every day two large mugs of tea, then coffee and orange juice with breakfast which is porridge with fruit every other day and then the other days eggs of all sorts, egg and bacon, kippers - I try to keep off the carbs as DH was pre diabetic at one stage which I managed to knock on the head so if we have toast it is only 1/2 slice each under an egg etc.

NotAGran55 Wed 05-May-21 20:05:59

On a work day it is always an omelette with fresh tomato as it sustains me the most.

Other days it is either porridge or kefir/homemade yogurt with fruit, seeds, nuts.

blue25 Wed 05-May-21 19:43:14

Berries with Greek yoghurt, nuts & seeds every day.

Callistemon Wed 05-May-21 19:41:16

I thought having breakfast would get your metabolism going?
So I don't understand the 16:8 theory.

Greek yogurt, honey and banana and other fruit.
I used to have a poached egg on toast sometimes but have gone off that lately.
Sometimes Scotch pancake or crumpets s with honey.

Tea

Shinamae Wed 05-May-21 19:08:53

Another for 16/8.water up until 1230 when I generally have a smoothie made with fruit, greens nuts and seeds.. if it’s a work day I will take it with me and have it at about 4 o’clock because I finish at eight...
